The Band Parry takes the stage for the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series at Ascend Amphitheater, at 7:00 p.m. The concert is open exclusively to runners and their friends and family at this time.

The musically themed road race attracts more than 30,000 runners who will take on the 26.2, 13.1-mile and 5K courses, while many of Nashville’s best live bands perform along the route. In addition, 3,500 junior racers will participate in KiDS ROCK Nashville presented by YMCA of Middle Tennessee, a one mile race taking place on Sunday, April 30.

“St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon & ½ Marathon, is a marquee event in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series,” said Katie Holmes, Event Manager. “We are thrilled that The Band Perry will headline this year’s post-race concert at the new Ascend Amphitheater celebrating the many musical genres that Nashville is known for. Their country roots and new pop sound are sure to keep the party rocking for runners and spectators after the race.”

During the marathon, thousands of St. Jude Heroes will run for a reason, hoping to raise more than $2 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Over the event’s 6-year partnership with St. Jude, nearly $8 million has been raised.

“The St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon & ½ Marathon uniquely unites the music industry, fitness enthusiasts and St. Jude Heroes who, together, are bringing children one step closer to victory in their fight against cancer,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., CEO of ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “The funds raised from this event and our St. Jude Heroes help ensure no family will ever receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food so that all they should worry about is helping their child live.”

The St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon & ½ Marathon weekend kicks off Thursday, April 27 with a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo at the Nashville Music City Center. All race participants will visit the expo to pick up their race numbers and browse over 100 exhibitors featuring free samples, the latest in running gear and sports apparel, as well as a series of interactive clinics.

Brand new for 2017, a 1-Mile race will be added to Thursday night, warming runners up for the main event. Participants can earn a third, bonus medal for taking on two days of running over the weekend, completing the inaugural ‘Remix Challenge’. Thursday’s 1-Mile race ends at Ascend Amphitheater where Jake Owen will play a ticketed performance, open to the public.

Fifty of Nashville’s favorite live bands will perform along Saturday’s course, interspaced with cheerleaders and themed water stations. Race weekend includes a post-race headliner concert at Ascend Amphitheater Saturday night where participants and volunteers receive free admission by reservation. The event concludes on Sunday afternoon with KiDS ROCK Nashville presented by the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, where more than 3,500 junior racers from grades K-7 will complete the final mile of their modified marathon.

Video Premiere Of “Shattered Glass” By Brett Sheroky

Watch this video premiere from new country artist Brett Sheroky with the debut of his song & video “Shattered Glass” here on FOCUS on the 615.  We think you’ll like his music as much as we do!

About Brett Sheroky

Originally from a small suburb just across the water from St. Louis, Missouri, Brett Sheroky made the move to Nashville the day after his wedding in 2009 at the request of his wife to pursue his dreams.

Leaving his past of playing in pop/rock bands behind, Brett knew the Nashville scene wasn’t going to be easy, but some unexpected news made things a bit harder for Brett throughout his early years in town. Brett was diagnosed with Cancer in November of 2009, just a few short months before making his move to Nashville. Seemingly putting his music on hold to some and spending his months undergoing chemotherapy, Brett was doing anything but resting. With any energy he had left from treatment and the frustrations of trying to start a family with his wife (which doctors said they would never be able to do), Brett devoted his time to perfecting his craft. “I take a lot of pride in my songwriting. I want to be known as a guy that writes a song. Not a guy that puts words to music.” And boy can this guy write a song. His talent has been recognized by songwriters throughout Nashville, as well as some “higher ups.” Despite Brett’s sole focus on being strictly a writer in town for the last seven years, he has recently signed a production deal with Torrez Music Group and has been working tirelessly to finish the project. It’s not easy when you’re working two jobs trying to provide for a family at home while simultaneously attempting to make a splash in the music industry. That’s right, I said family.”

Brett Sheroky lives cancer-free out in Bellevue with his three little girls and his wife, Christy, and makes daily trips to Nashville to write, work, and record. His self-titled debut album is due out Summer 2017, and with songs like “Alcoholiday,” it’s bound to not leave your speaker system.

