BMI Wraps Inaugural Maui Songwriters Festival

The inaugural BMI Maui Songwriters Festival came to a close December 13. Hosted by Storme Warren, shows filled choice island venues including Charley’s Saloon, the Maui Arts and Cultural Center and the Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort. From Nashville’s signature in-the-round acoustic song-swaps that take listeners deep into the stories behind beloved hits, to rowdy full-band sets, the festival revolved around unforgettable live music experiences. The festival, held December 8 to 13, was attended by top country writers, BMI Songwriters of the Year and the up-and-coming next wave of country stars. SCOTTY McCREERY MIA FROM BMI AWARDS; ACCEPTS 1 MONTH LATER

After having to miss the BMI Country Music Awards in November due to a prior commitment performing at the CMA Marketing Summit, Scotty McCreery excitedly accepted his first BMI Award in person last Friday afternoon, Dec. 11, for writing one of BMI’s Top 50 Country Songs of 2015: his Platinum-selling Top Ten hit “See You Tonight.” BMI announced its list of Top 50 songs in November at its annual event, but with McCreery unavailable, he didn’t want to just “mail it in.” McCreery wrote the song with Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell, and it served as the title cut of his second studio album and earned him a Top 10 hit on both Billboard and MediaBase. The multi-Platinum-selling singer/songwriter received his award in person in Nashville from Jody Williams, BMI Vice President, Writer and Publisher Relations and Bradley Collins, BMI Executive Director, Writer-Relations.

Mac Davis to be Honored as BMI Icon at the 2015 BMI Country Awards

Broadcast Music, Inc.®, (BMI®), a global leader in music rights management, will celebrate the extraordinary songwriting career of Mac Davis by naming him a BMI Icon at the company’s 63rd annual BMI Country Awards. The invitation-only event, which will be held on Tuesday, November 3 at BMI’s Music Row offices in Nashville, will honor Davis and the songwriters and publishers of the most-performed country songs of the previous year.

RIAA’s top digital country male artist of all time Jason Aldean celebrated the success of his recent three consecutive No. One hits, “Burnin’ It Down,” “Just Gettin’ Started” and “Tonight Looks Good On You,” off of his PLATINUM record OLD BOOTS, NEW DIRT yesterday (8/11).  Friends and family packed Nashville’s City Winery for a progressive party, which moved throughout the venue to celebrate each song.

BMI names Lauren Branson Director, Public Relations

Lauren BransonBroadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) today announced that Lauren Branson has been named Director, Public Relations. In this role, she will be responsible for creating and implementing the public relations strategies for many of the company’s wholly owned and sponsored songwriter-based events, including BMI’s Country and Christian Awards shows, BMI No. 1 Parties, Austin City Limits Festival, LouFest, SXSW and the Key West Songwriter’s Festival. Branson will report to Robbin Ahrold, BMI Senior Advisor, interim head of BMI’s Corporate Communications and Marketing department. She will also work closely with Jody Williams, BMI Vice President, Writer-Publisher Relations. Branson is based in BMI’s Nashville office.

Jake Owen Throws Giant Beach Party For Fans In Nashville

After announcing across his social sites just days before, country star Jake Owen threw Nashville’s largest beach party for fans last night, Monday (8/18) at BMI.
