During a press conference to announce their new global charity initiative LadyAID™, Lady Antebellum was surprised today when CMA Chief Executive Officer Steve Moore presented the group with the CMA International Artist Achievement Award.
Formerly the International Touring Artist Award, the CMA International Artist Achievement Award recognizes outstanding achievement by a U.S.-based artist who contributes to the awareness and development of Country Music outside the United States.
“We’re so honored,” said Hillary Scott. “This year especially, being able to take our tour to Europe and then to Australia, and meet even more of our fans all over the world, and to take Country Music that far, we don’t take that lightly. We really, truly do want to make this town and the Country Music community proud when we go overseas and perform.”
“We wish Lady Antebellum much success as they help children around the world,” said Moore. “And it is because of their work around the globe as ambassadors of Country Music that we are presenting them with the International Artist Award.”
Lady Antebellum has sold more than 11 million albums worldwide. Their “Own the Night World Tour” staged performances in 11 countries for more than one million fans including sold out shows in Dublin, London, Toronto, and three-nights at the famed Sydney Opera House. They were nominated for the 2012 Brit Award for Best International Group (UK). We recently had the pleasure of attending the celebration party of George Strait’s 60th straight number 1 hit at the CMA offices for “Give It All We Got Tonight”. Check out the video for a clip from the party and interview with the songwriters!
ASCAP, BMI and the CMA hosted a #1 Party on Monday, June 24th to celebrate the team behind George Strait‘s 60th #1 single, “Give It All We Got Tonight.” The ballad became Strait’s 115th career single and was the first release from his 40th studio album, Love Is Everything, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. Label MCA Nashville’s “60for60” promotional campaign, designed to give Strait 60 #1 songs while he was still 60 years old, pushed “Give It All We Got Tonight” to #1 on the Mediabase charts for the week of May 12th – 18th, 2013 — just days before Strait’s 61st birthday.
Written by ASCAP member Mark Bright and BMI’s Tim James and Phil O’Donnell, and produced by Tony Brown, the song marked the first #1 as a songwriter for Bright, who is perhaps best known for his success as Carrie Underwood’s longtime producer. Publishers Delbert’s Boy Music, HoriPro Entertainment and Warner/Chappell, as well as label MCA Nashville, were also on hand to congratulate the group.
Scotty McCreery will host CMA’s fourth annual “Keep The Music Playing” All-Stars concert tonight (Feb. 19) at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The free concert begins at 6 p.m. No tickets are necessary and seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The fourth annual “Keep The Music Playing” event is presented by the Metro Nashville Public Schools and the CMA, and honors the best elementary, middle and high school music programs in Metro Nashville public schools.

Kix Brooks, Laura Bell Bundy, Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans, Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry and Kellie Pickler are a few of the artists who have been involved in the program.
