Rachel Wammack, a 24-year old native from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, describes her sound as the trifecta of Country, Soul and Adult Pop. Being influenced heavily from the rich music history of her hometown, Rachel had no choice but to be shaped and sharpened by the artistic gusto that comes when those sounds merge. Rachel honed her craft not only as vocalist, but as a songwriter. At the age of 12, Rachel wrote her first song. Throughout the following adolescent years, Rachel expressed her art in her songwriting, storytelling, playing in the High school band, and pursuing a degree in professional writing. At the age of 17 she was discovered by a Sony Music Nashville executive while Rachel was performing at a fine cuisine, piano restaurant in Muscle Shoals. Five years and many written songs later, Rachel would receive a record deal from Sony Music Nashville. In April 2018 Rachel released her self-titled, four song EP via the RCA Records Nashville imprint, giving her ever growing fan base a taste of the music that’s still to come. Wammack’s EP, which includes her newly-released debut single “Damage,” proves that the young singer/songwriter is standing at the starting line of what promises to be an exciting, self-fulfilling and stunning career. Newly-Signed Rachel Wammack Stuns Crowd At First Showcase

On Thursday, July 12th, I had the pleasure of attending the first showcase of one of Sony Nashville/RCA Records’ newest artists, Rachel Wammack.

Held at the beautiful, vibey Analog at Hutton Hotel near downtown Nashville with a standing room only crowd, Wammack along with her newly-formed band, played a 30 minute set to a enthusiastic, appreciative crowd.  The young singer/songwriter hails from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, a town known for and deeply-rooted in a rich musical history with what has come to be known as the “Muscle Shoals Sound”.

Rachel Wammack is a beautiful blonde who puts me in mind of Carrie Underwood when just starting out, filling that void for Sony left by Underwood when she signed with with UMG Nashville last year after being with them since the start of her career.

Those are not easy shoes to fill and to be fair, she was discovered by Sony several years ago at the age of 17 in her hometown, long before Carrie Underwood departed her longtime label.  The now 23-year old Rachel Wammack, who is one of the newest additions to the label, seems poised and ready to lend her powerful voice to country music as she etches out her own nitche within the industry.  She brings with her a youthful exuberance, a sweet, southern disposition, and a subtle soulful sound behind her powerful vocals as she emotes from the stage seemingly feeling every lyric along with being a highly-skilled keyboardist/pianist.

The most poignant moment during the showcase that stuck out for me was when she talked about her song, “My Boyfriend Doesn’t Speak For Me Anymore”, as she asked the women in the audience how many of them had experienced a “suffocating relationship” and consequently gotten out of it finding their own voice again.  It is an emotional, empowering song that will resonate with many women who have dealt with the same scenario that is far too commonplace in our society.

I look forward to hearing more from Wammack as she just released her first single, “Damage”, off her debut self-titled EP available here to country radio.  I know there is much in-store for this talented singer/songwriter, and I can’t wait to see where it all takes her.

Singer-songwriter Rachel Wammack (pronounced wa-mack) releases her debut self-titled EP, Rachel Wammack, today via RCA Records Nashville.

Listen to it HERE.

The new Rachel Wammack EP was produced by Dann Huff and marks the first commercial release to come from the 23-year old native of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, who was influenced heavily from the rich music history of her hometown, being shaped and sharpened by her upbringing there.

Wammack, who was eager to give her ever-growing fan base a glimpse of the environment that molded her into writing her first song at age 12, took a camera crew this past winter around her hometown, showcasing the people and places that have played a small part in the artist, Rachel Wammack.

Watch the short clip HERE.

Like her key influences before her, Adele, Otis Redding, Carrie Underwood and Sam Smith; Wammack honed her craft not only as vocalist, but as a songwriter. Throughout her adolescent years Rachel expressed her art in her songwriting, storytelling, playing in the High School band, and eventually pursuing a degree in professional writing.

All artists take different paths, but with Rachel, her path chose her. At the age of 17 she was discovered by Sony Music Nashville while performing in Muscle Shoals. Five years and many written songs later, Rachel received a record deal from Sony Music Nashville.

Today Rachel begins her next chapter as both a songwriter and recording artist with the release of Rachel Wammack.
