The best-selling country duo of all time Brooks & Dunn teams up with some of country’s hottest new stars when “CMT Crossroads: Brooks & Dunn and Friends” premieres Friday, June 28 at 10 PM ET/9 PM CT. Joined by friends Brett Young, LANCO frontman Brandon Lancaster, Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, Luke Combs andMidland, the eventful night of collaborations took place in front of thousands of fans on an outdoor stage in downtown Nashville.

The one-hour special showcases songs from Brooks & Dunn’s 2019 collaboration project Reboot, which debuted at No. One and consists of re-recordings of their timeless hits with a twist of added guest vocals and new arrangements, from country’s rising talent. “CMT Crossroads” brings six of the artists featured on the album together to perform the iconic hits with Brooks & Dunn.

The unforgettable night includes performances of:

  • “Brand New Man” with Luke Combs;
  • “My Next Broken Heart” with Jon Pardi;
  • “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” with Midland;
  • “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” with Brett Young;
  • “Red Dirt Road” with Cody Johnson;
  • “Mama Don’t Get Dressed Up for Nothing” with Brandon Lancaster of LANCO.

Brooks & Dunn also perform fan-favorites “My Maria” and “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone.”

About Brooks & Dunn:

With 20 No. One hits stretching back to 1991, two GRAMMY awards, dozens of ACM and CMA honors and a discography counting more album sales than any duo in history – regardless of genre – Brooks & Dunn’s influence on today’s country has never been in question. Hits like “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “My Maria” and “Believe” have propelled the duo to more than 30 million albums sold, with the New York Times heralding “together they helped drive the power-country era of the early-to-mid 1990s and continued to benefit from the sea change in the genre they helped initiate right through their most recent albums.” Their original “Merle Haggard meets The Rolling Stones” vibe made them progressive stars in their own right. The duo’s recently released collaboration project REBOOT debuted at No. One on Billboard’s Top Country Albums. The impressive feat marks the first time the duo has topped the album charts since 2009 while simultaneously earning the duo their 10th Billboard 200 Top 10 album, the most of any country duo or group in the chart’s history. This year, the duo will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in the “Modern Era Artist” category. A Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit on Brooks & Dunn will also open Aug. 9. For more information, visit www.brooks-dunn.com.

CMT Hosts Inaugural CMT Songbird Supper Club

To kick off the celebration of this year’s CMT Music Awards, CMT hosted the inaugural CMT Songbird Supper Club on June 2nd at the Neuhoff Site.

Maggie Rose and Them Vibes entertain the crowd.

Located in the historic Germantown area of Nashville, the long-abandoned, former meat packing plant, Neuhoff Site at 1308 Adams St., has recently been turned into an upscale event venue. Beautifully-decorated to help kick off a week of special events hosted by CMT.

Neuhoff Site

The CMT Songbird Supper Club follows in the tradition from years past of a special dinner that CMT has held in honor of the current CMT Music Awards’ nominees with artists and industry only present. This year, under its new name, CMT opened up a limited number of tickets to the public for purchase to experience a night of fine dining and live music.

The evening began with guests first enjoying a cocktail reception just outside the venue. There was a nice selection of special drinks created for the event with waitstaff serving hors d’vores created by some of the visiting chefs.

Following the cocktail reception, guests made their way into the main event hall with a stage along with several long, candlelit tables that filled the elegantly-decorated room to enjoy the dinner and the musical performances.

My personal favorite dish that was served was the squash with yellow curry sauce with white rice. Going to try to replicate that one from my home!

CMT brought in a collection of culinary superstars from across the U.S. for this very special evening. The chefs included: Roxana Jullapat (East Hollywood, CA), Erik Bruner-Yang (Washington, D.C.), Will Thompson (Miami, FL), Sarah Gavigan (Nashville, TN), and Kristen Kish (Austin, TX).

