“Loretta Lynn: An All-Star Birthday Celebration Concert” Announced At Bridgestone Arena On April 1, 2019

Music icon Loretta Lynn will celebrate her birthday this April with a once-in-a-lifetime music event. On the heels of one of the most deeply personal albums of her career, Wouldn’t It Be Great (Legacy Recordings/Sony Music Entertainment), the 2019 GRAMMY nominee celebrates this year’s birthday being honored by her friends. Alan Jackson, Brandy Clark, Darius Rucker, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Jack White, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Margo Price, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, Pistol Annies and Trisha Yearwood are among the first guests announced for “Loretta Lynn: An All-Star Birthday Celebration Concert” on Monday, April 1 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, produced by AEG Presents. Acclaimed music producer Dave Cobb will serve as musical director for the evening of celebration and song. Net proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Opry Trust Fund and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum®.

“I am so excited to celebrate my 87th birthday with all my friends,” shares Lynn. “This is the first time I’ve ever had a birthday party! My birthday wish has come true. The only other wish I have is that Keith Urban jumps out of my birthday cake!”

Garth Brooks was on hand at the press conference to surprise Lynn with a birthday cake to kick-off the celebration. In describing Lynn’s immense contribution to American music, Brooks said, “She’s the queen of Country music, there’s not a level she hasn’t crushed, no matter how big this party is, it ain’t gonna be big enough! This is going to be an honor and a blast!”

Sally Williams, SVP Programming & Artist Relations Opry Entertainment and GM, Grand Ole Opry added, “Loretta’s been warming hearts and putting smiles on faces since she joined the Opry in 1962. There’s no one who deserves a big birthday throwdown more than her. And by generously including the Opry Trust Fund in the festivities, it will be the country music community that will receive the gifts this year as she helps us fulfill the mission of helping those in our community who are in need.”

“Country Music Hall of Fame member Loretta Lynn is a beloved and important figure in American music,” said Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. “Loretta’s gift helps assure the success of our ongoing education mission, as we relate her story and the stories of other vital music-makers to generations of listeners and learners. In our museum, Loretta will always be a precious presence, as the memories and artistry of a coal miner’s daughter continue to inspire.”

AEG Presents’ Ali Harnell serves as executive producer of the event noted the significance of the timing, “Producing this event is an absolute pride-filled highlight of my career. I have always looked to Loretta as an inspiration on so many fronts. She is a boundary-pushing, trailblazing, surviving, undeniable superstar and I can’t wait to celebrate her and all her many achievements on April 1 at Bridgestone Arena.”

Loretta Lynn has long been established as the undisputed Queen of Country Music, with more than 50 years of recording and touring to her name. A self-taught guitarist and songwriter, Lynn was one of the most distinctive performers in Nashville in the 1960s and 1970s. She shook up Nashville by writing her own songs, many of which tackled boundary-pushing topics drawn from her own life experiences as a wife and mother. “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “Fist City” and “Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)” are just three of her 16 country No. 1 singles.

Lynn is also one of the most awarded musicians of all time. She has been inducted into more music Halls of Fame than any female recording artist, including The Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and was the first woman to be named the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year in 1972. Lynn received Kennedy Center Honors in 2003 and a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. In 2015, she was named recipient of Billboard’s inaugural Women in Music “Legend” Award. CMT Honors Country Music Icon Loretta Lynn With “Artist Of A Lifetime” Award Presented By Ram Trucks At This Year’s All-Female “Artists Of The Year” Celebration

Loretta Lynn

In a year of celebrating the achievements of women in country music, CMT today announced that Loretta Lynn will be honored with the “Artist of a Lifetime” award presented by Ram Trucks at this year’s all-female “CMT Artists of the Year” event premiering live Wednesday, October 17 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Academy Award winner and “Coal Miner’s Daughter” actress Sissy Spacek will bestow the award to Lynn, who joins previous recipients of the honor including Shania Twain (2016), Kenny Rogers (2015), and Merle Haggard (2014).

