Old Dominion Play Bucket List Historic Ryman Auditorium Charity Show For “An Evening With Friends”

Tuesday night, acclaimed country band Old Dominion sold out and electrified the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for their special headline show: “An Evening With Friends.” The gig raised a total of $40K for charity, with half of the proceeds benefitting the Opry Trust Fund  and the other half benefitting the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.

Kelsea Ballerini Makes Powerful Return To Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena With Keith Urban

Commanding the stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday (8/24), it was a full-circle moment for Black River Entertainment’s KELSEA BALLERINI as she opened for KEITH URBAN on his GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR stop. Urban’s “Stupid Boy” inspired Ballerini to begin songwriting over a decade ago.

“I moved to Nashville at 15 to do just this,” she shared with the packed house. “My first opportunity was as a songwriter, and I feel like I’ve learned the most by listening to and watching songwriters.” Ballerini also offered advice to all the songwriters in the room wondering if Nashville is the next step in their own journey, “It is. Do it,” she added. “It could change your entire world.”

During her dynamic set, the Country superstar performed tracks from her acclaimed sophomore album UNAPOLOGETICALLY, including the title track, “Roses,” “Miss Me More,” and chart-climbing current single “I Hate Love Songs.” In addition to her GOLD-certified, history-making #1 “Legends,” she also spanned her career-launching PLATINUM-certified, #1 smashes: “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs,” and “Peter Pan,” from her GOLD-certified breakout THE FIRST TIME. Ballerini remains the only female artist in Country music history, including female duos and groups, to claim #1 with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album.

As a “fan of a songwriter,” Ballerini also conducted an arena-sized sing-along with a heart-stirring cover of Fleetwood Mac’s iconic “Landslide.” In addition, she joined Urban later on in the show to duet on his hit “We Were Us.” Applauding her powerful “poise and sass,” The Tennessean claimed, “Ballerini proved she can work an arena crowd and only needs half of a song to make them fall in love.”

The GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR continues next week with back-to-back shows at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, on Friday (9/7) and Saturday (9/8). Additional details on venues, cities, and dates running through November can be found here.

The 12-track compilation – all written or co-written by Ballerini – features the GOLD-certified, #1 hit “Legends” and current chart-rising single “I Hate Love Songs.” This summer, she’s Keith Urban’s featured artist on the GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR, after wrapping her own sold-out headlining THE UNAPOLOGETICALLY TOUR. The record-breaker skyrocketed to stardom after releasing PLATINUM-certified, #1 smashes – “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs,” “Peter Pan” – from her GOLD-certified breakout THE FIRST TIME. Ballerini is the only female artist in Country music history, including female duos and groups, to go #1 with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album. Spotify Celebrates Hot Country With Exclusive Crop Circle Designs Of Luke Bryan, Kelsea Ballerini, And Jason Aldean

It’s summer time and with that comes many ways to enjoy country music in the great outdoors, from backyard barbecues to lakeside bonfires to countryside hikes. To pay homage to one of the Heartland’s great summer outdoor traditions in a truly unexpected and unique way, Spotify Hot Country has produced four exclusive custom-designed crop circles featuring three superstar country artists as well as the Hot Country logo.

Jason Aldean

The spectacular crop circles were created by the Nashville-based renowned crop circles artist Stan Herd, known for creating visual masterpieces using fields as his canvas. He skillfully recreated the faces of music stars Luke Bryan, Kelsea Ballerini, Jason Aldean and the Spotify Hot Country logo in fields outside Lawrence. Each crop circle took approximately one week to create and will last for approximately three weeks.

Kelsea Ballerini

“I usually begin with a simple concept that speaks to something I believe in and a statement that I think is important to make with my art,” said Stan of his artistic process. “When I get to the point that I decide to actually take the drawing to a field, I create a gridded drawing to the site and try to gauge how it might fit the field or terrain. I work with crews to lay out the grid, maybe one inch equaling 20 feet, and begin the simple outline with a weedeater or other tools into existing crops or vegetation. Then we begin to gauge the work through aerial recon or drone shots.”

