Album Review: Sarah Davidson’s Self-titled EP

sarah-davidsonWhile most people will recognize Sarah Davidson from TNT’s ‘Private Lives Of Nashville Wives’ and/or as being the ex-wife of hit songwriter Dallas Davidson, she is also a very talented singer/songwriter in her own right.

With the release of her 5 track self-titled country EP on on March 25th, Sarah gives a glimpse into who she is as an artist.  Who she IS an as artist is someone who is authentic, empowering, and talented.  Now, I could go on and write more about her here, but you will just have to wait for the full interview that I will be posting in the next couple of days when I had a chance to sit down with her to discuss music and learn more about who she is.  Check back for that! Right now, I will just discuss this new EP. Continue Reading →

Album Review: Charlie Worsham | ‘Rubberband’

Charlie Worsham Took me a bit getting around to the debut 12-track release by Charlie Worsham entitled ‘Rubberband’, but here it is at last.

The songwriting is solid, songs are radio-friendly, great musicianship, and it’s traditional country at its very core.

The lead track “Could It be” (my favorite) almost put me in mind of the country group Alabama“Tools Of The Trade” a mid-tempo song with Vince Gill and Marty Stuart is another standout.

Charlie’s voice is strong and he sings with ease.  I love the distinctive breaks in his voice at different points in songs, just a stylistic choice that sets him apart from other male artists.

The album has a very organic feel to it, not overly-produced, and a very introspective feel to it.  I highly-recommend it.

Rated 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Album Review: Jennifer Nettles | ‘That Girl’

Jennifer NettlesTo be honest, I always felt like it was only a matter of time before Jennifer Nettles became a solo artist.  She has always been the stand out person from Sugarland.  No disrespect to Kristian Bush.  He is very talented.  It’s just she always shone more brightly.  Even when Sugarland was a trio back on the very first album. Album Review: Brett Eldredge | ‘Bring You Back’

Brett-Eldredge With his blues-soaked, undeniably country voice, Brett Eldredge just released his debut album entitled BRING YOU BACK nationwide.   This album is rich with well-written songs that Eldredge had a hand in writing.  In fact, he co-wrote 11 out of 12 of the tracks on the album. Song Review: Ann Marie | “Cowboy Up”

Ann MarieUp and coming country artist Ann Marie has a new single out entitled “Cowboy Up”.

This song is uptempo and sassy as Ann Marie asks her man in the song to “cowboy up” if he wants to be her man.  The song and Ann Marie almost put me in mind of Shania Twain – similar in style.  If you enjoy Shania, you will enjoy her, too.

Overall, I think this song has a fun feel to it, catchy and great production.

Rating 4 out of 5 stars.
