My Top 10 Picks In Country Music For 2014

FOCUS on the 615Well, it’s that time of year that I thought I would reflect on the top 10 artists in country music that I think you should be listening to and worth some time.  Obviously, these are not based on anything but my subjective taste.

Give them a listen and hope you enjoy!

In no particular order, because I can’t decide:

1) Miranda Lambert:  Her music is always ballsy and she isn’t afraid to take risks.  “Platinum” is a perfect example of this.

2) Josh Abbott Band: Solid Texas country.  Music to my ears!

3)  Mary Sarah:  Young, dynamic singer who puts me in mind of Carrie Underwood with an affinity for the country classics.  Check out her duets album with many of the country legends called “Bridges”.

4) Brandy Clark: Solid songwriting and vocals.  So much depth here.

5) Charlie Worsham:  Have you heard his album “Rubberband”? Amazing musicianship, quality songs, and great voice to boot!

6) Kristian Bush: Great songwriting and love the solo effort by this great artist that too many only know as 1/2 of Sugarland.  Get to know him–endearing AND talented.

7) Ray Scott: Deep baritone voice, traditional country, and plays by his own rules.

8) Zac Brown Band: Again, amazing musicianship and quality songs.  They should be winning more awards.

9) Will Hoge:  I want to hear much more from him.  Incredible songwriter and very authentic artist.

10) Lucy Hale: Why are we not hearing more from her on the radio? I think she has distinctive vocals, quality songs, and a very endearing personality that country music fans would love if allowed to get to know.

Bonuses: Because I couldn’t narrow to just 10.

Lee Brice: Proven skills as a hit songwriter and great vocals.  So much depth in his songwriting.  No bro-country here.

Lucy Angel: You’ll be hearing much more from them and you can’t help but love them.  Family trio with a brand new docu-series debuting on AXS-TV on 1/13.

I hope to hear much more from all of these people in 2015!
