Wednesday evening, Sony Music Nashville’s Chairman & CEO Randy Goodman set the tone for a momentous Kane Brown rooftop revelry by remarking, “It is truly significant that only one debut album has achieved RIAA Platinum certification in the past 80 weeks, and that is Kane Brown’s self-titled debut.”

“We’re here tonight to celebrate this and other cumulative stats that are stunning, if not staggering,” Goodman continued. “Please indulge me by giving me your attention for a few minutes to take these stats in – no spin, no false news – all truth.”

At the celebration on top of the building in which Sony Music Nashville is headquartered, ACM, CMA, Billboard and CMT Music Award nominated Kane Brown was surprised with the news of recent RIAA certification upgrades for “What Ifs” to Triple Platinum and “Heaven” to Double Platinum, as well as Gold certifications for “Found You,” from his debut album and “There Goes My Everything” from his Chapter 1 EP.

The hundreds of guests in attendance included the 24-year-old entertainer and his family, friends, band and crew, as well as Brown’s team members Sony Music Nashville; EFG Management; Universal Music Publishing; Huskin-Harris; and WME; promotion, consumption, media and marketing partners; and event co-partners BMI, SESAC and APRA. Many who participated creatively to Brown’s debut album attended, such as producers Dann Huff and Matt McVaney and several songwriters, music publishers and PROs. Among the creative contributor guests were BMI songwriter Shy Carter, SESAC songwriter Matt McGinn and BMI/APRA songwriter Lindsay Rimes who were recognized for writing the #1 hit “Heaven,” and were joined by their respective music publishers BMG Platinum Songs/You Want How Much Of What Publishing, SMACK Works Music/SMACK Blue, LLC and EMI Blackwood Music/Koala-T Tunes.

The label group’s lead executive, with the help of Sony Music Nashville’s Paige Altone, Alaina Vehec, Jaime Marconette, Liz Sledge, Joe Freel and Madison Utley, revealed six plaques that depicted compelling certification, consumption and chart accomplishments (details follow).

KANE BROWN DEBUT ALBUM – PLATINUM
When the RIAA first certified it Platinum on April 4, Kane Brown’s self-titled debut was the only country album to release and achieve Platinum status since December of 2016. In 2018, Kane Brown is the most-streamed album and has dominated the Billboard Top Country Album chart with 10 weeks at #1, over 56% of the year-to- date chart. With 12 total weeks at #1, no other album has spent more weeks at the top of the Billboard Top Country Album Chart since its release in December 2016. Kane Brown is available HERE.

Kane Brown first topped the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with the release of his self-titled debut album in 2016 and again with the release of Kane Brown Deluxe Edition in 2017, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums and Top 5 on Billboard 200 Charts. That same week, the singer-songwriter became the first-ever artist to top all 5 Billboard Country Charts with his breakthrough #1 Top Country Album; #1 debuting Country Digital Song, “Heaven”; and #1 Country Airplay, Hot Country Song and Country Streaming Song, the Double-Platinum “What Ifs” featuring Lauren Alaina. In fact, Brown was awarded a Guinness World Record for becoming the first act to top five U.S. country charts simultaneously.

“HEAVEN” – DOUBLE-PLATINUM
Kane Brown’s newly Double-Platinum certified smash “Heaven,” was a two-week #1 on both country airplay and Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart. It was also a 10-week #1 on the Nielsen Country On-Demand Audio Streaming chart. Brown performed “Heaven” on “Good Morning American,” “The Voice” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“WHAT IFS” – TRIPLE PLATINUM
At over 240 million streams, “What Ifs” featuring Lauren Alaina is in the Top 5 of most-streamed songs of all time according to Nielsen Country On-Demand Audio Stream data. The newly Triple-Platinum certified hit spent 18 weeks at #1 on the Nielsen Country On-Demand Audio Streaming chart and 4 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. “2018 ACM Awards,” “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018” and “The Voice” finale episode were among Brown’s nationally televised performances of “What Ifs.”
“FOUND YOU” – GOLD
“Found You,” an Instant Grat release from the Deluxe Edition of Brown’s debut album, has just been certified Gold. The song debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Digital Song Sales.
“THERE GOES MY EVERYTHING” – GOLD
Newly certified Gold by the RIAA, “There Goes My Everything” is a track on Brown’s Chapter 1 EP. This song was Top 5 on the Billboard Country Digital Song Sales chart. (Brown’s Chapter 1 EP also yielded another RIAA certified track, “Used To Love You Sober,” which was awarded Platinum status in February.)

Last week, breakthrough entertainer Kane Brown released his new single, “Lose It,” which is available now to stream and download. Country radio’s official impact date for the song is June 25. Brown co-wrote “Lose It” with Chase McGill and Will Weatherly, and performed the song last week before thousands of country fans at the kick-off of the Nissan Stadium star-packed concert series at 2018 CMA Music Fest.

Brown just confirmed the November 9 street date for his sophomore album on RCA Nashville/Zone 4. The follow-up to his self-titled debut album will be produced by multiple-award-winner Dann Huff.
