Keith Urban Debuts Official Music Video For Latest Single “Never Comin Down”

Four-time GRAMMY ® Award winner Keith Urban debuts the brand-new music video for his latest single GRAFFITI U’s “Never Comin Down,” which follows his 24th #1 song “Coming Home.”  “Never Comin Down,” (Urban, Josh Kerr, James Abrahart, Shy Carter) says Urban, “captures the energy and spirit of being at a show – lost in the music, along with everyone else that’s there, whether you know them or not.  That’s the feeling that I wanted to capture in the video.”

The result produced a wildly creative narrative that intentionally accentuates inclusivity through dance.  Urban’s collaborator, director Carter Smith says, “In casting, we took the people that were happiest to be themselves – whatever that was.  We brought in voguers, break dancers, hip-hop dancers – line dancers – everybody’s dancing together for this one song, on this one night.”

The video opens with a nervous young man approaching a bar. As he makes his way inside, he’s slowly consumed by the feeling in the room, everyone dancing, expressing themselves in their own way, lost in the music.  By the end of the video, he’s not only out on the dance floor, but showing them all how to line dance.

Urban is currently in the midst of his 62-city “GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR 2018” – with his guitar – and is scheduled to perform in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena this Friday.

Song Review: Carrie Manolakos | “Take Me Down”

Photo credit: Shervin Lainez | www.shervinfoto.com

I first became aware of Carrie Manolakos after watching the “This Is Me” video from a rehearsal for ‘The Greatest Showman’ soundtrack.  If you haven’t seen this video, watch it below.  I must have watched this video well over a dozen times.  There is such joy and pure talent overflowing in that room.  It is infectious! Carrie was one of the choir members who really stood out in this video.  The rehearsal room was filled with some of the best of the best of young, rising Broadway performers.  Literally, a “who’s who” list of who to look out for on Broadway in NYC, including Hugh Jackman.

Ok, I realize that Carrie Manolakos has nothing to do with the 615 aka Nashville & surrounding areas.  I need SOME kind of tie in to our city to talk about her on here since this site is all about anything related to Nashville.  Well, I noticed in her Instagram that at some point in the past few years she DID perform at City Winery Nashville.  If we get lucky, maybe she’ll pass through this way again, but there is the connection to Nashville that I was looking for. 😉 Update: According to Carrie she has visited Nashville a few years back working on her songwriting with some of our vast songwriting community.

Anyway, now that I have gotten THAT out of the way, let’s talk about why I think you should get to know Carrie and her music.

She is a standout among singers with such tremendous control of her powerful vocals.  While some vocalists with her kind of power can have a tendency to oversing at times, Carrie starts out softly, harnessing her power.  She emotes and seemingly feels every lyric as she continues to build until she reaches a dramatic peak where she unleashes the full power of her voice.  Her voice is so strong, controlled, and pitch perfect that it simply gives you chills.  Well, it does me anyway.  Then, she brings it back down softly again.  She will quite literally make you gasp from the power and emotion she exudes as she sings.  That is the best way that I can describe it.  Simply flawless vocals.

In this new, original song by her entitled, “Take Me Down”, you have a power ballad in the pop/alternative rock genre.  It’s a mesmerizing and haunting song with lyrics like: “Every hurt that I’ve ever known.  I need fear to leave me alone.  Take me down to the water’s edge and make me whole.”  She sings of pain she is feeling with vivid imagery and yearning to heal from it.  It’s a song that everyone can relate to and she sings it so beautifully.

Newcomer Abi Unveils New Music Video For Breakout Single “A Day Without”

In May, twenty-year-old country music songstress Abi, released her breakout single “A Day Without” to critical acclaim. Upon its debut, “A Day Without” landed on Rolling Stone Country’s “10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week” and Taste of Country dubbed the track, “the kind of tightly-worded, universal artist statement a country newcomer needs to take a serious step forward.” The song’s strong connection to the passing of Abi’s father makes this debut especially appropriate.

Abi shares, “’A Day Without’ brings on a lot of different emotions for me. The sheer thought of losing someone is absolutely terrifying, as is the deep love you might have for a person with who you might feel like you cannot go on a day without them…I think that my father’s passing gave me a new perspective on life, and enabled me to channel much deeper emotions into my craft.”

For the video’s concept, Abi remained true to the song’s meaning in her own words, while leaving it open to the listener for interpretation. “We chose to focus on two themes of love and separation,” says Abi.  “So we chose a mother sending her child off to college for the first time and a girlfriend sending her boyfriend off into the military. Emotionally, I’m definitely very connected with the idea of separation,” she adds.

