Angaleena Presley will take her new music on the road when she joins friends The Indigo Girls on tour in August.

If there’s a pedigree for a modern country music star, then Angaleena Presley fits all of the criteria: a coal miner’s daughter; native of Beauty, Kentucky; a direct descendent of the original feuding McCoys; a one-time single mother; a graduate of both the school of hard knocks and college; a former cashier at both Wal-Mart and Winn-Dixie. Perhaps best of all the member of Platinum-selling Pistol Annies (with Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe) says she “doesn’t know how to not tell the truth.” Continue Reading →

Annie Up features 12 songs written by the Pistol Annies that deal with the unwashed experiences of real life. Pistol Annies Set To “Annie Up” On May 7

Pistol Annies, Annie Up

What started as a late night phone call between Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, materialized into the Pistol Annies. The unorthodox, sassy trio, released their debut album in August of 2011, return with their up album, Annie Up, set to release May 7.

“We laid it on the line with “Hell On Heels” and we wanted to bring it again on this album,” said Miranda. “We put all our musical chips on the table, so we thought ‘Annie Up’ was a good title,” added Ashley.” “The goal of our music is to have people feel like they’re having a conversation with us,” said Miranda. “We never tried to sit down and write a song. When we’re together, we’re always just writing,” said Angaleena. In fact, the trio wrote “Unhappily Married” last June at the CMA Music Fest while in hair and makeup. “We can’t, not write,” added Ashley.

Pistol Annies’ Ashley Monroe releases solo CD “Like A Rose” March 5th

Produced by Vince Gill and Justin Niebank, All Songs On The Album Were Co-Written by Monroe

Ashley Monroe, Like A Rose

Ashley Monroe, a member of the critically acclaimed trio Pistol Annies, will release her first Warner Nashville solo album, Like A Rose, on March 5, 2013.

Most folks, as soon as they hear Ashley Monroe, instantly recognize one thing: she’s the real deal. Her songs resonate so profoundly because they reflect the experiences of an artist who, although she is just 26, has already seen both the best and worst that life has to offer.

Like A Rose has been a long time coming. Monroe has been creating music for more than half of her life—attracting along the way kudos from such music world giants as Dolly Parton, Guy Clark, Vince Gill and Jack White. Her new, full-length album release serves both to fill in the back-story and impart to us who she is today. At times her songs are dead serious, at others utterly hilarious, but always Monroe is an original with a compelling story to share.

We named her one of 2013’s artists to watch! Read that article here!

Legends Honored, Superstars Perform at 6th Annual ACM Honors

ACM Honors

Country music fans are aware that the genre has no shortage of awards shows (at least four and counting). Arguably the most prestigious of these, however, is the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs) held in Las Vegas in April. What fewer country fans may know is the Academy holds an annual awards show for non-televised industry and specialty awards called the ACM Honors, which took place Monday at The Ryman Auditorium.
