Brian Owens & The Deacons of Soul To Perform At Musicians Corner Summer Concert Series On Saturday, June 3

On Saturday, June 3, 2017, national recording artist Brian Owens will perform at the 2017 Musicians Corner Summer Concert Series in Nashville’s Centennial Park. Owens and his band The Deacons of Soul (Alvin Quinn, Shaun Robinson, Rob Woodie) will take the main stage at 3:00 p.m.

Considered to be one of Nashville’s premiere outdoor music destinations, Musicians Corner 2017 will feature over 150 local and national artists representing all music genres, food trucks, local artisan vendors, Kidsville activities and more taking place from 5-9pm on Fridays and from 12-5pm on Saturdays in May, June, August and September.

While Owens is no stranger to Nashville (he’s recorded here upon numerous occasions), this will be his first concert in Music City. His music is infused with blues, classic soul, folk, country and gospel resulting in a style uniquely his own, and his songs are uplifting, hopeful and motivational — music that makes you want to move. Nashville music lovers are sure to be impressed with his vibrant and spirit-stirring performances.

Owens first gained worldwide attention as the lead singer with the U.S. Air Force band Sidewinder that became an internet sensation and led to national appearances on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Fox & Friends,” at the White Housethe World Series and more.

As a solo artist, Owens has had several national releases, including MOODS & MESSAGES, PREACH, and his most recent SOUL OF FERGUSON, which was released in February 2017. The critically acclaimed project featured Grammy-winning vocalist Michael McDonald on the debut single, “For You.”

Owens is currently gearing up for the launch of SOUL OF CASH  in late June. It’s the second in a series of three projects he will release this year alone. The album finds the soulful singer-songwriter breathing new life into music of legendary Johnny Cash, including classics like “Ring of Fire,” “Man in Black,” and “Walk The Line” and more.

Field & StreamOpens May 26 and Runs Through November 5

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum will explore the life and career of Jason Aldean, two-time and reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, in the exhibition Jason Aldean: Asphalt Cowboy, Presented by Field & Stream, opening May 26.
Aldean has helped define today’s country music with his wide-open sound. The exhibit will recall the early encouragement he received from both parents, his move to Nashville, his struggle to get his music heard and his groundbreaking success with an independent record company. Running until November 5, Jason Aldean: Asphalt Cowboy will include childhood mementos, memorabilia from Aldean’s early career, stage wear, guitars, awards, photos and more from his personal collection.
“In ‘Asphalt Cowboy’ Jason sings about running underneath the stars on a ride that won’t let him go,” said museum CEO Kyle Young. “Years of touring across the country, burning up the asphalt, have led him to country music superstardom on a ride that’s far from over. We are pleased that he will join Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood among the contemporary artists we have featured in special summer exhibits examining country music in the twenty-first century.”
“I could not be more honored to have an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum,” said Aldean. “To look around the space and see my personal heroes and artists who helped shape country music is a surreal feeling. To be a part of a legacy like this really is a dream come true.”
Field & Stream, a specialty outdoor retail and product brand owned and operated by DICK’S Sporting Goods, is sponsoring the exhibit, to enable country music fans and outdoor enthusiasts from all over the nation to get a closer look at one of the most iconic artists in the industry. Aldean has been a Field & Stream spokesperson since 2016.
“When we first started working with Jason, it was our goal to create an authentic partnership with someone who is genuinely passionate about the outdoors” said Lauren Hobart, executive vice president & chief customer & digital officer, DICK’S Sporting Goods. “We are not only thrilled to be supporting Jason’s exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, but we’re excited to help bring country music fans and outdoor enthusiasts closer to the music they enjoy.”

California native and powerhouse vocalist, Lara Johnston, recently performed a full band show on April 26th at the beautiful AURORA Nashville hosted by Caroline Hobby from Nashville Insider and “The Amazing Race”.

With her soulful pop sound and a voice reminiscent of today’s music greats like Kelly Clarkson or Pink, Johnston entertained a packed audience inside the AURORA Nashville studio while streaming live to an audience around the country through the AURORA site.

Johnston, just recently off the road after a world tour as backing vocalist for the iconic Don Henley, is confident, entertaining and takes full command of the stage.

Her songs are full of soul with her own pop mixture added and inspired by her musical influences of Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and many more Motown musical greats.

This is an artist to watch and one to see live as she delivers her original tunes with such an incredibly-strong voice that very few can muster.  Certainly a standout and a cut above many young artists today as she basically delivers what can only be described as a masterclass of voice & overall performance as she takes the stage.

She is a seasoned and polished performer who should be a household name already.  Think only time will tell for this star in the making who is making a buzz in Nashville.

Watch for her new album to be released very soon.

In a ceremony held earlier today on stage at Ryman Auditorium, Nashville Mayor Megan Barry issued a proclamation celebrating May 10, 2017 as Ryman Auditorium Day in honor of the iconic venue’s 125th anniversary.

“From its beginnings as a church to its years as the home of the Grand Ole Opry to its revival as the coolest concert venue in the world, the Ryman has a story like no other building – anywhere,” Mayor Barry said. “I’m grateful for everything the Ryman means to Nashville, and I’m excited to celebrate its first 125 years while looking forward to many more.”

