“Loretta Lynn: An All-Star Birthday Celebration Concert” Announced At Bridgestone Arena On April 1, 2019

Music icon Loretta Lynn will celebrate her birthday this April with a once-in-a-lifetime music event. On the heels of one of the most deeply personal albums of her career, Wouldn’t It Be Great (Legacy Recordings/Sony Music Entertainment), the 2019 GRAMMY nominee celebrates this year’s birthday being honored by her friends. Alan Jackson, Brandy Clark, Darius Rucker, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Jack White, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Margo Price, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, Pistol Annies and Trisha Yearwood are among the first guests announced for “Loretta Lynn: An All-Star Birthday Celebration Concert” on Monday, April 1 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, produced by AEG Presents. Acclaimed music producer Dave Cobb will serve as musical director for the evening of celebration and song. Net proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Opry Trust Fund and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum®.

“I am so excited to celebrate my 87th birthday with all my friends,” shares Lynn. “This is the first time I’ve ever had a birthday party! My birthday wish has come true. The only other wish I have is that Keith Urban jumps out of my birthday cake!”

Garth Brooks was on hand at the press conference to surprise Lynn with a birthday cake to kick-off the celebration. In describing Lynn’s immense contribution to American music, Brooks said, “She’s the queen of Country music, there’s not a level she hasn’t crushed, no matter how big this party is, it ain’t gonna be big enough! This is going to be an honor and a blast!”

Sally Williams, SVP Programming & Artist Relations Opry Entertainment and GM, Grand Ole Opry added, “Loretta’s been warming hearts and putting smiles on faces since she joined the Opry in 1962. There’s no one who deserves a big birthday throwdown more than her. And by generously including the Opry Trust Fund in the festivities, it will be the country music community that will receive the gifts this year as she helps us fulfill the mission of helping those in our community who are in need.”

“Country Music Hall of Fame member Loretta Lynn is a beloved and important figure in American music,” said Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. “Loretta’s gift helps assure the success of our ongoing education mission, as we relate her story and the stories of other vital music-makers to generations of listeners and learners. In our museum, Loretta will always be a precious presence, as the memories and artistry of a coal miner’s daughter continue to inspire.”

AEG Presents’ Ali Harnell serves as executive producer of the event noted the significance of the timing, “Producing this event is an absolute pride-filled highlight of my career. I have always looked to Loretta as an inspiration on so many fronts. She is a boundary-pushing, trailblazing, surviving, undeniable superstar and I can’t wait to celebrate her and all her many achievements on April 1 at Bridgestone Arena.”

Loretta Lynn has long been established as the undisputed Queen of Country Music, with more than 50 years of recording and touring to her name. A self-taught guitarist and songwriter, Lynn was one of the most distinctive performers in Nashville in the 1960s and 1970s. She shook up Nashville by writing her own songs, many of which tackled boundary-pushing topics drawn from her own life experiences as a wife and mother. “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “Fist City” and “Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)” are just three of her 16 country No. 1 singles.

Lynn is also one of the most awarded musicians of all time. She has been inducted into more music Halls of Fame than any female recording artist, including The Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and was the first woman to be named the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year in 1972. Lynn received Kennedy Center Honors in 2003 and a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. In 2015, she was named recipient of Billboard’s inaugural Women in Music “Legend” Award. Lynn has won four GRAMMY Awards (including a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010) and sold more than 45 million records worldwide.

Tickets to “Loretta Lynn: All-Star Birthday Celebration Concert” go on sale Friday, January 18 at 10:00 a.m. (central) with prices ranging from $29.50 to $149.50 (plus applicable fees) and limited VIP packages available. To purchase tickets, visit BridgestoneArena.com.

Chris Young Sells Out Hometown Arena Show

Chris Young and nearly 14,000 fans from his sold-out headlining show

On Saturday, September 22nd, Chris Young along with tour mates, Kane Brown and Morgan Evans, brought their LOSING SLEEP tour to Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to play a sold out show.

You could feel the energy in the air with this enthusiastic crowd as they sang along, danced, and lit up their phones in response to hit songs by all 3 of the artists, especially Chris Young who headlined the concert.

Starting out the evening was Australian artist Morgan Evans signed to Warner Music Nashville.  Evans was joined onstage by his “American band”, which consists of him, a guitar, and foot pedals to control pre-recorded loops.  The result is he sounds just like he is playing with a full band only it is just him.

Fans sang along with Evans to his recent first number one hit, “Kiss Somebody”, and roared with excitement as he welcomed Kelsea Ballerini to the stage to sing a duet with him.  The newly-weds both beamed at each other under the bright concert lights and blended their harmonies perfectly together.

Sony Nashville’s Kane Brown was the next to take the stage with his full band.  It was clear that many in the audience were there to see Brown as they cheered loudly and sang along to many of his songs.  Brown gave an energetic performance along with his high energy band.  He was urged back to the stage by fans at the conclusion of his set for an encore when he sang his 2 biggest hits to date, “What If’s” and “Heaven”.  The crowd went wild for both.

