Julie Roberts To Release “I Couldn’t Make You Love Me” Available Digitally On May 17

On the heels of her revealing autobiography, Beauty in the Breakdown, Julie Roberts is back with new music. Singing about love, loss, roots, and dogged determination in a voice that’s never sounded bigger, Roberts’ new single, “I Couldn’t Make You Love Me,” produced by the legendary Rudy Perez, will be released May 17 on all digital and streaming platforms.

“It’s a song of strength, but also vulnerability”, explains Roberts. “Like so many of us, I’ve taken life in my two hands and created my own story. But no matter what mountains we climb in life, we can’t make someone love us. Rudy Perez, Mark Portmann, and the great John Bettis captured all of that in this song and I’m forever grateful to them.”

Roberts pours her heart into the empowering lyrics, (I have learned I can stand alone/ When the wind has turned against me/ I still made my way home/ Every bridge I crossed/ And didn’t mind the cost,) delivering a raw and soulful vocal.

Perez, a past recipient of Billboard’s producer of the decade award, has worked with everyone from Christina Aguilera to Beyonce, Luis Fonsi, and the legendary Sam Moore. “I jumped at the opportunity to work with Julie.  There are very few vocalists that have her mix of power, soul, and vulnerability all at the same time.”

The latest song is just the beginning of a new collection of music from the country star. Fans can find out more from Roberts on Thursday, May 16 at 8 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. CT on Facebook Live.  To sample and pre-save “I Couldn’t Make You Love Me”, click HERE.
