Worldwide Executive of Electronic Arts, Steve Schnur, is featured in Variety’s ‘Music City Impact Report’ and is among an elite group of Nashville executives and artists labeled as being some of Music City’s most influential.

Schnur, who is on the forefront of making Nashville a world-class destination for creating and recording orchestral scores, commented in the article, saying “Nashville is increasingly becoming the new destination to record film, TV and game scores with world-class orchestral musicians and world-class recording facilities. So much of the work has been going to Eastern Europe and now so much is coming to Nashville, due to the success and quality of scores for game projects like ‘Dragon Age Inquisition,’ ‘Star Wars Old Republic,’ ‘FIFA’ and ‘Madden NFL.’”

Schnur, also a songwriter signed with Sea Gayle, believes these moves not only help the industry, but also the city of Nashville. “This is a major force behind helping to restore Nashville’s music middle class, which has large economic benefits and keeps musicians working,” he continued.

In 2001, Schnur made a leap to work in video game music supervision with EA, the largest video game producer in the world, to bring original musical scores to the gaming industry. Heading the creation and development of music in EA’s top game franchises, Schnur has been responsible for bringing both established stars and composers and promising new artists together to create a series of groundbreaking and award-winning scores and soundtracks that have brought both the musicians’ careers and the video game music industry to new heights, including Thirty Seconds To Mars, Katy Perry, Florence + the Machine, and Chromeo.

Before Schnur came to the industry, video game music was viewed as an afterthought. Seeing the potential to use music in video games to create a more complete emotional connection and journey, Schnur used his position to completely reshape the video game music industry. He has since produced numerous EA soundtrack albums and earned multiple nominations.

From record label promoter, record producer, songwriter, A&R and marketing to music supervision for films and video games, Schnur’s talents and contributions in the business have delivered numerous successes in a diverse range of segments in the industry.  He has been profiled by the New York Times, London Financial Times and CNN, and he was named “One of the Most Creative People In Entertainment” by Entertainment Weekly, “One of the Most Powerful People in the Music Business” and “One of the Top 20 Power Players in the Digital Entertainment” by Billboard, and “One of the Top 25 Power Players in the New Hollywood” by The Wall Street Journal. He has also received a number of awards, including MusExpo’s 2014 International Music Supervisor of the Year Award, MusExpo’s 2009 International Music Person of the Year award, ACLU’s Bill of Rights award, the Guild of Music Supervisors’ 2012 Music Supervisor of the Year award.