Luke Bryan

According to Brittany Schaffer, Head of Artist and Label Marketing at Spotify’s Nashville office, “This year Spotify is making a concentrated effort to shine a spotlight on country music and to find truly unexpected ways to celebrate all things country. To give our fans something special we decided to work with artist Stan Herd to bring to life three of the world’s biggest country artists on a beautiful Kansas landscape to pay homage to the Heartland and country music today.”

To Stan, the tie between country music and the crop circle art is all in the roots. “Country music grew out of the experience of working men and woman with a true connection to the land and to United States history as it relates to and informs that cultural essence,” he explained. “It is called ‘Country Music’ because it is about a ‘country’ or rural lifestyle that includes that agrarian connection.”

Following the April re-launch of Spotify’s flagship Hot Country playlist as a newly enhanced video playlist, Spotify Hot Country’s high-profile events at CMA Fest in Nashville in June and the Hot Country Live concert series launch in NYC on July 4th, Spotify is continuing to roll out dynamic new content, playlists, artist takeovers, Fans First activations and live events that appeal to country music fans as well as a broader fanbase. These crop circles are the next step in Spotify’s country journey and show a truly creative spirit to highlight culturally-unique elements of the country music landscape.

Keith Urban (And Fans) Announce “GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR 2018” During Live Streamed Pop-Up Performance

At an unannounced pop-up show last night at Nashville’s Exit/In, GRAMMY Award winner Keith Urban enlisted his fans to officially announce his “GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR 2018,” and also took the opportunity to reveal that his forthcoming album will be called GRAFFITI U.  During a 2-hour surprise show, in front of a crowd of 350 lucky fans that poured out onto the streets, Urban also took time to introduce and perform with GRAMMY nominee Kelsea Ballerini, who will accompany Urban on the North American leg, as his supporting act.

It was Urban’s fans who took center stage for the tour announcement – a live streamed event that saw them during the feed, in cities across the country announcing the “GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR 2018” on white poster boards –  http://smarturl.it/KU-FanVideo.

“I’ve been full-on writing, recording, collaborating and creating with some incredibly talented people for GRAFFITI U, a lot of whom I’ve never worked with before,” said Urban.  “I can hear how some of the songs will translate live already, which really makes putting on a new show so exhilarating and I loved having our fans included in the announcement of the tour because it’s their tour too.”

The 58-city tour will kick off on June 15th at St. Louis’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre and will include 10 shows in Canada (supporting act TBA) as well as visits to cities in Nevada, Oregon, Alabama and Arkansas that Urban has yet to headline.  Urban’s shows have become concert events that electrify.  They’re unexpected, if not unpredictable, and have been hailed by media around the world as a “concert experience not to be missed.” The tour will feature many of Urban’s 23 #1 songs, as well as brand new songs that have never been performed live and an all-new concert production that promises to be as spectacular as never before.

“I remember hearing Keith Urban songs that stopped me in my tracks and made me want to drop everything and chase that kind of lyric and heart filled artistry,” says Ballerini. “He’s the best in the business and I can’t wait to fangirl and learn from him this year. Truly an honor to tour with him.”

Ballerini continues her record-breaking momentum with acclaimed sophomore album UNAPOLOGETICALLY (Black River Entertainment) featuring Top 10 single “Legends.” Regarded as her “grown-up statement” (Rolling Stone), the album follows her history-making GOLD debut THE FIRST TIME that delivered three consecutive #1, PLATINUM-certified smashes – “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Peter Pan,” “Dibs” – making her the only female artist in Country music to achieve this accolade. Praised by The New York Times as an “elegant songwriter,” Ballerini was most recently honored with the ASCAP Vanguard Award and ACM Gene Weed Milestone Award.

Kelsea Ballerini Releases Highly Anticipated Sophomore Album Unapologetically – AVAILABLE NOW

The wait is finally over, as Grammy-nominated hitmaker Kelsea Ballerini releases her latest album Unapologetically. The project serves as the CMA “Female Vocalist of the Year” nominee’s sophomore release, and the follow-up to the Gold-certified debut, The First Time, which also produced multiple Platinum-certified hits.  After just 9 minutes, the official release the album hit No.1 on the iTunes Country Albums chart and is No. 3 on the All Genre Albums chart.

