George Strait’s “Give It All We Got Tonight” #1 Party Celebration
ASCAP, BMI and the CMA hosted a #1 Party on Monday, June 24th to celebrate the team behind George Strait‘s 60th #1 single, “Give It All We Got Tonight.” The ballad became Strait’s 115th career single and was the first release from his 40th studio album, Love Is Everything, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. Label MCA Nashville’s “60for60” promotional campaign, designed to give Strait 60 #1 songs while he was still 60 years old, pushed “Give It All We Got Tonight” to #1 on the Mediabase charts for the week of May 12th – 18th, 2013 — just days before Strait’s 61st birthday.
Written by ASCAP member Mark Bright and BMI’s Tim James and Phil O’Donnell, and produced by Tony Brown, the song marked the first #1 as a songwriter for Bright, who is perhaps best known for his success as Carrie Underwood’s longtime producer. Publishers Delbert’s Boy Music, HoriPro Entertainment and Warner/Chappell, as well as label MCA Nashville, were also on hand to congratulate the group.
George Strait’s “Love Is Everything” Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard Country Albums Chart
Love Is Everything, the new album from MCA Nashville recording artist George Strait, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart this week, selling 119,843 units in its first week. That also earned Strait the No. 2 position on the Billboard Top 200. The album contains the hit single “Give It All We Got Tonight,” which Mediabase named as the most played song on country radio this week, earning Strait an unprecedented 60th No. 1 song. Love Is Everything is Strait’s 40th studio album.
“This has been a fantastic birthday week,” said Strait, who turned 61 last Saturday (May 18). “I’m thankful that my fans are excited about the new album and enjoying the music.”
George Strait Set To Release ‘Love Is Everything’ May 14th
George Strait is set to release his highly anticipated 40th studio album, Love Is Everything, on May 14th on longtime label home MCA Nashville. The King of Country music rejoined veteran producer Tony Brown to co-produce the album, which features 13 new tracks, including the Top 15 and climbing current single “Give It All We Got Tonight.” Love Is Everything includes four songs written or co-written by Strait, who penned many alongside his son Bubba Strait and legendary songwriter Dean Dillon. Love Is Everything will be available in stores and at all digital retailers.
With the new album’s first single “Give It All We Got Tonight” quickly approaching Top 10 on the Country radio charts, the song is poised to become Strait’s 60th #1 single. Fans and fellow Country artists recently started campaigning for the “Sixty For Sixty” movement, which encourages local radio stations to make the song his 60th #1 single before his 61st birthday on May 18th. Their efforts are certainly paying off as “Give It All We Got Tonight” is the fastest certified Gold single of Strait’s incredible 32-year career. Fans can tweet and Instagram their support with hashtag #60for60, as well as share posts on Facebook.
George Strait, Garth Brooks To Honor Dick Clark at ACM Awards
George Strait and Garth Brooks, the two most recent ACM Artist of the Decade Award recipients, will perform together for the first time in history to pay tribute to Dick Clark at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The performance will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 7 (8 p.m.-11:00 p.m., live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. The ACM Artist of the Decade Award will be renamed the ACM Dick Clark Artist of the Decade Award, in honor of the iconic figure and longtime producer of the Academy of Country Music Awards.
“Dick helped make country music accessible to a larger fan base and his efforts will not be forgotten,” said Strait. “Garth and I were so grateful when we each received the ACM Artist of the Decade Award, so it’s only fitting that we’ll be honoring him with this tribute performance at the ACMs.”
