Country Music Hall of Fame member Bobby Braddock will share stories and tales from his new memoir, Bobby Braddock: A Life on Nashville’s Music Row, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 1:30 p.m.
Hosted by museum staff member Jay Orr, Braddock will share some of the colorful stories that fill the pages of his second memoir—this one chronicling his remarkable songwriting career. Braddock will read selections from his book, and he will have a piano nearby, to illustrate the talk with music.
Bobby Braddock: A Life on Music Row begins as he travels with his new wife from Florida to Nashville, to pursue a career in the music business. After a stint as Marty Robbins’s piano player, Braddock settles in at Tree Music, where he writes—or sometimes co-writes—such classic country songs as “D-I-V-O-R-C-E,” “Golden Ring,” “Time Marches On,” “I Wanna Talk About Me,” “People Are Crazy,” and the song many consider the greatest country song ever written, “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” Braddock also secured a recording deal for Blake Shelton and produced his first three albums and several big hits.
Following the program, Braddock will sign copies of the book, available for purchase from the Museum Store. The program is included with museum admission and free to museum members. About the Author
Bobby Braddock is a songwriter and producer who has worked for five decades with singers and musicians in Nashville. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2011, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1981, and the national Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015. He is author of Down in Orburndale: A Songwriter’s Youth in Old Florida.
