NEW YORK, N.Y. – Platinum-selling entertainer Chase Rice Joins GMA’s “Strahan & Sara” for TV Debut of “Eyes On You” yesterday, February 26, with the television debut of massive hit “Eyes On You,” described by People as “addictive” and Billboard as “the latest sign for Rice that things are working.” In addition to the viral sensation which has now been streamed more than 120 million times, Rice also sat in as the house band for the full show, providing music throughout the hour. Watch his full performance of “Eyes On You” HERE.

“‘Eyes On You’ is about living in the moment, taking it all in, and since releasing it we’ve relived these moments of fans singing it back to us night-after-night. It’s wild and an incredible thing to witness when a song transcends its original meaning and people adopt it as their own,” shares the man ESPN characterizes as “a rarity.” “This is their song — your song, and my eyes are on you.”

While speaking with hosts Michael Strahan and Sara Haines before his performance, Rice pointed out a group of Long Island volunteer firefighters in the audience. Invited as his guests, the first responders were on hand in celebration of Rice’s recently announced partnership with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire to raise funds and awareness for the National Volunteer Fire Council, which supports and advocates for the 70% of firefighters who volunteer their time to keep us safe.

In addition to his Top 15-and-climbing single, “Eyes On You,” Rice also performed Platinum-certified Top 5 hits “Ready Set Roll” and “Gonna Wanna Tonight” as well as “Do It Like This” off his No. 1 debut album Ignite the Night, plus current album cuts “Three Chords & The Truth” and “On Tonight,” a re-imagined version of which will appear alongside three other deluxe tracks on Lambs & Lions (Worldwide Deluxe), available worldwide as the title implies this Friday, March 1.

Chase Rice Delivers Special Show Just 3 Days After Surgery

Chase Rice has faced his fair share of injuries over the years. While playing football at UNC, he took a hit directly to his left ankle, resulting in a win for the team but surgery and a missed season for the athlete. In the midst of rehabbing, he took another hit with the passing of his father. That time off between his injury and his loss led a disheartened Rice to channel his frustrations into music, leading to his discovery and love of songwriting … and eventually the start of his career in music.
Fast forward 10 years and millions of fans later, and Rice found himself nearly benched again.
Rice tore his pectoral muscle while filming the music video for “Eyes On You,” a song from his latest, Lambs & Lions, that hit the U.S. Viral 50 Chart immediately after its release. Despite undergoing surgery just three days prior, as he shared on social media, Rice brought the energy that’s built him a faithful fan following around the world to a passionate crowd at the sold out House of Blues last night, giving his fans the night of their lives in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Stepping on stage with his right arm in a sling and the mic in the other, the Carolinian snarled, “There was no question in my mind about whether or not we’d be here tonight. After hearing this crowd sing ‘Eyes On You’ back to us as loud as you have, I’m even more excited for everyone to see this music video soon,” Rice marveled. “You andthis right here — this energy — this is why we do what we do and why nothing was going to stop me from getting on this stage tonight.”
The show Friday marked 10 years to the day that his father passed away, making his performance all the more significant. Rice’s brother Casey joined him for the night, bringing Chase a small Martin guitar, the only size permitted for Rice to play while rehabilitating and the only one of its kind within 100 miles of Friday’s show. Just above its neck Rice inscribed “5-18-18” to commemorate the anniversary and special night.
Rice is committed to rehabbing on the road and is adamant no shows will be cancelled as he continues to play for fans across this country this summer on the Lambs & Lion Tour and at various festival dates.

Having cut his teeth “playing to the most discerning crowd there is: college kids” (Pollstar) and opened for veteran entertainers like Dierks Bentley and Kenny Chesney, Rice has learned a thing or two about what it takes to engage a crowd – and it’s that rare energy he looks for in selecting his own supporting acts for his upcoming JD and Jesus Tour. Rice is calling on a diverse slate of talent to fill out the bill when he embarks on the tour this fall, tapping Dot Records’ Tucker Beathard,, EMI Records Nashville’s Haley Georgia and up-and-coming singer/songwriters Luke Combs, Jordan Davis and Cole Taylor to join him for select shows. Billboard Charting Indie Artist Chase Rice Signs with CAA

(l-r) CAA Meredith Jones, Chase Rice, CAA Brandon Frankel, CAA Jim Butler & Chase’s Tour Manager John Lessard

Chase Rice, the Billboard and iTunes Chart topping indie country performer, signs with CAA for exclusive representation. Jim Butler and Meredith Jones will be his Responsible Agents.

“When I recorded this album, I built the tracks around a live performance,” recalls Chase. “I look forward to getting it out in front of new audiences.  It’s definitely been a very exciting year seeing the pieces fall into place since the release of the record.”

Chase dropped his debut album Dirt Road Communion on March 20th which climbed to #6 on iTunes Top Country Album Charts, #15 Billboard Heatseekers and punched through at #48 on the Billboard Top Country Album Chart. Chase is also a co-writer on “Cruise,” the debut single from Republic Nashville’s newest duo Florida Georgia Line.

Dirt Road Communion features strong rooted contemporary country songs that invoke a good times spirit like the lead single “How She Rolls,” alongside “Pop a Top” and “Whoa,” but you’ll also find personal and insightful examinations of his darker side on “Jack Daniel’s & Jesus” and “Room 205.” Chase moved to Music City shortly after coming in runner up on the hit TV series CBS Survivor: Nicaragua.  Since the move, this North Carolina reared performer has been running at full throttle developing a grass roots connection to his ever expanding fan base.

Before his bold move to Nashville, Chase was a star on the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill football team.  He’d trade in his Carolina blue to suit up for Hendrick Motorsports after college where he served on the pit crew for Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson.  His parent’s always pushed for excellence and his father particularly carried a huge influence on his choices up till his death.  “Dad was a fighter and I hope I have his same spirit.  I wear a belt buckle that says ‘Cowboy Up!’ every time I take the stage to remind me of all that he did to get me here.”

Album Review: Dirt Road Communion By Chase Rice

Chase RiceWhile I appreciate the production, musicianship, and the melodies of the album as a whole, I found the entire album a bit cliche.  There are just too many songs about dirt roads, trucks, beer, whiskey, girls, and tractors.  Nothing groundbreaking, profound, or will truly touch your heart here.  The vocals are ok, but will not blow you away and seemed a little strained at times.  I was looking for something with a bit more depth and something to really stand out for me in this new release from Chase Rice, who many will remember as being a runner-up on the hit CBS show ‘Survivor’.

I did enjoy the mid-tempo song “Jack Daniels & Jesus”.  This song had some depth, a great melody, and good lyrics.  “PBJs & PBRs” was a fun uptempo song reminiscing about college days.  This song is radio-friendly and would do well as a summer release.

“Whoa” was a low point for me on this album.   Chase tried to rap during one part of the song. Personally, I think that any kind of rapping should be left off of a country album.  It just doesn’t belong in the genre.  I did like the melody of the song, but the lyrics were lacking.

Overall, this new album is a good listen, but not great and filled with too many country cliches that have been overdone.  It just didn’t blow me away or lacked in true depth.

Rated 2 1/2 out of 5 stars.