Inspired by everything from the marvelous pop expanse of The Beatles and Shania Twain, to the “storytelling” of Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, Abi crafted her first song in third grade. She has since developed into a powerhouse vocalist and songwriter, with an impressive resume under her belt. In 2014, Abi joined Jesse McCartney’s North American tour and 2015 saw Kelly Clarkson handpick Abi to open her massive summer headline run, while she hit the road alongside Pentatonix a year later. In 2017, her single “Matches” independently caught fire; striking the sweet spot between simmering country soul, twanging guitars and a fierce hook – “Light me up ‘cause baby we’re matches” – CMT fanned the flames an early champion.

Watch Now: Jimmie Allen’s Debut Music Video For “Best Shot”

Jimmie Allen’s music video for his first single “Best Shot” made its world premiere over the weekend on CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown. The personal song was inspired by advice from Jimmie’s grandmother and is currently approaching Top 40 on the Mediabase Country Chart after debuting as the 2nd Most Added song at Country radio. With family photos and home movies from his childhood, the video showcases Jimmie’s more introspective side however it’s evident in the behind-the-scenes video for “Best Shot,” (which debuted exclusively on One Country here) that the gregarious singer’s personable demeanor, which fans have come to know from his docu-series “Jimmie Allen All In,” is unshakable.
“To me ‘Best Shot’ is about accepting that we all have flaws, we all make mistakes and we’ll all experience a few bumps in the road but all of those hardships lead us to where we are today so at the end of the day, what really counts is that you’re trying your best and giving life your all,” said Allen. “My family has always been such a large part of my journey so it was incredibly special for me to incorporate them into my first-ever music video. It’s a really cool full circle moment to be able to share with them.”
This music video comes on the heels of a remarkable Grand Ole Opry debut, which earned him a standing ovation, as well as the release of a brand new song. “21” is the first track in a new collection of songs the singer calls the “Slower Lower Sessions.” Jimmie will share a new song from the series, which are all inspired by memories growing up in the “Slower Lower” region of Delaware, each month leading up to the launch of his full-length album, due later this year.
“Best Shot” was first introduced to the world through Jimmie’s self-titled EP, which was released in October and subsequently earned him recognition on nearly every “One to Watch” list for 2018. To listen to “Best Shot,” click here.

ACM Award-Winning Trio Midland Return To The Honky-Tonks In Music Video For “Burn Out”

Midland mix the vintage style of Urban Cowboy with the ambitious filmmaking of Goodfellas in the music video for their latest single “Burn Out.” Premiering today and available everywhere now, the video, directed by TK McKamy and Midland’s own Cameron Duddy, was filmed in one continuous shot, calling to mind the legendary kitchen-to-club scene in Martin Scorsese’s iconic mob film.

To capture a specific barroom vibe for the video, the Texas trio of Duddy, Mark Wystrach and Jess Carson set up their instruments in the center of the dance floor at the famous Billy Bob’s honky-tonk in Fort Worth, TX. The neon signs, two-stepping couples and Wrangler jeans evoke the Urban Cowboy scene of the Seventies, with patrons tipping back more than a few longnecks. As beer bottles clank all around them – and a waitress gets into a fateful fight with her man – Midland re-create “Burn Out” in one seamless take.

Written by the band with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, “Burn Out” is the new single off the group’s acclaimed debut album ON THE ROCKS. It follows the GOLD-certified No. 1 “Drinkin’ Problem” and the Top 15 hit “Make a Little.”

“‘Burn Out’ proves these songwriters can turn Nashville tropes on its head thanks to whip-smart lyricism,” said Entertainment Weekly of the song, while Rolling Stone Country raved, “The track smolders with a decidedly Nineties country feel, buoyed by aching three-part vocal harmonies and shimmering pedal steel, with the occasional bit of clever wordplay (‘The smokin’ memory that ain’t nothin’ but ashes’) that never feels forced or gratuitous.”

Named New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year at this year’s ACM Awards, Midland also posted a behind-the-scenes video about the filming of “Burn Out” on Facebook.

The two-time Grammy nominees are currently on a nationwide summer tour and will return to perform at Billy Bob’s on June 2, following two sold-out nights at Texas’ oldest dancehall, Gruene Hall.

Midland is currently up for Group Video of the Year at the 2018 CMT Music Awards on June 6.

They’ll join Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes Tour in September in Bangor, ME.

Russell Dickerson’s Newest Video Arrives Just In Time To Become Your Favorite Summer Jam

Coming off his very first number one single “Yours” from his debut album, Russell Dickerson has just released his newest single and video for “Blue Tacoma”.

This mid-tempo tune delevered with Dickerson’s signature smooth vocals is the perfect summer anthem.  The video filmed on the coastline fits the mood perfectly and is definitely a winner.  I predict this will be his second hit off his album.

Check out the video below.
