Country Radio Seminar 2013: Celebrities, Surprises and Stars of Tomorrow
Country Radio Seminar wrapped up last week to record attendance, bright new stars, and performances by the biggest names in country music. The three-day event overtook the Nashville Convention Center as thousands poured in for the annual meeting.
As a media outlet, we have the opportunity to cover the event, and interview some of the brightest up-and-coming stars in the format. We’ll be posting those interviews in the upcoming days; and we’ve also got photo and video coverage of the events, so stay tuned!
So here’s a recap of what our week looked like:
Scotty McCreery To Host CMA’s “Keep The Music Playing” Nashville Concert
Scotty McCreery will host CMA’s fourth annual “Keep The Music Playing” All-Stars concert tonight (Feb. 19) at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The free concert begins at 6 p.m. No tickets are necessary and seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The fourth annual “Keep The Music Playing” event is presented by the Metro Nashville Public Schools and the CMA, and honors the best elementary, middle and high school music programs in Metro Nashville public schools.
To date the CMA has been able to donate over $6 million to purchase instruments for students in the Middle Tennessee area. Kix Brooks, Laura Bell Bundy, Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans, Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry and Kellie Pickler are a few of the artists who have been involved in the program.

Some of the most powerful and emotionally moving voices in music come together to celebrate the holidays on “CMA Country Christmas,” which airs Thursday, Dec. 20 (9:00-11:00 PM/ET) and repeats Saturday, Dec. 22 (9:00-11:00 PM/ET) and Sunday, Dec. 23 (4:00-6:00 PM/ET). The special, which features Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland as host for the third year, airs on the ABC Television Network.
Artists on the two-hour special celebrating the season with songs and stories include Dierks Bentley, Colbie Caillat, Katherine Jenkins, Lady Antebellum, John Legend, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Scotty McCreery, Nettles, The Band Perry, and Keith Urban.
In 2011, the premiere broadcast of “CMA Country Christmas” drew more than 9 million viewers, which was an increase of nearly 23 percent over the inaugural broadcast in 2010. Adults 18-49 increased year-to-year by nearly 50 percent. Not only were initial airings better than in the previous year, DVR playback increased, too. Total viewers who watched the show within a week of premiere increased 2 million viewers from 2010 to 2011 (7.663 vs. 9.624). The cumulative audience for all three airings reached 14 million viewers.

Scotty McCreery To Release Christmas Album On October 16th
Scotty McCreery will release a new album, Christmas with Scotty McCreery, on Oct. 16 that features many of the holiday songs that have played an important role in his life, as well as two exciting new originals that he hopes will have a place in many Christmases to come.
“Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year,” he says. “And what is Christmas without music? We start listening to Christmas songs early in the McCreery household, so it felt right. I’ve always wanted to record a Christmas album since I’ve had my music career. Continue Reading →
