BRANTLEY GILBERT announces the rescheduling of his European BLACKOUT TOUR dates for early May. After kicking off his global run with a sold-out show November 11 at Melkweg in Amsterdam and playing Hamburg’s Fabrik and Munich’s Technikum, the outlier songwriter opted to cancel the remainder of his dates in Europe in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks that stunned the world.
At the time, Brantley issued a statement via Twitter, stating, “Out of respect for the lives lost in yesterday’s terrorist attacks, we have decided to postpone the rest of our European dates. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of France at this tragic time. WE WILL BE BACK.”
That time begins May 5 in Glasgow at Oran Mor. The back-to-back platinum-selling artist will follow that show with a May 6 play at Manchester’s Academy Two, May 7 at Birmingham’s 02 Institute 2 and May 8 at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
“At a time like that, there are more important things than getting up and rocking out,” Brantley explains. “We took a moment to pray, regroup allow people time to grieve. But we said we’d be back… and we’re coming.”
For the man who’s scored six #1 songs as an artist and songwriter, his word is very important to him. Just as importantly, he wants to make sure everyone coming out can enjoy the evening without the cloud of something so onerous over their heads.
“This is why I play music,” Brantley says. “To bring it to the people…to bring them together. We are in this together, and these songs I write are their lives, too. For me to go to places like Germany, England, Scotland – it makes the world bigger and smaller, and I like that. We’re not so different. People like to rock and be real; that’s what we’re finally getting to do.
The JUST AS I AM singer will kick off the North American leg of his BLACKOUT TOUR January 28 in Saginaw, Michigan. The 28-date run will break for a trip to Queensland, Australia for the CMC Rocks QLD at Willowbank Raceway on March 12, then return to the U.S. before wrapping up April 30 at the Pinnacle Bank Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
