RASCAL FLATTS EARN #1 SPOT AT COUNTRY RADIO AND ON THE BILLBOARD COUNTRY ALBUMS CHART WITH REWIND

Superstars Rascal Flatts have once again proved why they are the most-awarded Country vocal group of the past decade as their ninth album REWIND sits atop the Billboard Country Albums chart while the title track marks their 15th #1 hit single after making the ascend on the Mediabase Country Radio chart.

REWIND, released on May 16 via Big Machine Records, is Flatts’ eighth consecutive studio album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. Jay DeMarcus with Rascal Flatts, Howard Benson and Dann Huff all contributed producing tracks on the project.

After appearing on “The Voice” and “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” last week, Flatts will swing by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” tomorrow night (May 23). They will perform on the “Toyota Concert Series on TODAY” next Friday (May 30).

In addition to radio and sales success, Flatts kicked off the REWIND Tour 2014 over the weekend (May 16) at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in St. Louis. The 35-city tour, presented by Live Nation, features special guest Sheryl Crow and opening act Gloriana. According to the St. Louis Dispatch“Rascal Flatts has started summer tours in St. Louis before, but maybe no opening night was better than the Friday night fun-fest the band staged.”

Commemorating Flatts’ 11th headline tour, REWIND Tour 2014 will continue to rock audiences throughout the summer with a final show at Detroit’s Comerica Park on September 21. Additional information is available at www.RascalFlatts.com.

Rascal Flatts to Launch New Album REWIND with Massive Media Appearances and Promotions

Country music supergroup Rascal Flatts will release their ninth studio album REWIND on Big Machine Records tomorrow (5/13) with several national TV and radio performances in addition to exclusive promotional events.

The album comes just as the lead single “Rewind” is nearing the top of the Country Radio charts.

As the best-selling Country group of the past decade, Flatts have debuted their last seven studio albums at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, a rare feat only achieved by four other artists. They’ve sold more than 22.5 million albums, scored 14 No. 1 singles, sold over 28 million digital downloads and earned more than 40 industry accolades, including six consecutive wins as the Country Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year.

Exploring new sonic territory, REWIND chronicles the joys and complexities of life. Spearheaded by bassist Jay DeMarcus, Flatts co-produced more than half of the album with acclaimed producers Howard Benson and Dann Huff contributing to several of the 13 standard and four deluxe tracks.

“Music has changed so much in the last few years and in order to stay relevant you have to change with it, but we also had to be true to ourselves,” says DeMarcus.  “REWIND is a combination of staying with what people know and love, the familiar Flatts, but also bridging the musical gap into today’s Country music and pushing the envelope a little bit. There is a delicate balance and I think we’ve done a pretty good job. There are songs on the record where people are going to say, ‘That’s vintage Flatts! That’s what I fell in love with’ and a whole new generation of country music listeners are going to go, ‘Wow! I didn’t expect this from them!’”

NASHVILLE, TN (August 6, 2012) – Country supergroup Rascal Flatts  give fans a preview of their new music video for their current single “Come Wake Me Up,” which is on the cusp of Top 20, with a behind-the-scenes special, which launched today at CMT.com.  The full video will make its world premiere Friday, August 10 on CMT at 6 a.m. ET, and run at the top of every hour during music hours.
Filmed in Nashville, the video includes a cameo by Joe Don Rooney’s wife, Tiffany Fallon.  Adding to the intensity of the dramatic scenes, two-time female street freestyle world champion Dena Sodano steps in Fallon’s role as the motorcycle stunt driver.  “Come Wake Me Up” was directed by Shaun Silva, who explains the idea behind the video as the fate of two people from entirely different worlds.

“So I had this story unfolding, this moment of – here’s a girl who really is just from a different world than what he’s from,” said Silva.  “Joe Don’s character is doing all the things anybody would want to do for someone they love, but it threatens her identity until one night after an argument, she removes a necklace like breaking free from his lavish grasp.  Her decision to leave, and his to chase after her, only pushes her further towards her foreshadowed fate.”

Rascal Flatts will be featured on CMT all week long as some of their biggest hit videos return to the channel, and will be introduced by the band themselves.  The video premiere will be promoted across all of CMT’s digital platforms including CMT.com, CMT Mobile and nearly 3 million social media fans.

Las Vegas, NV: (March 30, 2012) – General Mills and Big Machine Label Group’s star-studded roster of Country music artists are teaming up with Feeding America to Outnumber Hunger in a national initiative that helps fight hunger in local communities. Outnumber Hunger will help Feeding America secure up to 15.6 million meals for local food banks to assist the one in six Americans who struggles with hunger.

According to the USDA, an estimated 49 million Americans struggle with hunger, making the issue a growing reality in every community. By simply entering codes at OutnumberHunger.com, Americans can make a difference in their local communities at a time when it matters most.

