Tim McGraw Revs Up For The Release Of “Two Lanes Of Freedom”
Country music super star Tim McGraw is set to release his highly anticipated Big Machine Records debut, “Two Lanes of Freedom,” on Feb. 5 with performances kicking off on location at the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Good Morning America this Friday (Feb. 1).
From New Orleans, fans can catch McGraw over the weekend on Austin City Limits (Feb 2) and CBS Sunday Morning (Feb 3). He heads to the West Coast for The Ellen DeGeneres Show (Feb. 5) and a special live stream Ram Country on Yahoo! performance later that night aboard the USS Midway in San Diego at 7:30 p.m. ET. He will guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (Feb 6) and Jimmy Kimmel Live! (Feb.7), pay tribute to friend and MusiCares Person of the Year Bruce Springsteen (Feb. 8) and wrap up with a visit to Chelsea Lately (Feb. 11).
Billboard comments “…freedom—and acceleration—are prevailing themes on a set that finds McGraw and longtime producer Byron Gallimore delivering a sonically ambitious collection of songs that is equal parts fun, romance and big-picture vignettes.”
Pollstar Names Eric Church A Top Touring Act Of 2012
It’s only fitting in a year that landed GRAMMY nominee and CMA Award winner Eric Church at the top of the country singles chart with the two week No. 1 “Springsteen” that both Church and The Boss share something else in common – top placement on Pollstar’s Worldwide Ticket Sales Chart. Church joins the company of Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Coldplay, Roger Waters, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour, Cirque du Soleil, Kenny Chesney/Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Metallica, and Dave Matthews Band. With over 765,000 tickets sold, Church’s The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour ranks at No. 11 on the chart published today at Pollstar.com.
“To be listed beside these acts—based solely on the number of tickets sold throughout the year on our tour—is just incredible. I distinctively remember playing for eight people just over two years ago in a club in Texas, so to hear that that number has grown to what it was in 2012 is a true testament to the fans, their passion, and my band and crew’s dedication to making our show the best it can be night after night,” shares Church. The number of tickets sold on The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour in 2012, which covered 101 tour dates, matches what he sold in the prior six years of his touring career. Continue Reading →
Tim McGraw Announces More Album Details
Debut Big Machine Records Disc To Include Standard & An Accelerated Deluxe Version, in Stores Feb 5
Country music icon Tim McGraw is revealing more details about his highly anticipated release TWO LANES OF FREEDOM. His first album for Big Machine Records will be released on Feb. 5, 2013 and is set to prove once again that on stage and on record, he remains dedicated to delivering music that is innovative, heartfelt and authentic.
“I feel like I’ve progressed in my work, and I’ve always strived to get better,” says McGraw. “On my last album, I was discovering some new sounds and new things that I wanted to do, scratching the surface of the direction I wanted to head. This album was a way to reach a little further back, to all that I’d done throughout my career, and bring both sides together—it’s a combination of that discovery, along with some rediscovery.”
On TWO LANES OF FREEDOM, the sense of nostalgia comes through on the hard-driving current single “One of Those Nights.” The reverie of that song, though, is countered by the humor and joy of “Southern Girl” or the feel-good hangover of “Mexicoma.” McGraw maintains that it was the album’s title track that really established the tone for the entire project.
Tim McGraw & Faith Hill Debut “Soul2Soul” At The Venetian

Their smash filled set inside the intimate venue invites the audience to get up close and personal with McGraw and Hill as never seen before. In between solo hits like McGraw’s “Real Good Man” and Hill’s “Breathe” as well as their current singles “One Of Those Nights” and “American Heart” the powerhouse husband and wife duo deliver crowd favorites “It’s Your Love” and “Like We Never Loved At All” along with surprising covers and interactive moments with the audience. The 10 weekend limited engagement runs through April.
