TRAVELLERS REST TO HOST A BEHIND THE SCENES HISTORY TOUR

Travellers Rest will host Behind the Scenes History: A Gentleman’s Death – The Deadly Jackson – Dickinson Duel on Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. This behind the scenes tour will showcase information and artifacts that are not part of the routine tour of the historic home available to the general public. This event is suitable for ages 12 and up, and tickets are $15 per person.

In making the announcement, Travellers Rest Executive Director Mary Kerr said, “This event provides a unique educational experience for visitors who are interested in getting a rare behind the scenes look at the historic grounds while also learning about a famous duel that took place more than 200 years ago.”

Guests will join Tonya Staggs, Travellers Rest’s education director, on a special tour that will focus on the Overton family’s connections to a few infamous Tennessee duels. Special attention will be given to the deadly Andrew Jackson – Charles Dickinson Duel that took place May 30, 1806 at the historic home.
