Album Review: “Under Fire” By Green River Ordinance

Why has it taken me so long to discover Green River Ordinance’s music? From the moment I first hit play on their recent release entitled Under Fire yesterday, I’ve been listening to it.  Can’t seem to get enough of it, actually. I’ve been loving a lot of the music that’s been coming across my desk lately, but I wouldn’t say I love it if it wasn’t true.  I promise you that.  I know what I like and I like this!

Green River Ordinance is an alternative rock band with an alt-country blend.  This is good quality music.  Solid all the way through.  Strong songs, great vocals, excellent musicianship, meaningful & intelligent lyrics, quality production…I can’t say enough good things about it.  It’s not the type of album you’ll listen to once and put away, that is for sure.  This is the type of album that I think would appeal to a very large audience of all ages.

Favorites for me on the album are “New Day”, which put me a little in mind of U2 and maybe a little of Green Day infused in there, too.  This is a mid-tempo song that most people can relate to.   A song about looking for grace, meaning in life, and looking for better days ahead.  Loved the whole message of it.  “Resting Hour” —a mid-tempo song about someone being there for you in your time of need.  “Heart Of Me” is another good one–mid-tempo and just flows.  “Healing Touch” — another ballad to mid-tempo song about being there for someone with a broken heart and at their darkest hour.  “Love Laid Down” is mid-tempo to uptempo about.  Really loved the lyrics of this song and the way it slowed down at the end with the added snare drum then built up at the end.

This album is just quality all the way through and you’ll be doing well to add this new album to your music collection if you love great music.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars.