“I’m always so proud when I receive any awards for my music, but when I heard it was this year’s “Artist of a Lifetime” award it made me really happy,” says Loretta Lynn. “It’s an honor to be able to make music that people enjoy and I’m really excited to have a new album coming out. Thank you CMT for acknowledging me with this award and for honoring the women in country music at Artists of the Year.”

“Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “Fist City” and “Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)” are just three of 16 country No. 1 singles. She has sold over 45 million records worldwide. Lynn’s latest studio album, Wouldn’t It Be Great, (Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment) will be released Friday, September 28.

Sissy Spacek has been one of the industry’s most respected actresses in a career spanning four decades. Her many honors include an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, five additional Oscar nominations, a Grammy nomination, three Golden Globe Awards and numerous critics awards. In 1980, Spacek starred as Loretta Lynn in the acclaimed biopic “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” winning the Oscar and Golden Globe Award for her performance. Spacek also swept the New York Film Critics Circle, Los Angeles Film Critics, National Board of Review, and National Society of Film Critics Awards for her portrayal of the country music legend. Some of Spacek’s other film credits include “A Home at the End of the World,” “The Straight Story,” “Affliction,” “JFK,” “The Long Walk Home,” “Hot Rod,” “Night, Mother,” “Four Christmases,” “Get Low”, “The Help” and “The Old Man and The Gun”.

For the first-time ever the annual “CMT Artists of the Year” special is dedicated to the women of country music—past, present and future. This year’s all-female “Artists of the Year” celebration will honor Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini,

Maren Morris, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott.

As in past years, the event will feature surprise musical pairings and guests that will be announced at a later date. In addition, CMT will further its commitment to female artists through a day-long “Women of Country Music” takeover across all CMT platforms where music lives including music hours on CMT, the 24/7 digital channel CMT Music and CMT Radio’s widely-syndicated shows “CMT Radio LIVE” and “CMT After Midnite” to encourage and inspire increased female airplay on October 17.

A staunch advocate for country music’s female artists, CMT launched its dedicated “Next Women of Country” campaign in 2013 as a way to give female artists voice and airplay across all CMT platforms. The franchise has received critical acclaim, and in five years since launch CMT has expanded to include tours, digital programming and more. Ballerini and Morris are both alumnae of the “Next Women” franchise.

Last year’s special notched its highest ratings to date and ranked as the most watched in the event’s eight-year history. More than 1.1 million fans tuned in to the premiere telecast and the encore. Socially, #CMTAOTY trended nationally on Twitter during the show and the special ranked as the #1 Most Social Entertainment Program in Primetime on Cable.

Previous “CMT Artists of the Year” performances have included Adele and Darius Rucker performing Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now;” Meghan Trainor, Jill Scott and Kelsea Ballerini honoring Shania Twain with a medley of her biggest hits; Jason Aldean, Keith Urban and Chris Stapleton in a moving Tom Petty tribute with “I Won’t Back Down;” Adam Lambert and Leona Lewis paying tribute to Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush;” and Maroon 5 covering Taylor Swift’s “Mine.” The show has featured appearances by Ellen DeGeneres, Matthew McConaughey, Selena Gomez, Billy Bob Thornton, Roger Clemens, Morgan Freeman, the cast of Nashville and more.

COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME® AND MUSEUM ANNOUNCES 2017 EXHIBITIONS

For the first time in its 50-year history, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum has announced its complete slate of exhibitions for the upcoming year. Revealed this week via the museum’s social media channels, the 2017 schedule includes exhibits on Jason Aldean, Loretta Lynn, Shania Twain, and country music couple Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.

“This year the museum celebrates half a century of collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of country music,” said museum CEO Kyle Young. “With a great mix of exhibition subjects that range from a legendary Country Music Hall of Fame member to the best of today, our golden anniversary schedule reflects one of the true hallmarks of country music—its constant evolution. As we explore the journeys of these country music greats, whose combined careers span almost 150 years, we also reflect on the museum’s 50-year evolution and celebrate what is ahead.”