“…the show puts the focus squarely on its two superstars, and considering the rousing ovations McGraw and Hill received Saturday, that’s perfectly fine with their fans.” – PEOPLE Magazine
“All the power of an arena show had been squeezed into a concert theater and kept so private and personal, one actually feels cherished by both of them.” – Las Vegas Sun
“Hill and McGraw delivered a high-energy but often intimate show that prompted multiple standing ovations, overhead clapping and arms stretched to the theater’s domed ceiling.” – The Tennessean
CMA Winners In Two Categories Announced On Good Morning America
Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw Win CMA Musical Event of the Year for “Feel Like A Rock Star”; Toby Keith and Director Michael Salomon Win CMA Music Video of the Year for “Red Solo Cup”
Winners in two of the 12 categories were announced live on “Good Morning America” from New York’s Times Square this morning. The news was welcomed with cheers from the audience gathered on Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Plaza waiting to watch Reba perform.
“What a great way to lead up to ‘Country Music’s Biggest Night™’ by announcing our winners on ‘Good Morning America’ and sharing the news with the GMA viewers and the fans here in Nashville,” said Steve Moore, Chief Executive Officer of CMA.
Hosted for the fifth time by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, “The 46th Annual CMA Awards” airs tonight (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) from the Bridgestone Arena on the ABC Television Network.
Winning CMA Musical Event of the Year was Kenny Chesney’s duet with Tim McGraw, “Feel Like A Rock Star.”
Winning CMA Music Video of the Year was Toby Keith and director Michael Salomon for “Red Solo Cup.”
Chesney, who is performing on tonight’s gala, is the reigning CMA Award winner for Music Video of the Year for “You and Tequila” with Grace Potter. He was nominated for three CMA Awards in 2012 including Entertainer of the Year; Musical Event of the Year for “Feel Like A Rock Star” with McGraw; and Music Video of the Year for “Come Over,” directed by Shaun Silva. If Chesney wins Entertainer of the Year, he’ll take the record for the most wins in the category. Chesney is currently tied with Garth Brooks winning the trophy four times in 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
McGraw is performing with Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum, and Blake Shelton as part of the Willie Nelson tribute during tonight’s broadcast. He has now received 12 CMA Awards including the 2001 Entertainer of the Year. This marks the second time McGraw has won a CMA Award for a collaboration with Chesney. The two received CMA Vocal Event of the Year Awards for their work on Tracy Lawrence’s “Find Out Who Your Friends Are” (2007).
Keith has received 28 CMA Award nominations in his career, and this marks his third CMA Award win. He was named Male Vocalist of the Year in 2005 and also won Music Video of the Year with Salomon in 2005 for “As Good As I Once Was.” Salomon won Music Video of the Year in 1995 for “Baby Likes To Rock It” with The Tractors.
The winners were announced during the “Good Morning America” broadcast live from Nashville. The program featured musical performances by Reba and an appearance by Paisley announcing the donation of a Chevrolet Traverse to Metro Nashville Public Schools for the new instrument repair facility funded by CMA’s Keep the Music Playing music education campaign.
The two categories announced on “Good Morning America” are normally presented during pre-televised activities and acknowledged during the CMA Awards broadcast, which will happen again this year. Two-time CMA Awards nominee Love and Theft will host pre-tel ceremonies tonight and will present the trophies to the winners as well as Musician of the Year and the CMA Broadcast Awards winners for Radio Station and Personality of the Year. The recipients will be acknowledged during the broadcast and invited to participate in backstage media interviews.
The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the 11,000 industry professional members of CMA, which was formed in 1958 as the first trade organization to promote an individual genre of music. The first “CMA Awards Banquet and Show” was held in 1967. The following year, the CMA Awards was broadcast on NBC television for the first time – making it the longest-running annual music awards program on network television. The Awards aired on NBC through 1971 and on the CBS Television Network from 1972 through 2005 before moving to ABC in 2006. ABC will be the network home of the CMA Awards through 2021.
“The 46th Annual CMA Awards” is a production of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the Executive Producer, Paul Miller is the Director, and David Wild is the writer. The special will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound. This program carries a TV-PG,D,L parental guideline.
“Good Morning America” is a two-hour, live program anchored by Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos. Josh Elliott is the news anchor, Lara Spencer is lifestyle anchor, and Sam Champion is the weather anchor. The morning news program airs Monday-Friday (7:00-9:00 AM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.
