Kane Brown Celebrates First No. 1 Hit “What Ifs” With BMI, ASCAP And SESAC

RCA Nashville/Zone 4 artist and BMI songwriter Kane Brown celebrated the #1, double-platinum hit  “What Ifs” with co-writers Matt McGinn (SESAC), Jordan Schmidt (ASCAP) and featured vocalist/middle school classmate, Lauren Alaina (BMI). The record-breaking song marked Brown and McGinn’s first respective number ones as songwriters and recognized Brown’s historic achievement as the first artist in Billboard history to top all 5 Billboard Country charts concurrently. The chart-toppers include his hit single “What Ifs,” his current single, “Heaven,” and his #1 self-titled debut album. Brown and Alaina’s middle school choir teacher Mr. Lamar Gillespie (Mr. G) also made a surprise appearance. Just prior to this, Pinnacle Bank presented a donation on behalf of Kane Brown to the CMA Foundation to support music education. Kent Earls of Universal Music Publishing Group, Shane McAnally and Robin Palmer of SMACK songs, and Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard of Tree Vibez Music also spoke for each of the songwriters, commemorating the occasion.