“Hunger is a year-round issue but it can be especially critical in the spring, so Feeding America food banks need help now,” said Vicki B. Escarra, President and CEO, Feeding America.  “The combined reach that General Mills and Big Machine Label Group’s artists bring to the hunger crisis will help provide critical resources at this key time.”

This powerful group of partners is using its collective voice to rally Americans for the cause. Codes will appear on millions of specially-marked packages of General Mills products to give people the chance to help Feeding America secure five meals on behalf of their local food banks.

“As a leading food company, no cause is more important to us than the hunger issue,” said Cheryl Welch, Director, Outnumber Hunger at General Mills. “We’re thrilled to give people the chance to make a difference in their own communities through Outnumber Hunger.”

Specially-marked packages of General Mills products will feature an Outnumber Hunger code, as well as favorite Big Machine Label Group artists like Rascal Flatts. More than 10 General Mills brands, including Betty Crocker, Green Giant, Totino’s and Cheerios, will participate. Entering the code at OutnumberHunger.com helps Feeding America secure five meals on behalf of a local food bank. Participants enter their ZIP codes, and meals will stay in or near the area.

Big Machine Label Group artists also will offer select special codes on Facebook and Twitter that help Feeding America secure five meals for local food banks. Big Machine Label Group artists who are encouraging participation include Multi-Platinum-selling superstar artists Rascal Flatts, Reba, Martina McBride, and The Band Perry as well as established chart-topping acts Eli Young Band, Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert and newcomers Sunny Sweeney, Edens Edge, Ella Mae Bowen and Thomas Rhett.

“It takes a Big Machine to Outnumber Hunger, and we have an opportunity to make a huge difference in local communities,” said Scott Borchetta, President and CEO, of Big Machine Label Group. “That’s why we’re thrilled to come together with our artists, General Mills and Feeding America to help the hunger issue in a significant way. Together we can Outnumber Hunger.”

Additionally, the Outnumber Hunger partners have created an educational video with Rascal Flatts that highlights the issue of hunger and shows how anyone can get involved to help Feeding America. It will air during a Rascal Flatts theater event in New York City and in over 600 movie theaters across the country on the night of April 5. Tickets to the movie theater concert event can be purchased online at www.fathomevents.com.

“Our fans have always been strong supporters of us and our families,” said Joe Don Rooney, Rascal Flatts. “By being involved in Outnumber Hunger, we hope to provide that same support for those who may struggle with hunger. We’re grateful to have the chance to spread awareness of this important cause.”

General Mills will donate $0.65 to Feeding America—enough to help secure 5 meals on behalf of local food banks—for every code entered. To make a difference in your local community with Outnumber Hunger, visit www.OutnumberHunger.com.

Album Review: The Best Of Rascal Flatts LIVE

The Best of Rascal Flatts LIVEYou know the songs… now you get to hear them live whenever you want! Rascal Flatts has compiled a “best of” album of live hits; and although I would have preferred an entire set list to a random 10-song (with two medleys, so 12 and a half songs?) compilation, the album doesn’t disappoint.

I’ve never seen the superstar group live – mainly because I am not big enough a fan to dish out their asking price for tickets – but I’m such a fan of live music, I was excited to hear what they did with the songs.

The crowd sounds aren’t enhanced enough on the album to really tell what kind of show you’re listening to, but it’s pretty obvious many are taken from smaller shows, not arenas. A good idea, and a lovely setting for live recordings, but this is one of the biggest touring bands in the nation… give me arena energy. Having said that, the live versions really are enjoyable and the crowds are obviously in to it. Not to mention, the band sounds great and the guy’s harmonies are better featured here than in a studio.

As I said, there are two medleys on the album. The first is I’m Moving On, Skin (Sarabeth), and Feels Like Today… I don’t know what to think about that sample of songs. They are apparently just saving set list time by combining them. The second medley is their encore of classic rock songs: Boston’s Foreplay/Long Time, and Free Ride by The Edgar Winter Group. The thought of Gary Levox singing Boston had me questioning, but it’s fine… and Joe Don flat out shreds it on guitar.

They hit their big ones: Bless The Broken Road, What Hurts The Most, Stand, and their cover of Life Is A Highway. Missing from the album are Mayberry and Love You Out Loud, and I would have liked to hear Me And My Gang because I think that would be an awesome song live. That’s just me, but overall I think the song choices were solid.

One thing that can really turn me off from live albums is if the songs sound essentially the same as the studio recordings. Thankfully, this one gives so much diversity that it’s actually worth purchasing, even if you own every Flatts song already. Definitely worth listening to. Students earning online college degrees in music should add this to their collections.

5. Medley: I’m Movin’ On, Skin (Sarabeth) and Feels Like Today

6. Stand

7. These Days

8. What Hurts The Most

9. Life Is A Highway

10. Encore: Foreplay/Long Time, Free Ride