“Legends,” the lead single from Unapologetically, has continued to turn heads while currently racing up the charts. The track immediately charged its way into the Top 15 on the iTunes All-Genre Songs chart within 12 hours of its release. Additionally, her empowering anthem “Miss Me More” stormed its way to No. 1 on the iTunes Country Songs chart upon its release two weeks ago. Ballerini shared one of her favorite fan-made videos showing off their fierce sides lip-syncing the song on her Instagram.

Ballerini is also returning to her roots, with a very special show this past weekend in her hometown of Knoxville, Tenn. The singer/songwriter performed a full set at her high school, Central High, this past weekend. The show was highly centered around the encore song, “High School,” which is featured on Unapologetically. The reflective ballad was penned solely by Ballerini, inspired by her experiences at Central High.  The emotional night concluded with the “Peter Pan” singer donating $20,000 to the school for future music programs. In an Instagram post, she called this, “the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever been able to do.”

Music City Meet-Up With Kelsea Ballerini And Colgate Optic White

NASHVILLE, TN – OCTOBER 25: Colgate Optic White and country music star Kelsea Ballerini hosts a Music City Meet Up in Nashville, TN at Atmalogy on October 25, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by Rick Diamond/Getty Images for Colgate Optic White)

This past Wednesday, we had a lovely afternoon at Atmalogy in Nashville thanks to Colgate Optic White and country star Kelsea Ballerini.

The beautiful coffee shop, cafe, and event space of Atmalogy served as the perfect location for the Music City Meet-Up brought to us by the fine folks from Colgate Optic White with Kelsea Ballerini as their face (and/or smile) for the upcoming CMA Awards in Nashville on Nov. 8th.

We enjoyed a nice lunch, mimosa bar, delectable desserts, lip touch-ups, photo ops on the beautiful, rose-covered swing while chatting with Kelsea, who looked stunning in red.

Afterwards, we enjoyed an informal Q&A that was livestreamed on Facebook with Sounds Like Nashville’s Lauren Black hosting the fun sitdown session to get to know Kelsea a little better.

The vibrant, fun, and beautiful Kelsea Ballerini is the perfect fit to be the face of Colgate Optic White at the CMA Awards.  Not only did/does she look dazzling in red, but her sparkling personality matches her sparkling smile.

Check out the Colgate Optic White dental care products in any store near you that sells health & beauty products for their expansive selection of great products to help get your smile as sparkly-white as Kelsea’s!

We enjoyed complimentary lip touch-ups to enhance our smiles while at the Music City Meet-up.

My personal favorite is the Colgate Optic White Designer Smile Collection featuring High Impact White toothpaste that works in just 3 days to get your smile 4 shades visibly whiter, the 360° toothbrush to help clean those hard to reach areas, and their Built-In Whitening Pen to help whiten while on the go.  Their High Impact White icy fresh mint-flavored mouth rinse helps get my smile whiter following brushing my teeth helping to freshen my breath and sealing out future stains without burning like so many other whitening products do.

Album Review: Kelsea Ballerini | UNAPOLOGETICALLY

Picking up right where THE FIRST TIME left off, Kelsea Ballerini brings us her sophomore album, UNAPOLOGETICALLY, releasing Friday, November 3rd.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years, you have no doubt witnessed the skyrocketing rise of Kelsea Ballerini in country music; everything from multiple #1 hits from her first release to her first headlining tour to CMA, ACM, and GRAMMY nominations.

Ballerini is a vibrant, sparkling star that has helped new female artists bust those doors open at country radio, which has been difficult for female artists to break through and get airplay in during recent years.  She is the first new female artist in years to achieve a #1 hit song, much less multiple #1 songs, off her debut album on Black River Entertainment.

This album covers the last two and a half years of my life in the order of how it happened. I released The First Time when I was 21. I was so new, and I was so excited to just be able to go out on radio tour and play shows. The things that I was going through in my personal life at the time I didn’t share; I wrote about them instead. So, this is the first time that I’m able to actually talk about my life and the amazing things that have happened – and the not so amazing things that have happened – over the last few years. I feel like being able to lay it all out as it happened, in order, honestly feels so liberating and freeing. Being able to sing that truth every night is going to be a such a big gift.

