Country Music Hall of Fame member Bobby Braddock will share stories and tales from his new memoir, Bobby Braddock: A Life on Nashville’s Music Row, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 1:30 p.m.

Hosted by museum staff member Jay Orr, Braddock will share some of the colorful stories that fill the pages of his second memoir—this one chronicling his remarkable songwriting career. Braddock will read selections from his book, and he will have a piano nearby, to illustrate the talk with music.

Bobby Braddock: A Life on Music Row begins as he travels with his new wife from Florida to Nashville, to pursue a career in the music business. After a stint as Marty Robbins’s piano player, Braddock settles in at Tree Music, where he writes—or sometimes co-writes—such classic country songs as “D-I-V-O-R-C-E,” “Golden Ring,” “Time Marches On,” “I Wanna Talk About Me,” “People Are Crazy,” and the song many consider the greatest country song ever written, “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” Braddock also secured a recording deal for Blake Shelton and produced his first three albums and several big hits.

Following the program, Braddock will sign copies of the book, available for purchase from the Museum Store. The program is included with museum admission and free to museum members. Seating is limited, and passes are required for admittance. Museum members may reserve their program passes in advance by phone (615-416-2050) or via reservations@countrymusichalloffame.org. The interview will be streamed live on the museum’s website.

Advance Praise for Bobby Braddock: A Life on Nashville’s Music Row

“Bobby is a songwriters’ songwriter who has a great gift for portraying what is real and genuine—a true poet. I’ve always loved him, and I get a kick out of his take on things. I am sure you will feel the same reading about his life on Music Row. Enjoy!”
–Dolly Parton, Country Music Hall of Fame member, singer, songwriter, and entertainer

“Bobby Braddock is the greatest of all the country music songwriters, and he’s written a rip-roaring history of Nashville and the characters who have made it what it is. He spins the stories of the greats and not-so-greats, the dreamers and the schemers, the bit players and the stars. I laughed out loud and maybe shed a tear or two. It’s a great read for both country fans and those who wouldn’t know country from Cole Porter. I loved it!”
–Bob Schieffer, CBS News

“This memoir combines penetrating self-revelation and very readable storytelling from an almost painfully smart, always generous writer who’s able to look back at the charms and foibles of his younger, rougher self with perspective and endearing humor. There’s only one Bobby Braddock, and he’s in these pages.”
–Barry Mazor, author of Ralph Peer and the Making of Popular Roots Music and Meeting Jimmie Rodgers