Colin Reed, chairman and chief executive officer of Ryman Auditorium’s parent company, Ryman Hospitality Properties and Opry Member Vince Gill joined Mayor Barry onstage to celebrate Ryman Auditorium Day, which is also the 132nd anniversary of the meeting between Captain Thomas Ryman and Reverend Sam Jones that inspired Ryman to construct a grand tabernacle for the people of Nashville.

“As the owners of this Nashville treasure, we view ourselves as both the stewards and protectors of its rich and storied legacy,” said Reed. “We are thankful that Mayor Barry has chosen to recognize not only the historical significance of the Ryman but also its continued influence on Nashville’s thriving music and tourism industries.”

“If you think about it, music has had a great history here, but the real purpose of this building was to save people… and 125 years later it’s still saving people,” expressed Gill. “This place just has spirit that you can’t even put into words. It really is a magical place. The very first time I ever sang in this building it was just me and a guitar, and it was one of the most majestic experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I really felt that spirit move through me. This place more than any place I’ve been…I really felt that spirit. Whether I play here with a seven-piece band or a bluegrass band… no matter what you throw at this place it takes it and elevates it.”

About Ryman Auditorium

A National Historic Landmark, Ryman Auditorium was built as a tabernacle by Captain Thomas G. Ryman in 1892, served as the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943-74 and was completely renovated in 1994. The Ryman is open for tours during the day and at night offers a wide variety of entertainment performances, just as it has for over 125 years. The venue was voted the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Pollstar Theatre of the Year and recently took home its fifth-consecutive CMA Venue of the Year Award. Ryman Auditorium is owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. (NYSE: RHP), a Nashville-based REIT that also owns and operates the Grand Ole Opry, and 650 AM WSM. Fan voting begins today at CMT.com and continues until 12:01am ET on Monday, June 5th. Superstar show performances revealed last week include Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett.  Additional performers and presenters will be announced soon.

Known for its ability to break new artists and unparalleled collaborations with music superstars spanning all genres, the “CMT Music Awards” routinely outpaces itself and the competition as the industry’s most evocative fan-fueled trendsetting event. Last year’s “CMT Music Awards” once again earned its title as the hottest night in country music attracting nearly 4 million fans, its biggest to date, across a three network simulcast (CMT, TV Land and Nick@Nite) up +20% from the prior year. The awards also lit up social media with #CMTawards trending worldwide for 5 hours to rank as the #1 Series/Special on Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings for the day.

Jake Owen & Friends Bring The Beach To Nashville

On April 27th, Jake Owen brought his current tour to Ascend Amphitheatre in Nashville along with tourmates, LANco and Eric Paslay.

LANco started the evening out with a fun set, followed by Eric Paslay showing some smooth moves with “High Class“.

Then came Jake Owen to close out the evening.  As we readied for him to take the stage, a huge backdrop of a flamingo hid the set-up.  As the music started, the backdrop was slowly torn down to reveal Owen and his full band.

He entertained and kept the attention of the packed crowd downtown well into the evening.  Concertgoers sang, clapped, and danced along in delight at his high energy set.

Definitely a tour not to be missed as the native Floridian & friends KNOW how to entertain a crowd.

NFL veteran, Super Bowl Champion and now College Game Day Analyst on ESPNU, Kevin Carter and co-host Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts held the 16th Annual Kevin Carter’s “Waiting for Wishes” Celebrity Waiters Dinner at The Palm Restaurant on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.  The star-studded event will benefit The Kevin Carter Foundation and Make-A-Wish® Middle Tennessee.  The event raises funds to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.  Nashville’s premier celebrity event raised $125,000 Tuesday night and has now raised more than $2.1 million for charity since its inception in 2002.

Jay DeMarcus, Kevin Carter, Beth Torres and Ben Hanback from Make-A-Wish.
The sold out celebrity event was an exclusive, VIP evening where Carter and DeMarcus invited professional athletes, country music artists and various celebrities from all over the country to take over The Palm as servers before they head over to Honky Tonk Central for the Official After-Party – Jammin’  with Jay DeMarcus & Friends.  The event, presented by The Campbell Family Foundation and HCA, continues to be one of the most unique celebrity events in the country and is considered a “must attend” event for patrons and participants alike.  Nearly fifty celebrities joined in to wait tables, sign autographs and perform at the after-party.

The evening began with a cocktail reception for patrons at 5:45 p.m., followed by The Palm’s famous “Surf & Turf” dinner. A premier silent and live auction featured exotic trips, autographed celebrity memorabilia, and once in a lifetime experiences.  The celebrities served guests, signed autographs, and accepted donations to indulge the lively crowd.
The Official After-Party
In 2012 “Waiting for Wishes” expanded to include an Official After-Party – “Jammin’ with Jay DeMarcus & Friends.”  This informal jam session is tons of fun for patrons and servers alike. “Jammin’ with Jay DeMarcus & Friends” has featured impromptu performances from artists like Rick Springfield, Darius Rucker and Big & Rich.
“I am again so grateful to be able to host this incredible event in Nashville,” said ESPNU Analyst Kevin Carter.  “I’m thankful to my co-host Jay DeMarcus and the unbelievable celebrities that show up to wait tables for our patrons each year.  I am thrilled when I think about how many wishes we’ve been able to grant for children with life-threatening illnesses through our fundraising efforts and this event for the past fifteen years.”
