This past Wednesday, Big Machine Label Group celebrated its newest platinum artist, Brett Young, with a California themed pool party.  Big Machine president, Jimmy Harnen, welcomed songwriters, industry executives, and a few lucky journalists to his house for a night of honoring Brett Young’s four platinum songs and his platinum album.

The PLATINUM milestones follow Young’s first three singles: “Sleep Without You” (PLATINUM), “In Case You Didn’t Know” (3X PLATINUM) and “Like I Loved You” (PLATINUM).  Brett performed the compelling tunes and offered a surprise preview of the first single off his upcoming sophomore album, “Here Tonight,” for his special guests.

After being greeted with “platinum” leis, guests were led to the backyard pool area, which was decorated with silver balloons and everything platinum.  Displays of Brett Young’s four platinum singles lined a walkway to a patio-turned-stage. The gazebo was transformed into a bar where party-themed cocktails like the “Mercy Mule” and “Los Angeles Lemonade” were available.  The food was catered by The Peg Leg Porker, and included all the BBQ necessities.  Randi Events was the official party planner.  Tiers of platinum cupcakes were the perfect dessert. The party also included a photo booth where guests captured themselves having fun and being silly.

“It was surreal being back where I first signed my record deal and seeing how much has happened since then,” Young said. “It’s crazy to think just three years ago I was in the same place just getting started with my team. I wrote this album from such a vulnerable and honest place, so it means the world that these songs have connected with people the way they have. The time has flown by, and I can’t wait to share the new music with fans soon.”

As the sun started to set, Brett Young took the “stage” and performed all 4 of his platinum songs. With the help of legendary musician and producer, Dann Huff, Brett rocked out and the two shared stories about Brett’s journey as a performer.  He thanked his songwriters, and producers, and let the guests in on some of the ups and downs he experienced along the way.  Brett Young ended his session with a new, up-tempo single that is coming on his second album.  After listening to the song, it is clear that Brett Young isn’t slowing down, and his second album may be even more successful than his first!

###

Brett Young’s “soothing, approachable” (New York Times) self-titled debut album became an instant success upon its release in 2017, dominating the Top 20 on the Country Albums chart for 37 weeks, quickly reaching RIAA PLATINUM Certification. Delivering four consecutive hits, Young became one of Country music’s new class of hitmakers as each single climbed to the top of the charts. Along with the success of his songs, Young’s music videos have added steam with “In Case You Didn’t Know” surpassing 194 million views and “Mercy” spending multiple weeks atop Vevo’s Top Country chart. Drawing in a devoted fan base with his unique voice that is “a gentle and seductive combination of silk and gravel” (All Access), Young has carved out his own lane in both performance delivery and songwriting. Named as the only Country act on Billboard’s Top 10 New Artists, Young continues to impress the genre and beyond with nominations from the ACM, Billboard, Teen Choice, CMT and CMA Awards. Above the industry successes, his relationship with fans found Young selling out every single stop on his debut headlining CALIVILLE TOUR and earning new followers on the road with Thomas Rhett’s LIFE CHANGES TOUR 2018. Country star Kane Brown’s Platinum-certified “What Ifs” featuring Lauren Alaina takes the #1 slot this week on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and puts an end to Sam Hunt’s hold on the #1 position after 34 consecutive weeks. #2 on Billboard’s country airplay, on demand audio streams and digital country song charts, Brown’s hit single has momentum yet to crest.

Released officially October 6th, Kane Brown’s Deluxe Edition of his self-titled debut album is available everywhere now. Country’s best-selling new-artist debut of the past two years, the album now includes four additional songs on the deluxe version and is trending #1 on the iTunes country chart, as has every album, EP, single and instant grat track Brown has ever released.