Delta Rae Debuts “A Long And Happy Life” At Radio Today

Pictured (L-R): Brittany Hölljes, Grant Emerson, Ian Hölljes, Liz Hopkins, Mike McKee, Eric Hölljes Single Image Courtesy of The Valory Music Co.

Fueled with a passionate melodic delivery of honest lyrics, DELTA RAE debuts “A Long And Happy Life” today. The new single is available now and marks the six-piece Durham, NC-based band’s first release on Big Machine Label Group’s imprint The Valory Music Co.

Brothers Eric and Ian Hölljes penned the buoyant “A Long And Happy Life,” offering fans a soundtrack to jumpstart their summer with an earnest hope that the best seasons are still to come. The song name comes from a book of the same title written by Ian’s dear friend, the late Reynolds Price. Lyrics from three other literary works – William Styron’s Lie Down In Darkness, Pat Conroy’s The Prince of Tides and The Water Is Wide – are woven throughout as homage to the Southern storytelling they admire.

With roots firmly planted in the South, Liz Hopkins and Brittany Hölljes front the robust group with their sultry harmonies rounded out by Eric (vocals, piano) and Ian (vocals, guitar) as well as Mike McKee (drums) and Grant Emerson (bass). Delta Rae chose their moniker from a mythical story the Hölljes siblings’ mother crafted about a Southern girl of the same name who summons the Greek gods to earth. The band’s sound defies parameters – a little bit Americana and Gospel combined with equal parts Country, Rock and Bluegrass – being most influenced by their geographical location as they’ve traversed the globe and experienced life.

Since forming in 2009, Delta Rae has graced stages at esteemed festivals such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and more with their larger-than-life live show. The band will headline several dates throughout their A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE SUMMER TOUR 2017, which kicks off in May. Tickets go on sale at DeltaRae.com beginning this Friday, March 17.

Old Dominion Releases New Song “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart”

RCA Nashville’s hitmakers and reigning ACM New Group of the Year, Old Dominion, releases new music today, March 10. The new single from 2017 ACM Group of the Year nominees, “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart,” arrives at Country radio, digital retail and streaming services today. Written by Old Dominion band members Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi, as well as Jesse Frasure, the band again enlists GRAMMY Award-winner Shane McAnally, who produced Old Dominion’s debut album in 2015, the GOLD certified Meat and Candy, to produce “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart.” The new song is the first taste of new music from the band’s highly-anticipated forthcoming sophomore album.

“No matter who you are, where you live or your current status, people both old and young face more challenges than ever,” says Old Dominion’s front man Matthew Ramsey. “It’s in the face of those challenges and standing at the edge of fear that we have to remain positive. Focus on the light that comes from positivity instead of being swallowed up. Work hard at doing what you feel is right.  Don’t be scared!! Live life like there’s no such thing as a broken heart.”

“No Such Thing as a Broken Heart” Lyrics
I wonder if Jack and Diane ever made it
After the drums and the guitars all faded
Was the best they could do good enough
Or did the heartland just swallow them up

How did my mom and my dad ever do it
If there were struggles then we never knew it
I guess they had each other and that was enough

CHORUS
You know you can’t keep the ground from shaking
No matter how hard you try
You can’t keep the sunsets from fading
Gotta treat your life like you’re jumping off a rope swing
Cause the whole thing’s really just a shot in the dark
Gotta love like there’s no such thing as a broken heart
Yeah you gotta love like there’s no such thing as a broken heart

What am I gonna tell my kids when they see
All of this bullshit that goes down on TV
When the whole world is down on it’s luck
I gotta make sure they keep their chin up

Cry when it hurts
Laugh when its funny
Chase after the dream
Don’t chase after the money
Know we got each other and that’s what’s up

CHORUS
Cause you can’t keep the ground from shaking
No matter how hard you try
You can’t keep the sunsets from fading
Gotta treat your life like you’re jumping off a rope swing
Cause the whole thing’s really just a shot in the dark
Gotta love like there’s no such thing as a broken heart
Yeah you gotta love like there’s no such thing as a broken heart

Gotta love like there’s no such thing as a broken heart
