Love And Theft’s Stephen Barker Liles Celebrates 29th Birthday

Stephen Barker Liles, one half of hot Country duo Love and Theft, enjoyed an extended 29th Birthday celebration last week filled with music and friends.

On Wednesday, Stephen and Eric joined an “in the round” evening at the Bluebird Café, revered as a hallowed haunt for Nashville’s best songwriters. Love and Theft played their #1 hit “Angel Eyes,” current single, “Runnin’ Out of Air,” and revealed some new songs. Later, the group dined at a local hibachi grill.

Thursday was Stephen’s actual birthday. First, he and Eric spent the day writing with The Warren Brothers, another dynamic duo who collaborated with Love and Theft on their current album. Later, Stephen was surprised by friends when he arrived home to find a house full of balloons with handwritten messages on each one. The party then moved to a karaoke club, where Stephen selected The Eagles “Seven Bridges Road” to sing.

“I like to find a reason to celebrate every day and since it was my birthday, I had extra incentive!” says Stephen with a grin. “But I gotta say, it was really special to spend time in town writing songs, resting and then getting such an awesome surprise from my friends. They put so much thought into showing me how much they care and it was incredible! We’ve been lucky enough to be able to travel and tour all over but times like this remind me of what a blessed life I have here in Nashville.”

Love and Theft is currently nominated for “New Vocal Duo or Group,” one of three fan-voted newcomer awards. Fans can vote daily at VoteACM.com until Monday, February 4th (3:00pm EST). The winners will then compete for New Artist of the Year at the 48thAnnual Academy of Country Music Awards (Broadcast live on CBS on Sunday, April 7th, 2013).

Their latest single, “RUNNIN’ OUT OF AIR” is the second from the album Love and Theft (RCA Nashville). The song is a slinky Country rocker that describes the breathtaking intoxication of desire when the person you want is so good…and so bad. Penned by Matt Jenkins, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne, it has inspired industry insiders to call it a country hit flavored by The Eagles and Maroon 5.
