AARON LEWIS revved up excitement ahead of his solo album SINNER last night as he previewed tracks from the album, set for release September 16 on Dot Records. Hundreds of fans flocked to 12th & Porter last night (8/31) – in addition to Lewis’ friends and industry comrades – as he belted his odes to the genre like current single “That Ain’t Country,” “Northern Redneck” and the title track. Grammy Award-winning artists Alison Krauss and Dan Tyminski joined Lewis onstage for a bluesy rendition of “I Lost It All” as well as “Whiskey And You” and “Mama.” The event was live streamed on Facebook, garnering over 90,000 views in under 24 hours: https://www.facebook.com/AaronLewisMusic/?fref=ts.
Lewis shared insight into the recording process of his latest project, which took place over 16 hours at Nashville’s Blackbird Studios under the helm of legendary producer Buddy Cannon (George Strait, Merle Haggard, George Jones). The result is a collection of “honest observation songs” from the former frontman of Staind, who cites Kid Rock as an influence and “a gateway to Country music.” The twang-filled soundtrack showcases Lewis’ vocal authority, which has garnered a cult-like following.
“I listened to new Country radio for an entire day,” Lewis shared before launching into his single. “Those artists inspired me and I need to thank them. So did the greats because they remind me what real Country is. This is music I grew up on.”
