The City Winery Nashville Tasting Bar makes its debut with exclusive Nashville-inspired wines that have been blended, cellared, and bottled right here in SoBro. The City Winery winemakers have been diligently working for nearly a year to bring the winery to life and offer guests locally-crafted wines, the first of many being the “Roundabout Red” and “Two Rivers Chardonnay.”
City Winery’s head winemaker Bill Anton details the inspiration behind both wines: “We chose the name ‘Roundabout Red’ since this wine was our very first blend on site. For those familiar with Nashville, you’ll know that our location is right off of the roundabout at 8th Avenue South, and we felt Roundabout Red was a great name for an all-around unique red blend.”
“For the ‘Two Rivers Chardonnay,’ the grapes were sourced in Russian River Valley, California, and the wine was Barrel Aged in neutral French Oak Barrels for about a year. We felt with the Two Rivers of the Nashville area and the grapes originating from the Russian River, that this was a perfect name for our first Chardonnay.”
These custom blends are available at the brand new Tasting Bar within the walls of the restaurant, while dining, and for retail purchase. The Tasting Bar is open every Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 5 p.m., as well as on major show nights, but retail is available during any and all operation hours. Tastings include individual sips of City Winery’s current wines, flights and tours of the winery can be scheduled separately.
Since opening in October 2014, City Winery Nashville has become one of Music City’s hot spots and the best place to enjoy a glass of vino with its largest, most extensive wine list in Nashville with over 450 wines available. Come this Fall, it will be the only winery in Music City limits to produce its own wine when the first shipment of grapes arrives from Napa Valley and the first crush begins.
