Country Radio Seminar 2013: Celebrities, Surprises and Stars of Tomorrow

Country Radio Seminar wrapped up last week to record attendance, bright new stars, and performances by the biggest names in country music. The three-day event overtook the Nashville Convention Center as thousands poured in for the annual meeting.

As a media outlet, we have the opportunity to cover the event, and interview some of the brightest up-and-coming stars in the format. We’ll be posting those interviews in the upcoming days; and we’ve also got photo and video coverage of the events, so stay tuned!

In other news, Dierks, whose single “Tip It On Back” is closing in on Top 5, is hitting the links on Wednesday in Scottsdale, Arizona for the Waste Management Phoenix Open Annexus Pro-Am. His team will be led by 28 –year-old Swedish pro-golfer, Jonas Blixt. Dierks is also set to perform at the Bird’s Nest in Phoenix for the golf tournament closer.

NASHVILLE – Third time’s the charm at the annual CMA Songwriters Luncheon with the presentation of the CMA Triple Play Awards, which honor songwriters who pen three chart-topping hits in a 12-month period. During the event held today at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, a dozen songwriters received the three-peat trophy from CMA Board Chairman Troy Tomlinson, President and CEO, Sony/ATV Music Publishing Nashville. The American Country Awards

American Country AwardsLast night was the third annual American Country Awards (ACAs), broadcast live on FOX from the Mandalay Bay Events Center. The two-hour special featured performances by co-hosts Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth, Jake Owen, Kip Moore, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Little Big Town and a surprise performance by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

With nine awards, including Artist of the Year, Luke Bryan received the most awards, followed by Miranda Lambert, who received three awards. Following her two wins this year, Carrie Underwood has earned 11 ACA awards, the most ACA honors of any artist. Lady Antebellum’s wins in Artist of the Year: Group and Single of the Year: Group, plus their five previous awards, make them the group with the most ACA honors ever.

Fans logged on to www.theacas.com to cast votes in support of their favorite country music artists not only in traditional categories, but also in a previously unrecognized area – touring – encompassing the entire spectrum of country music. Continue Reading →

Taylor Swift and LL Cool J Host The Show Airing LIVE on CBS at 9pm CST

Tomorrow night is a big one in the entertainment world. The GRAMMY Nominations Concert is taking place… right here in Nashville! That’s right, CBS is airing the show LIVE from 9-10 CST for the first time ever directly from Bridgestone Arena. And FOCUS is gonna be there!

Hosted by Taylor Swift and LL Cool J (just odd enough a pairing to be spectacular), the night will include performances by Hunter HayesLuke Bryan, Maroon 5, Ne-YoThe Whofun.Dierks Bentley and The Band Perry (performing together as a tribute to Johnny Cash), plus more! Oh, and they’re also announcing the nominees for Music’s Biggest Night, complete with special guest appearances.

And for those lucky enough to be AT the event (I’ll wait as you get over turning green from envy)… Maroon 5 will be performing an exclusive performance after the live broadcast. Stay tuned for more!

Some of the most powerful and emotionally moving voices in music come together to celebrate the holidays on “CMA Country Christmas,” which airs Thursday, Dec. 20 (9:00-11:00 PM/ET) and repeats Saturday, Dec. 22 (9:00-11:00 PM/ET) and Sunday, Dec. 23 (4:00-6:00 PM/ET). The special, which features Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland as host for the third year, airs on the ABC Television Network.

Artists on the two-hour special celebrating the season with songs and stories include Dierks Bentley, Colbie Caillat, Katherine Jenkins, Lady Antebellum, John Legend, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Scotty McCreery, Nettles, The Band Perry, and Keith Urban.

In 2011, the premiere broadcast of “CMA Country Christmas” drew more than 9 million viewers, which was an increase of nearly 23 percent over the inaugural broadcast in 2010. Adults 18-49 increased year-to-year by nearly 50 percent. Not only were initial airings better than in the previous year, DVR playback increased, too. Total viewers who watched the show within a week of premiere increased 2 million viewers from 2010 to 2011 (7.663 vs. 9.624). The cumulative audience for all three airings reached 14 million viewers.

Martin & Co. announced yesterday it is an official partner of this year’s 2012 CMA Country Music Awards, and will sponsor the first-ever backstage Artists Welcome Lounge Oct. 29-Nov. 1 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The lounge will be a comfortable, chic haven for all participating artists to relax, mingle with their peers, and best of all, play the beautiful Martin guitars available in the lounge during rehearsals, the red carpet and the night of the awards show.

Over one dozen Martin models from custom designs, to artist signature models, to the very successful Retro Series models that debuted earlier this year, will be available to the performers for spontaneous jam sessions in the exclusive backstage lounge. Arguably the most prestigious of these, however, is the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs) held in Las Vegas in April. What fewer country fans may know is the Academy holds an annual awards show for non-televised industry and specialty awards called the ACM Honors, which took place Monday at The Ryman Auditorium.
