Mary Sarah is our Artist of the Month for July! Get to know this dynamic, new country artist a little better as she prepares to release her studio album ‘Bridges’ on July 8th!

Her highly-anticipated album features duets on country classics with such legends as: Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, The Oak Ridge Boys, Vince Gill, Tanya Tucker, and many more!

We recently asked Mary Sarah 10 questions to get to know her better.  Check them out below! You can also see her interview with us back in June at CMA Music Festival HERE.

1)  Three words to describe yourself?

“Driven; Spontaneous; Social”

2)  What do you enjoy doing in your off time?

I enjoy spending time at the pool, beach, working out and hanging with family and friends.”

3)  What is something that people don’t know about you or would be surprised to learn about you?

I hate salads.”

4)  Do you have a charity that you support? Personal connection?

I support and am the National Spokesperson for a non-profit organization called Caiden’s Hope.  It supports families of pre-mature babies in the NICU.  They help to keep families connected to their babies when there is a long hospital stay involved through providing means of travel, hotels, meals and whatever is necessary to help through a difficult time.  It is truly amazing because they found me at an Oak Ridge Boys concert in Galveston, TX and asked me to be their National Spokesperson.  This was even before they knew that my brother, now 25, was born 16-weeks early, weighing a pound and a half.  He was in the NICU for 6 months before going home! So, YES, it is very personal.”

5)  What was your first experience on stage performing?

My first experience was rough! I was 8, and not only was I nervous but my piano teacher started in the wrong key – I had to stop him and start over in front of a crowd of people. I sang “The Yellow Rose of Texas,” once we passed the hiccup, it turned out pretty great!”

6)  If you weren’t in music, what else would you like to do as a career?

If I weren’t in music, I’d be in Radio or have a career as an Archeologist – I love discovering new/old things.”

7)  What is your favorite restaurant in Nashville that you like to eat at? Favorite food.

Right now, my favorite restaurant is Nashville is a tie between Soulshine Pizza and Taco Mamacitas – My favorite food is a great turkey sandwich on sourdough, with all the fixin’s of course!”

8)  Noticed you do some Tweeting in Indonesian (I believe that’s the language). Tell us about that. Did you do some missionary work there or live there? Just not what you expect from someone so young from Texas. 🙂

One day we just had a flood of Indonesians start messaging me on Twitter. It was pretty awesome that they found me, and the least I could do was respond to fans across the world. I use Google-translate to talk with them –so it’s neat that we have the capabilities to reach out across the world! They inspire me!”

9)  Tell us your favorite moment so far from your music career.

I have a lot of favorite moments so far – so many that it is truly hard to choose. As of today, I will say it was my historic Ryman Auditorium debut on April 17, 2014 honoring the late, great Ray Price. Not only did I get to be in the Hank Williams dressing room, but the Oak Ridge Boys, Lynn Anderson, Larry Gatlin and Janie Price were all there. Meeting Mr. Eddie Stubbs for the first time was a great moment within a moment too – he is walking encyclopedia of country music!”

10)  What’s coming up next for you after the release of your album?

After this album, I’m focusing more on my individual songwriting and getting my own work out there. Immediately, I am touring Texas to support the release of ‘Bridges,’ and I have a few national TV spots slated. I’ll also be heading out on a tour with a legend this August – there’s more to come on that. I am really just excited to get out there, perform and share both the music on ‘Bridges’ and the music I’ve written.”
