Country Radio Seminar wrapped up last week to record attendance, bright new stars, and performances by the biggest names in country music. The three-day event overtook the Nashville Convention Center as thousands poured in for the annual meeting.
As a media outlet, we have the opportunity to cover the event, and interview some of the brightest up-and-coming stars in the format. We’ll be posting those interviews in the upcoming days; and we’ve also got photo and video coverage of the events, so stay tuned!
So here’s a recap of what our week looked like:
Kip Moore was honored with a party at BMI in Nashville on Thursday to celebrate the number-one success of his hit, “Beer Money.” Folks munched on tiny sandwiches, shrimp, Valentine’s Day candy and red velvet milkshakes, along with a beer or two, at the celebration, which also feted Kip’s co-writers Troy Verges and Blair Daly.
Kip said they had actually started in one direction with the song, but it ended up quite differently. “We were talking about college and not having enough money for beer that weekend, and I kinda responded. I was like, ‘I know we were always trying to save our beer money,” says Kip. “But then it kinda morphed into another thing where it was more about the economic times…I had a buddy whose dad had lost his job and the family was pretty down and out, and he couldn’t find another job, but the buddy was telling me that he was still at the bar that weekend. People are always going to always have an outlet; they’re always going to need that outlet no matter how bad times get, so that’s kinda how the whole thing started.”
Kip Moore has been announced as the special guest on Toby Keith’s upcoming Hammer Down Tour, which is set to kick off June 8th in Ozark, Arkansas. “I am excited to go out with Toby, because I have heard so many stories about what the tours are like. I know that he has a big, big rowdy crowd, and I know he has a different kind of fan base than I probably do, which is why it’s going to be so fun to get in front of that fan base,” says Kip. “The guy has been at the top of his game for no telling how many years. I mean 10-15-20 years, so I know it’s definitely something I can learn a lot from, and I think it will better my career going out with him.”
Kip, who is currently on the road with Brantley Gilbert on the Hell on Wheels Tour, is scaling the country charts with his latest single, “Hey Pretty Girl,” the follow-up to back-to-back number-one singles – “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” and “Beer Money.”
New Single “Hey Pretty Girl” At Radio Now
MCA recording artist Kip Moore is continuing his streak of sold-out shows selling almost 2,500 tickets for his March 23rd stop in Boston, MA at House of Blues in just 20 minutes this morning. The show follows previous sold-out dates already this year in Norfolk, VA, Raleigh, NC, Athens, GA, Nashville, TN, Starkville, MS and upcoming Grand Rapids, MI.
“This year is off to a crazy start and it’s only February,” said Kip. “We have been at this awhile, just going out on the road and playing to as many people who would listen. It wasn’t much at first, but thankfully, the number of people listening seems to be getting bigger and bigger. And if you missed out on any tickets, I’m sorry…but I guarantee we’ll be back soon!”
Officials at the Country Radio Seminar have announced the addition of a closed circuit viewing site within the Nashville Convention Center to accommodate the overflow crowd resulting from the previously announced sold out New Faces of Country Music® Show.
All registrants who do not receive an assigned seat to the New Faces of Country Music® Show will receive a ticket to the viewing event, which will be held in room 204 and 205 of the Convention Center on Friday, March 1st, at 6:30 p.m.
As previously announced, the CRS 2013 New Faces performers are Easton Corbin, Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Jana Kramer and Kip Moore.
Kip Moore is getting ready to hit the road with Brantley Gilbert on his Hell on Wheels Tour, which kicks off Thursday (January 31st) in Kansas City, Missouri. The Georgia native doesn’t exactly know how to describe his show to folks, except to say, “I feel like you’re definitely gonna sense the fact that all my heart and soul is in my performance, and beyond that I don’t really know what to tell you [what] to expect, but I’m gonna give everything I’ve got every single time.
” We definitely know at Kip’s show you will hear a couple of number-one songs (“Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck,” “Beer Money”) and his latest single hitting the charts, “Hey Pretty Girl.”
Kip will also be making an appearance with his tourmate (Brantley Gilbert) during the annual Country Radio Seminar’s New Faces Show next month.
MCA recording artist Kip Moore released his new single, “Hey Pretty Girl” to country radio today. The third single from his debut album Up All Night follows his two consecutive No. 1 singles “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” and “Beer Money.”
“Hey Pretty Girl,” a song about finding your soul mate, shows a softer side to Kip than his previous singles have explored. “‘Hey Pretty Girl’ for me is where I think every man and woman desires to be at some point in their life,” explains Kip. “I am not at that place in my life right now, but I’m not going to fool myself. At some point we all desire to have that person that knows you inside out and cares about you. ”
Kip kicked off the New Year with sold out shows in Norfolk, VA, Raleigh, NC, Athens, GA, Nashville, TN and upcoming Grand Rapids, MI. Previously on tour with Eric Church last fall on The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour, Kip is headlining his own dates as well as hitting the road with Brantley Gilbert on the Hell On Wheels Tour in February and April.
Last night was the third annual American Country Awards (ACAs), broadcast live on FOX from the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
