Music City Food + Wine Festival: Oh, What A Weekend!
The 3rd annual Music City Food + Wine Festival took place this past weekend on September 19th and 20th with the festival held at the beautiful Bicentennial Park. Included with the festival was Harvest Night held at Hall of Fame Park in downtown Nashville on Saturday night featuring incredible live performances from Kings of Leon, Jewel, Michael MacDonald and Michelle Branch…just to name a few notables. Sunday featured a special gospel brunch to start the day with live music from the incredible performer Robert Randolph, known as an amazing pedal steel player and singer, accompanied by a gospel choir. Mac Davis to be Honored as BMI Icon at the 2015 BMI Country Awards
Broadcast Music, Inc.®, (BMI®), a global leader in music rights management, will celebrate the extraordinary songwriting career of Mac Davis by naming him a BMI Icon at the company’s 63rd annual BMI Country Awards. The invitation-only event, which will be held on Tuesday, November 3 at BMI’s Music Row offices in Nashville, will honor Davis and the songwriters and publishers of the most-performed country songs of the previous year.

THE MAVERICKS NAMED GROUP OF THE YEAR AT AMERICANA MUSIC AWARDS
THE MAVERICKS continue to deliver with a one-of-a-kind musical fusion – Bold. Sheer. Eclectic. Last night (9/16), the dynamic entertainers took home the Americana Music Awards Duo/Group of the Year, presented to them by The Milk Carton Kids. RAUL MALO, whose signature tenor fronts The Mavericks, and his musical comrades – PAUL DEAKIN (Drums, Percussion and Marimba), EDDIE PEREZ (Electric and Acoustic Guitars) and JERRY DALE MCFADDEN (Piano, Organ, Celeste) – serenaded the audience with the gut-wrenching honesty of “Pardon Me.” The sobering track is featured on the critically-acclaimed MONO (The Valory Music Co.), which sat atop the Americana Airplay Charts for two weeks earlier this year. Gabriel Communications, television personality Larry Black and his fellow cast members on the nationally-popular comedy and music variety show, Larry’s Country Diner, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony this morning on a new 6,700 square foot venue that will host their popular TV tapings, a full-service diner restaurant, gift shop and concert venue for performances from some of country, bluegrass and gospel music’s biggest stars.

Americana — “A lively genre embodies both the continuity and evolution of roots music,” (Wall Street Journal) — celebrated its 14th Annual Americana Honors & Awards tonight at the historic Ryman Auditorium. This year’s winners reflected the community’s “spirit of eclecticism” (New York Times), with Shakey Graves as Emerging Artist of the Year; John Leventhal, Instrumentalist of the Year; The Mavericks, Group/Duo of the Year; Lucinda Williams, Album of the Year (‘Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone’); and Sturgill Simpson claiming both Song of the Year (for “Turtles All The Way Down”) and Artist of the Year trophies.