Finally, the energy in the arena built to a palpable level that you could literally feel as the stage crew prepared the huge stage for the headliner, Sony Music’s longtime artist Chris Young, to perform.  As concert goers eagerly-awaited Young to take to the stage, the arena’s video camera zoomed in randomly around the audience showing couples kissing and people dancing up & down the aisles.

The crowd reached a frenzied level as the lights went down to reveal a high tech video opener that concluded with the covers over the tops of all the musicial instruments being lifted from above the stage revealing Young and his band as he opened appropriately with “Losing Sleep”.

Young sang hit after hit from his large catalog to his hometown audience since he grew up just outside of Nashville in Murfreesboro and attended Belmont University.  He smiled and beamed the whole night as he seemingly enjoyed every minute of it up soaking it all in as the crowd cheered in delight every time he simply stepped towards his microphone before he could even utter a lyric.

For years, Chris Young has worked towards this moment making his way through the Nashville music scene as a teenager “paying his dues” playing small venues like the French Quarter in east Nashville, which now is The Crying Wolf, and El Chico’s Mexican restaurant on Murfreesboro Rd. several years before it closed down where he was asked to play cover songs performing for tips only.  He has come a long way since then and has worked tirelessly for years to get to this level in his career, which shows no signs of slowing down.

Performing in the largest venue in Nashville, next to Nissan Stadium, to a sold out crowd inside Bridgestone Arena for his own headlining tour must have felt like a dream come true for the humble artist that night.  A dream that he has worked especially hard for since he was a teenager as he honed his skills in performing and songwriting.  This was a well-deserved moment for a very deserving, hardworking artist.

Young was joined on stage by special guest, the talented Cassadee Pope, for their #1 hit, “Think Of Us”.   Later, he was joined by longtime label mate, Brad Paisley, to sing Paisley’s hit, “I’m Still A Guy”.  It was a playful moment to go along with a playful song as they had a little fun with a woman in the front row as they held on to her cellphone she eagerly handed to them.  Wondering to themselves as they took some selfies: “what a female in Nashville might have on her phone”.  They both playfully perused her phone scrolling through pictures and who she last called.  Then they decided to call back her last number dialed leaving a message on that person’s voicemail.  Finally handing the phone back to the excited audience member as they finished the song out.  Just guys being guys, only on a stage in front of nearly 14,000 adoring fans.

Young stated that he could play all night to this crowd as he performed until after 11pm for a 17 song set, posed for a fun photo of him and the sold out crowd, and smashing an acoustic guitar (stating that he had never done that before) on stage before ending the night a couple of songs later.

It was a night filled with great music and memories.  All the rain outside could not dampen anyone’s spirits that evening and Young, along with his tour mates, shined brightly like the sun that was missing from outside behind the clouds inside the arena.

It was a night of celebrations as the LOSING SLEEP tour played its 33rd sold out show and Chris Young played his first ever concert inside the Bridgestone Arena, something I am sure he only dreamed of doing several years ago as a college student in Nashville.

Kelsea Ballerini Makes Powerful Return To Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena With Keith Urban

Commanding the stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday (8/24), it was a full-circle moment for Black River Entertainment’s KELSEA BALLERINI as she opened for KEITH URBAN on his GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR stop. Urban’s “Stupid Boy” inspired Ballerini to begin songwriting over a decade ago.

“I moved to Nashville at 15 to do just this,” she shared with the packed house. “My first opportunity was as a songwriter, and I feel like I’ve learned the most by listening to and watching songwriters.” Ballerini also offered advice to all the songwriters in the room wondering if Nashville is the next step in their own journey, “It is. Do it,” she added. “It could change your entire world.”

During her dynamic set, the Country superstar performed tracks from her acclaimed sophomore album UNAPOLOGETICALLY, including the title track, “Roses,” “Miss Me More,” and chart-climbing current single “I Hate Love Songs.” In addition to her GOLD-certified, history-making #1 “Legends,” she also spanned her career-launching PLATINUM-certified, #1 smashes: “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs,” and “Peter Pan,” from her GOLD-certified breakout THE FIRST TIME. Ballerini remains the only female artist in Country music history, including female duos and groups, to claim #1 with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album.

As a “fan of a songwriter,” Ballerini also conducted an arena-sized sing-along with a heart-stirring cover of Fleetwood Mac’s iconic “Landslide.” In addition, she joined Urban later on in the show to duet on his hit “We Were Us.” Applauding her powerful “poise and sass,” The Tennessean claimed, “Ballerini proved she can work an arena crowd and only needs half of a song to make them fall in love.”

The GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR continues next week with back-to-back shows at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, on Friday (9/7) and Saturday (9/8). Additional details on venues, cities, and dates running through November can be found here.