This album is no sophomore slump, as so many in the past have experienced.  As much as I loved THE FIRST TIME and wore it out in my car’s cd player, this album shows such growth and beautiful lyrical imagery from Ballerini that it has become my new favorite.

It is extremely-difficult for me to pick a favorite off of this 12-track release because I find something that I love in each and every song, but here goes:

“Graveyard” holds the strongest of lyrical imagery and this mid-tempo tune is probably my favorite as she sings of lost love that hurt her and not wanting to be “another heart in your graveyard”.

“Roses” is a mid-tempo tune that has that feel of exuberance as she looks back at how good a love once was with fond memories, but her heart has now healed and she is finally at a place in life where ready to move on.”

“End Of The World” will tug at your heartstrings as Ballerini sings of how she “thought the stars had lost their shine”.

“Unapologetically” brings Ballerini full circle as she sings of being “unapologetically in love” and how “it doesn’t phase me when they call me crazy”.  She is obviously singing about the love she has found in fiance, Morgan Evans, who is signed to Warner Music Nashville.

There is so very much to love about this album.  Ballerini shares her heart and her truth on this release as she brings you on her personal journey of heartbreak, personal growth, discovery of who she is, who she wants to be, and is living her life “unapologetically” out loud.  It is beautiful and a must-have for your music collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars.

Lady Antebellum Brings The House Down In Nashville

In what was the last stop of the North American leg of the YOU LOOK GOOD world tour, Lady Antebellum brought the house down along with tourmates, Kelsea Ballerini and Brett Young.

Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena held a capacity crowd that was dancing and singing along with all 3 acts all night long.  As Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott put it: “It’s been two years since we took this stage” with Charles Kelley chiming in that they were prepared to “leave it all out on the stage”.  They did just that.  After taking a break to work on some special projects they wanted to do, Lady Antebellum is back and better than ever.

Brett Young opened the night with a great performance to an appreciative crowd.  Midway through, he was presented with a multi-platinum achievement plaque by record label president, Scott Borchetta, along with other members of his team for his debut album and singles.  This is only the start of what is sure to be a successful career from the handsome, tall tunesmith.

Next, Kelsea Ballerini took the stage in an energetic performance entertaining the crowd with hits from her debut album and sprinkling in a few new tunes from her upcoming release.  Vibrant as ever, we look forward to hearing more from the always adorable artist who took the country world by storm right out of the gates and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, thankfully.

Finally, Lady Antebellum closed out the show with singing hits from their first album all the way through their current release.  They were enthusiastic and better than ever sharing how happy they were to be doing what they love for so many years in a heartfelt moment as they slowed it down a bit singing a few songs acoustically giving the band a break.  One of my favorites from that segment was their rendition of Shania Twain’s classic hit,“Still The One”.

“Without getting too nostalgic, this is a dream come true for us to close out this tour in Nashville,” said Charles Kelley. “For over ten years we have walked this journey with everyone here tonight and we couldn’t feel more blessed. Thank you to everyone who helped us make this tour the most unforgettable journey yet.”

My favorite moment of the night is when they brought out the full horn section from Nashville School of Arts to join their 2 incredible horn players that usually tour with Justin Timberlake, but joined them while he is on a break from touring.  They finished off their single from the current album, “You Look Good”, in stellar fashion creating my favorite memory from the evening.  Also loved the opening with just the two added horn players energizing and hyping the crowd on stage alone for a couple of minutes serving as the intro of the always incredible Lady Antebellum to enter the arena’s huge stage.  They poured their hearts out all night long and had a spectacular conclusion with an encore of “Bartender” transitioning into their mega crossover hit, “Need You Now”, and leaving the stage to a standing ovation from a very appreciative crowd.

They succeeded in accomplishing what they sought out to do, leaving it all out on the stage in a stellar performance lasting nearly two hours on a beautiful, cool, crisp fall-like evening in downtown Nashville.

Thanks, Lady Antebellum, for adding so much to the country genre with your harmonious sounds and constantly bringing your fans something fresh and new with each release for over 10 years. From their humble start playing at 3rd & Lindsley to packing arenas around the world, we hope to continue hearing from them for many more years to come. They are a must-see concert whenever they come to town.
