“(Redneck Reunion) Party Like A Redneck” by country singer, Amy Rose, is the first single from Amy’s forthcoming third album. The song was co-written by Amy and her producers Glenn Coulson and Marty Beecroft of After Tuesday Productions.
The song itself is pretty cliche with many references to what many people THINK is how it is in the South and to me it was a very forgettable song. There were too many tempo changes throughout the song that it didn’t flow just right and just didn’t make it easy to listen to for me. It was, also, overly-produced with a crowd hollering in the background towards the end, too much electric guitar, and the whole mix with the instruments was overpowering her voice throughout.
Now, let’s talk about what I DID like about the song: Amy’s voice. Her voice is strong and reminiscent of talented vocalists like Miranda Lambert or Carrie Underwood. With the right song, she could go places. This just isn’t it. Something with more depth that people can connect to, scaled back production to let her voice shine–think Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take The Wheel” or Miranda Lambert”s “Over You”. An emotional and powerful song along those lines would be perfect for her.
Rated 2 out of 5 stars.