About Kane Brown

Even before signing his record deal in early 2016, rising star Kane Brown had already established a passionate online following in the millions.  Almost immediately, the RCA Nashville/Zone 4 singer/songwriter was making chart history with the release of Chapter 1, which became the highest-debuting country EP of the Nielsen SoundScan era and featured the RIAA Gold-certified “Used to Love You Sober.”  His Kane Brown full-length released in December 2016, debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and Top 10 on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart. Kane Brown also claimed the #4 spot as the best-selling new-artist album debut of 2016, in any  genre. The October 6, 2017 release of the 15-song Kane Brown Deluxe Edition builds on that success with four new tracks including “Setting the Night on Fire—a duet with Brown’s hero and RCA labelmate Chris Young—and “Found You,” a track that entered Billboard ’s Country Digital Song Sales chart at #1.  Earlier this year, Brown impressively earned his first ACM award nomination as New Male Vocalist of the Year, as well as a CMT Music Awards Breakthrough Video of the Year nod for “Used to Love You Sober.”  In addition to headlining his own series of sold-out tour dates, Brown was tapped for Florida Georgia Line’s 2016 summer tour and is currently a special guest on Jason Aldean’s They Don’t Know Tour.  Beyond his flourishing music career—and inspired by his personal experiences and a desire to lend his voice as a platform—Brown recently partnered with Make Room, the nation’s leading organization addressing the rental housing crisis in the U.S.   www.kanebrownmusic.com

MIRANDA LAMBERT’S PLATINUM DEBUTS AT #1 ON THE BILLBOARD 200

When Miranda Lambert went into the studio to record her new album,Platinum, she says she “went in without a plan, in order to keep the creative process fresh.” That fresh creative process pays off asPlatinum finds Miranda atop the all-genre Billboard 200 with the #1 album in the nation. In addition, she becomes the only country artist in the 50-year history of Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart to have each of her first five albums debut at #1. With 180,000 albums sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan,Platinum marks a 35% increase in sales over her previous album release. All four of her prior albums have been certified platinum.

In response to the news, Miranda said, “THANK YOU to the music lovers who believe in albums and spent your hard-earned money on 16 songs! 16 songs that all say something important to me. I hope that they also speak to you, and I hope you enjoy listening to Platinum. Thank you to the incredible musicians, songwriters, producers and artists that put this record together. I’m the luckiest girl in the world, blessed with the best fans!”

Fans aren’t the only ones celebrating Miranda’s new album.  Among Platinum’sshining reviews:

“With these songs, Lambert reinforces the principles underlying both Platinum and the rest of her career: feminine strength, force of personality, and command of the situation. Further commercial dominance is sure to follow.”
– Time Magazine

Lambert “earned her throne” by “singing top-shelf songs in the voice of a woman getting real. Listening to her records is like eavesdropping in a hair salon.”
– Rolling Stone (4-star review)

Platinum is “an old-school country wisecracker that’s one of her all-time best.”
– Entertainment Weekly (grade of “A”)

“Her characters in these songs — which feature some of the most incisive songwriting in any genre — are complex, self-confident and self-lacerating all at once, and most crucially, completely knowing and in on the joke.”
– The New York Times

“Yes, Lambert continues to grow. But at her core, she continues to celebrate the colorful drama of working-class lives…. The way she reflects modern women, complete with risqué word play and edgy humor, is what makes Lambert a fully three-dimensional country star.
– AP

Platinum’s debut single, “Automatic,” written by Miranda with Nicolle Galyon and Natalie Hemby, hit # 1 this week and has been certified gold. The song marks Miranda’s 7th#1 single. “Thanks to Country Radio for being so good to me over the years and helping me get to #1 this past week with ‘Automatic,’” said Miranda. “This song is dear to my heart as it reminds me who I am and where I come from. It was written with two amazingly talented girlfriends who deserve all the great things that come their way,” she continued.

Album Review: Miranda Lambert | ‘Platinum’

Miranda Lambert
With this brand new 16-track album entitled ‘Platinum’, Miranda Lambert’s 5th album seems both contemplative and playful rather than singing the revenge anthems like “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and “Kerosene” that she’s been known for.  This is a Miranda who is having fun with a little self-effacing humor about aging (“Gravity’s a Bitch”), talks about life from the female perspective (“Girls”), the demands of beauty (“Bathroom Sink”), some really traditional and throwback country that I could imagine being played in the honky tonks on Broadway in the 60s (“All That’s Left” featuring the Time Jumpers), rip-roaring, rocking songs (“Somethin’ Bad” with Carrie Underwood), and tender ballads (“Holding On To You”). Overall, Miranda seems to be in a very contemplative place in her life for this album and wanting to share a less serious side of herself taking chances throughout the entire album.
