The Cheatham County Animal Awareness Foundation (CCAAF), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, will host it’s first annual “Wine and Whiskers” fundraising event from 6pm – 9:30pm on Thursday, May 14th at the Harpeth Art Center & Gallery in Pegram.
The event features the music of Grammy-nominated guitarist and producer, Denny Jiosa, and an encounter with the Music City Medium, Cindy Kaza, on her 2015 tour. Cindy tours the United States and abroad, sharing her gift and giving her audiences a rare and exciting opportunity to connect with their loved ones who have passed on.
The general ticket price for the event is $40 and includes wine, hors d’oeuvres and desserts. VIP seating and an S-Wag Bag are available for $65 per person. This is a unique and intimate event, so seating is limited. Wine and food for the event is to be provided by popular area sponsors and friends, including Red Wine and Spirits, Coco’s Italian Market, Monell’s and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
The event also features art exhibits and both a live and silent auction. Auction items are being added daily, and anyone can follow the event’s Auction Donation page atwww.WineandWhiskers.com. All proceeds from the fundraiser are used by CCAAF to cover the cost of spay/neuter and vet services for Cheatham County pet owners needing financial assistance, and to find responsible homes for dogs and cats abandoned to the county’s animal control facility.
According to the Humane Society of the United States, nearly 4 million dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters every year, due to overpopulation. “In Cheatham County alone, more than 150 litters of puppies and kittens are left behind every year at Animal Control,” says Cindy Weiss, president of the CCAAF. “But through our spay and neuter program over the last ten years, that number has been cut almost in half. There is still much work to be done to prevent the needless suffering of these animals.”

In 2014 alone, the Cheatham County Animal Awareness Foundation:
- Sent more than 700 cats and dogs to rescue homes
- Provided low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for 575 animals
Our 100% volunteer group works tirelessly to provide a better life to animals in Cheatham County. CCAAF currently consists of 21 full- and part-time volunteers who rescue and rehabilitate animals, foster puppies, kittens, dogs and cats, and answer the hotline to schedule spay and neuter surgeries. Money to fund the foundation is generated solely through fundraisers, private donations and grants, and every cent raised goes directly to the animals’ care. CCAAF is a registered 501c3 organization, established in 1997.
