The stormy forecast on August 20th didn’t stop BMI from throwing their lastRooftop On The Row” party of the summer.

The event, presented by George Dickel Tennessee Whisky, featured performances by Mitchell Tenpenny and Gone West. Attendees enjoyed BBQ from Texas Roadhouse and sipped on playfully named cocktails including Dickelade (Dickel and lemonade) and Redneck Pepper (Dickel Tabasco and Dr Pepper). Gone West took the stage first. The band, which consists of Grammy-winning artist Colbie Caillat, her fiancé Justin Young, Jason Reeves and his wife Nelly Joy, opened with the song “Gone West,” an homage to the reasons behind the band’s name. Caillat performed her hit song “Realize,” which she wrote with Reeves. They finished their set with a fun breakup song called “Confetti,” and their first single, ”What Could’ve Been.”

Between performances, one lucky concert-goer won a $250 voucher from Delta Airlines.

Mitchell Tenpenny opened with the song, “Truck I Drove in High School”. As the wind picked up, Tenpenny’s band kept a high energy vibe while they rocked out guitar solos under occasional lightning bolts. Tenpenny showed off his vocal abilities (and lung capacity) holding long notes with impressive intensity. The band slowed things down with a heartbreaker called “I Can’t Go To Church Anymore,” and picked the energy back up with the Platinum-certified No. 1 single, “Drunk Me.”

In the end, the storm held out long enough for both performances and BMI closed their summer rooftop concert series on a high note.

Filmore and Hardy Headline The 1st BMI Rooftop On The Row Of The Season

Hardy performs at BMI’s Rooftop on the Row.

Now in its 3rd season, BMI’s Rooftop On The Row kicked off its 1st show of the season with a fantastic night of music, food, and drinks.  It was the perfect spring night to enjoy the festivities from the rooftop of BMI on Music Row with incredible views of Nashville as the sun was beginning to set.

BMI artists Hardy and Filmore headlined the event on Tuesday, April 23rd performing to an attentive, invitation-only audience.

Hardy, who has written songs for Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, and Morgan Wallen, kicked off the night’s musical performances with a fun set and his brand of bro-country music.

His current single, “REDNECKER”, is at country radio now from his album released by Big Loud Records.

Filmore was next to take the stage and closed out the evening.  This was my first time getting to see and hear Filmore.  I was not sure what to expect, but I have to admit that he made a big fan of me! I loved his energy, his strong voice, great stage presence, and his songs stuck with me hours later.

He already has more than 100 million career streams and he just made his country radio debut on April 22nd with his single, “Slower”.

While taking in the great night of music, attendees were treated to food & drinks from the various sponsors.  I thoroughly enjoyed the Dickelade in my new Yeti rambler offered by George Dickel Whisky and the tasty barbecue with salad & chips from Texas Roadhouse sitting on the comfortable couches that adorned the spacious rooftop.

Country up and comers Jon Langston and Walker McGuire entertained guests of BMI at their 4th Annual ‘Rooftop on the Row’ concert series on Tuesday night (August 15). The country duo of Walker McGuire, composed of Jordan Walker and Johnny McGuire, kicked off the night with songs such as their Top 40 single, “‘Til Tomorrow”, and “What’s Her Name” – a self proclaimed true story about their time in Mexico.

Jon Langston followed the up and coming duo to close out the show and entertain guests during the sunset. Langston performed his hit “Forever Girl” as well as a medley of hits from artists such as Jon Pardi (“Dirt on My Boots”) and Tim McGraw (“Real Good Man”) before closing out the night with his current single, “Wrong Girl Right Time”.

Both performers are artists to watch out for in 2018.