As guests dined on delectable gourmet dishes from the talented chefs, we were treated to live music. Them Vibes, Twinnie, and Hannah Ellis started out the music for the evening with Maggie Rose joining with her band, Them Vibes, to close out this special night. They stole the show combining Maggie Rose’s powerful, distinctive vocals with the groove that Them Vibes provided as they played their own unique mix of country, soul, and blues bringing the crowd to their feet as most took to the dance floor to end the night on a festive high note.

It was certainly a success and an event that I hope returns next year!

Photo credit: Taylor Kelly

NASHVILLE, TENN. (March 5, 2019) — One to watch GABBY BARRETT is bursting on to the scene since the release of her single “I Hope,” notching 4 MILLION streams in just under a month and cracking the Top 15 on the iTunes Top Country Songs chart. With an adjoining twist-filled music video, fans can get a behind the scenes look at the making of the clip on ET Online.

Gaining recognition, Barrett is one of the newest members of CMT’s Artist Discovery Program, an initiative that spotlights and develops emerging talent in Country music. Adding to the excitement, Barrett is serving as a mentor for Pittsburgh’s Women Who Rock Rising Star Contest. Submissions for the contest opened today, learn more here. Proceeds from the benefit concert support the Magee-Womens Research Institute, the nation’s largest women’s health research institute.

Barrett has also partnered with Forever 21 and Girls Inc. to create a capsule collection of inclusive, fun clothing that celebrates women in preparation for International Women’s Day this Friday, March 8. The line, curated by Barrett and nine other young female artists, launched February 21 and is available now at forever21.com.

CMT Helps Lead The Way Forward Setting A Standard Within Country Music

I have always been impressed with CMT, they are not afraid to try new things, take chances or offer support where it is needed.

Six years ago, CMT created the Next Women of Country initiative.  This initiative seeks out the most talented, up-and-coming women in country music.  Each year a new class is inducted into this musical sisterhood bringing them together and offering support.  They are celebrated with an elegant brunch held at City Winery where an ornate stage is set and each new inductee shares an original song during an acoustic round.

This initiative was created to support up-and-coming women in country music has been very successful.  More new women are breaking through on country radio now like Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, and Lauren Alaina; all members of Next Women of Country inducted into it before they achieved success.  However, there is still a long way to go for women trying to break through on country radio.  Not nearly enough women are being played on radio.  Not in comparison to the men.  We just need it to be equal.  CMT seeks to change that with this program they have developed and in support of a yearly tour featuring some of the members of this group.

This past year, CMT took their support of women one step further with their annual Artists of the Year event held at the Schmerhorn Symphony Hall in downtown Nashville.

This elegant, televised, music industry-only event celebrated the best women of country music this year this past fall.  Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, Maren Morris, and Kelsea Ballerini all were honored for their contributions to country music.  The evening featured performances by them celebrating their music along with fun collaborations with well-known artists from other genres.

This event typically will feature men also like past honorees: Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, and more.  It spotlights the best of country music yearly.  However, since last year, it has become a more socially conscious event with the prior year focused on support & healing from the mass shooting at the Route 91 Festival in Las Vegas where the entire country music community was impacted one way or another and some healing was needed to try to overcome the sadness of this tragic event.

CMT also has the EMERGE program that seeks to support and gather together members along with supporters of the LGTBQ+ community to bring to the forefront issues surrounding members of the community within country music.

This past fall they held an event in their office hosted by CMT’s Cody Alan that featured leaders within the country music industry that are part of the LGTBQ+ community: Shane Tarleton, Anthony Barton, Katie Dean, and Chip Dorsch.  Artist Maggie Rose, who is a strong supporter of the LGTBQ+ community, was also featured on the panel to discuss issues around this community and performed a short set afterwards for attendees.

I hope CMT continues leading the way in country music as they have been doing these past few years by pushing the boundaries and supporting those they feel need it.  If it is a CMT endeavor, it is always guaranteed to be well-produced and high quality.  They are certainly worth supporting for their great efforts towards change and providing quality television programming along with playing country music videos.  This is why I will always give them my support.
