There is a brand new single out JUST today from Plumb featuring Dan Haseltine of Jars of Clay called “Drifting“. Wow, I love this song! It’s simply beautiful and I love hearing her do a duet with Dan Haseltine of Jars of Clay. Their voices blend so perfectly together in this new song.
I remember the very first and only time I got to hear Plumb live. It was back in the spring of 2010 during Tin Pan South in Nashville. That night I was at the Listening Room, a really great place in town to hear some live music, and I remember there was a line-up of 3 men and 1 petite woman (Plumb). I actually had not heard of Plumb before that night. The 3 guys each took their turn in the round before her. All were country artists and played acoustic guitar. They were each good, but then they got to Plumb. She was there with a keyboardist. I really had no idea what to expect. Well, the keyboardist starts playing, who had quite a keyboard set up and with just his accompaniment, she sounded almost like a full band. Next thing you know, Plumb starts singing. This strong, pure voice and it was mesmerizing!
Well, she is definitely not country, but Christian pop. It was an odd pairing that night to say the least! I still remember the look on one of the guy’s faces while she was performing her first song, just after she started. His mouth was hanging open a little bit. It was pretty funny. I mean no disrespect to the guys who were performing that night. I honestly can’t even remember who it was exactly because as good as these 3 guys were who preceded her in the round, she was great and a total standout. I couldn’t wait for them to get through playing just so I could hear her again. I remember the people around me turning around to each other and me with these looks of awe on their faces. I heard the word “wow” many times over that evening each time she performed and I remember repeatedly getting goosebumps as she sang. You just simply had to be there.
What was it exactly that made her stand out so dramatically from the rest in her round? It is hard to put your finger on just one thing. Simply put, she is this incredible vocalist who sings with her heart delivering songs that reach into and touch your soul.
