DRAKE WHITE’S “LIVIN’ THE DREAM” AIMS TO UPLIFT

Born and raised at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Hokes Bluff, Alabama, Drake White grew up scanning his radio dial for anything he could relate to from country to blues to rock ‘n roll. In the rural south, White’s musical tastes knew no boundaries, labels or discriminations, a trait that has taken root in his performance style with Rolling Stone Country observing, “He doesn’t play music so much as become possessed by it, shaking, clomping and hopping up on his toes like a cowboy Michael Jackson. It’s a celebration of his country roots and, really, of being back in control.” That verve is encapsulated in White’s new single “Livin’ The Dream,” and it’s a message he knows audiences worldwide need to hear.

“Freestyle Fridays” featuring Drake White and The Big Fire have shown a different side of the Dot Records recording artist with stripped versions of often never-before-heard cuts from the artist Rolling Stone called “Bonnie Raitt’s secret twin brother.” The weekly performances have debuted directly to the fans on his Facebook page, @DrakeWhite. But on Friday, October 30, he took “stripping it down” to a new level after performing at Us Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Illinois on his last stop of an 11-show run with Little Big Town on the Painkiller Tour. During the group’s hit, “Pontoon,” White and band literally stripped down into swimming trunks despite the thermometer reading in the 40s outside and danced along the back of the stage much to Little Big Town’s surprise.

Drake White and The Big Fire’s “Muddy Water-inspired soul-country” (Taste of Country) is resonating with artists and fans alike.  White’s music, including his Top-40 single “It Feels Good,” has attracted some major fans in both Little Big Town and now Zac Brown Band. Enough so that both groups tapped the DOT/BMLG recording artist for their respective tours this fall with dates starting this Friday at New York City’s Citi Field with ZBB.

Country Radio Seminar 2013: Celebrities, Surprises and Stars of Tomorrow

Country Radio Seminar wrapped up last week to record attendance, bright new stars, and performances by the biggest names in country music. The three-day event overtook the Nashville Convention Center as thousands poured in for the annual meeting.

As a media outlet, we have the opportunity to cover the event, and interview some of the brightest up-and-coming stars in the format. We’ll be posting those interviews in the upcoming days; and we’ve also got photo and video coverage of the events, so stay tuned!