In addition to examining the legacies of individual artists, the museum will unveil a new exhibition, American Currents (The Music of 2016), in March 2017. The exhibit will chronicle the latest chapter in country music’s ever-evolving story through a behind-the-scenes look at all things new and noteworthy from the prior year. Highlights from 2016 will be represented by artifacts from Kelsea Ballerini, Brett Eldredge, Mickey Guyton, Miranda Lambert, William Michael Morgan, Maren Morris, Jon Pardi, Margo Price, Chris and Morgane Stapleton with more to be announced.

On May 26, the museum will open a special exhibit examining the life and career of ACM Entertainer of the Year Jason Aldean. With hard-rock swagger and hip-hop rhythms Aldean’s music celebrates life in the South and has had significant impact on country music. The exhibit will describe the early encouragement he received from both parents, his move to Nashville, his struggle to get his music heard and his groundbreaking success with an independent record company. The emergence of RIAA’s top digital country male artist of all time’s wide-open sound is one of the defining elements in today’s country music. The Aldean exhibit will close in November 2017.

“I am extremely honored to be invited to have an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum,” said Aldean. “That building is filled with the artists who helped create and shape country music, so to be a part of that legacy is something I am very proud of.”

June 26 brings an exhibit devoted to International superstar Shania Twain. With more than 90 million albums sold worldwide and U.S. sales topping 35 million, Shania remains the top-selling female country artist of all time.  She ushered in a new era of empowerment for women in country music, with hits such as “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” ‘You’re Still the One” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” to name a few.

“It’s an honor to be a part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibitions for 2017,” said Twain. “Being able to re-visit favorite costumes, photographs and memories from my career has been a special feeling, especially as this year will see a new stage for me with a brand new album! I’m very excited to have these important creative moments on display.”

Known for her groundbreaking, stylishly bold yet elegant videos, the Twain exhibit will include outfits she wore in those clips and in concert. Personal memorabilia, photos, awards and stage props will help tell the story of Twain’s remarkable life in music. The exhibit will run until June 2018.

Country Music Hall of Fame member and 2017 Grammy nominee for Best Country Album (Full Circle), Loretta Lynn will be the subject of a major exhibition opening August 25, 2017, and running through June 2018. By telling her own truths, and by writing about her experiences with a perspective and voice unlike any other Southern storyteller, Lynn has become an American hero and a country music standard-bearer.

“I am so happy the Country Music Hall of Fame has asked me to be one of their main exhibits in 2017…gonna show off my 50 some odd years in country music,” exclaimed Lynn on hearing news of the exhibition. “They best have a big space…I have a lot of stuff! I’m so proud to share my life, and music with the Hall of Fame. Y’all come see us!”

Her one-of-a-kind tale has been told in a feature film (with an Oscar-winning portrayal of Lynn by Sissy Spacek), two autobiographies, and a public television American Masters documentary. But her fascinating journey is worthy of further exploration. Examining the Coal Miner’s Daughter through her music and her rich collection of personal artifacts will provide fresh insights into one of country music’s most important artists.

Finally, on Nov. 17, a new exhibit will explore the intertwined careers of Grammy-winning superstars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Incorporating a wide array of personal and professional memorabilia representing milestones and significant moments, the exhibit will explore elements of their separate paths to success as solo artists and their dynamic combination as a couple with their record-breaking Soul2Soul Tours and duet performances. The exhibit will run until May 2018.

One of the most visited museums in the United States, with an unduplicated collection of more than 2.5 million artifacts, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in 2017. This first-ever announcement of the full year’s exhibition schedule will be followed by many unique activities celebrating the museum’s golden anniversary milestone. Special programs and concerts will be announced in the coming months.