For more information on KELSEA BALLERINI, visit KelseaBallerini.com and reach out to her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

ABOUT KELSEA BALLERINI:
Applauded as GRAMMY nominee Kelsea Ballerini’s “grown-up statement” (Rolling Stone), the Black River Entertainment artist’s acclaimed sophomore album UNAPOLOGETICALLY takes listeners on an intimate journey of loss, life, and love. The 12-track compilation – all written or co-written by Ballerini – features the GOLD-certified, #1 hit “Legends” and current chart-rising single “I Hate Love Songs.” This summer, she’s Keith Urban’s featured artist on the GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR, after wrapping her own sold-out headlining THE UNAPOLOGETICALLY TOUR. The record-breaker skyrocketed to stardom after releasing PLATINUM-certified, #1 smashes – “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs,” “Peter Pan” – from her GOLD-certified breakout THE FIRST TIME. Ballerini is the only female artist in Country music history, including female duos and groups, to go #1 with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album. As spotted on “Best Dressed” lists, the style maven appeared in a multi-page fashion spread in Cosmopolitan’s March 2018 issue, with several other high profile looks in 2017: Billboard Magazine’s GRAMMY preview issue; Forbes’ “30 Under 30” class; and People Magazine’s “Beauty at Every Age” list in their iconic World’s Most Beautiful issue. Praised by The New York Times as an “elegant songwriter,” Ballerini has received the esteemed ASCAP Vanguard Award, CMT Next Women of Country’s Impact Award, Nashville Business Journal’s Artist of the Year, ACM Honor’s Gene Weed Milestone Award, iHeartRadio Music Award for Best New Country Artist, Billboard Women in Music’s Rising Star, multiple Radio Disney Music Awards plus several breakthrough female awards from ACM and CMT.

Shania Twain Wows Capacity Crowd At Bridgestone Arena

A week ago today, July 21st, I had the pleasure of seeing the fabulous Shania Twain play to a capacity crowd at Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville for her NOW tour.

The 52-year-old Canadian superstar hasn’t missed a beat and shines just as brightly as she ever did in her prime.

Twain is strong and determined, as she was able to overcome difficult personal struggles between the demise of her first marriage and problems with her voice due to lyme disease.  The result is a more mature and resilient woman determined to create a better future after experiencing such hardship.  However, Shania grew up under very humble circumstances, so she knows how to survive any difficulty while coming out of it even stronger.

During the concert when she would speak of a personal song she wrote from her most recent album, NOW, you could not help but hear the emotion in her voice and knew this was all coming from the heart.

As she made her assent to the main stage to begin her concert, the excitement of the crowd was palpable as she walked through the crowd greeting fans with security around her while her drummer stood on the small second stage playing drums to build the excitement in the arena.

When she finally got on the stage, she asked the crowd if they were ready to which she got a deafening, excited response from the enthusiastic crowd.  The curtain pulled back and the stage lit up revealing background singers and dancers.  The opening song was an upbeat tune that I wasn’t familiar with.

The stage was beautiful and changed up throughout the night.  Twain sang hit after hit of her huge catolog with a few of her new songs off the most recent album to an adoring crowd that sang along with her to familiar hits and stood the whole time.

My personal favorites of the night were: “Any Man Of Mine”, “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under”, “Up”, “Don’t Be Stupid”, and “That Don’t Impress Me Much”.

Instagram will load in the frontend.

Shania looked as beautiful as ever and there were several outfit changes thoughout the night with many flowing dresses.  She kept the energy going and it was a wonderful concert overall as she seemed to be thoroughly-enjoying herself.  The only thing I would change is the opening song to one of her familiar huge hits that the crowd knew.  The opening song was upbeat, which is always a good way to start, but I think it would be an even more effective opening to lead with something very familiar since when she did perform a hit, the energy in the room shot up even more.  I just thought a little of the energy was lost by not starting with one of her huge hits, but that is just my opinion.  The whole production was wonderful, and so happy that Shania Twain is back after taking a long break.

Cirque Du Soleil Brings Their Newest Production, Corteo, To Nashville

Imagine being submerged in the world’s largest live production, where immaculate, colorfully-adorned acrobats who also serve as revolving stage builders propel theatrical, musically-driven storylines to the next level of imagination.  Sound like another world to you?

In Cirque Du Soliel’s newest production, Corteo, the “Get Carried Away With Life” the storyline begins with an old man, who happens to be a clown, singing about a dream of his death and all of the magical excitement that ensues there after. He regales the onlookers, in Italian, with memories of his childhood, where tiny gymnasts unapologetically somersault and twirl on spinning beds, center stage.

His wonder years were expressed by beautiful ladies gliding through the air, dangling from crystal chandeliers, with no safety net or straps, 30 feet above the seated participants. At one point a tiny woman emerged, harnessed onto 4, 12 ft. tall helium-balloons as she gently hovered over the audience, touching down to let the onlookers gently lift her back to the stage.

It’s easy to see why Cirque Du Soleil, for all intents and purposes, is the contemporary circus for the childlike mind who happens to be an adult… or is it the other way around? CDS aligns Olympic quality skill with world-renowned, visually-stunning performances that are sure to wow any person willing to open their mind enough to the experience.

Corteo is only in town through July 29th.  Tickets are selling out fast.  Go to www.ticketmaster.com to purchase yours today!
