A Look Back At The 8th Annual ACM Honors

ACM HonorsNow in its 8th year, the Academy of Country Music recently held ACM Honors here in Nashville on September 9th at the historic Ryman Auditorium aka The Mother Church of country music.  A fitting choice to honor both today’s country stars and country legends all in one night.

ACM Honors is held to honor those off-camera ACM Awards winners from this past spring.   It is a more scaled back production from the main awards show typically held in Las Vegas with a bit more of a personalized touch with winners being presented their awards by close friends in the music industry.  It still has the glamor and excitement of all the country artists present walking the Red Carpet before the show.

See the video below for highlights from the evening courtesy of the Academy of Country Music:

Along with the presentation of awards, the evening was filled with great musical performances paying homage to the honoree and hosted by the always charming Jake Owen.

One of the most memorable performances was that of Hillary Scott (Lady Antebellum), Kelly Clarkson, and Kacey Musgraves as they sang a musical montage of each of their hits.  Other performers included Hunter Hayes, Will Hoge, LeeAnn Womack, The Swon Brothers, and many more.

My favorite presentation and acceptance speech was given by Carrie Underwood.  Such a gracious person all-around.  She was brought to tears by her award presentation.  Carrie is extremely endearing and one of the reasons why she has had such a long, successful career.

Another memorable moment was when Rascal Flatts was presented their award by football star Tim Tebow.  They even had a little fun as they all did Tebow’s trademark position at the end.

Favorite quote from an acceptance speech during the evening was: “I want to thank my mom for having me, God for saving me, and country music for loving me.” –Dean Dillon

A great evening of music and honors all the way around where the Opry first began.
