Tegan Marie Gets The Star Treatment In Brand-New Opry NextStage Docu-Series

NASHVILLE, TENN. (March 1, 2019) – Warner Music Nashville and Sweety High Country sensation TEGAN MARIE is profiled in a brand-new docu-series tracing the path of her launch to stardom — OPRY NEXTSTAGE PRESENTS TEGAN MARIE: IN THE MAKING.

Created as part of the Grand Ole Opry’s latest year-long collaboration with four hand-picked rising Country artists (Riley Green, Tegan Marie, Tenille Townes, Travis Denning) the in-depth series was filmed over the course of Tegan Marie’s initial Nashville journey, capturing many of her milestone moments to date. The 4-part series is set to roll out over the next month with a new installment debuting each week with the first one live now on The Tennessean. Giving fans an early first look, a sizzle of the project premiered in January in front of a packed house at the Opry Nextstage kick-off concert at Nashville’s Ole Red with Sally Williams, General Manager, Grand Ole Opry / SVP, Programming & Artist Relations, Opry Entertainment, telling the crowd “The Opry is 93 years old and it is all of our responsibility to make sure it is still amazing for the next 93 years. You all are going to be part of that at we usher in the next generation to Country music!”

Featured in the video series are behind-the-scenes highlights of this 15-year-old phenom on the rise, including the moment she signed her record deal with Warner Music Nashville (making her the youngest major label artist in over 45 years); her Grand Ole Opry and NBC’s TODAY debuts; first concert at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium; high-flying performance from the top of the world-famous Empire State Building, and her Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance on the Girls Scouts of America float.

TEGAN MARIE: IN THE MAKING also includes candid home videos dating all the way back to before the young star was discovered; in-depth interviews with Scott Hendricks (producer and EVP A&R, Warner Music Nashville) and her managers (co-founder and CCO of Sweety High, Veronica Zelle, and co-founder and CEO of Sweety High, Frank Simonetti); clips of Tegan Marie and her team celebrating her first track release, “Keep It Lit,” and much more. The series depicts Tegan Marie as both a regular teenage girl and an emerging Country talent, while giving fans just a taste of what’s to come.

Following the success of her two effervescent tracks – “Keep It Lit” and “I Know How To Make a Boy Cry,” Tegan Marie will continue making headlines this spring with tour dates across the country, including a string of shows at the Grand Ole Opry as part of the Opry Nextstage program. Currently working on new music in Nashville, she’s gearing up to release a new song (produced by Scott Hendricks and Nathan Chapman) later this month.
