Album Review: Miranda Lambert | WILDCARD

Pull up your bar stool and get ready, folks! Miranda Lambert just released her seventh solo album, WILDCARD, today. It features 14 tracks full of grit, sass, and depth as only Miranda can deliver. Available for purchase on her website and all online retailers.

I was lucky enough to be able to attend an advance live preview of this album despite being way under the weather that day, but it was Miranda, so I showed up. I have been excited about it ever since, and could not wait for her fans to hear it. In short, the album is stellar, and pure Miranda Lambert.

I have always loved her sass, spunk, and honesty. What you see is what you get with Miranda. She continues to release great music reminiscent of country greats like Loretta Lynn with a Texas twist and that fire mixed with playfulness that is pure Miranda Lambert that appeals to both traditionalists and new country fans alike.

Favorites off the album are: “Mess With My Head”, “Holy Water”, “It All Comes Out In The Wash”, “Tequila Does”, the poignant “Bluebird”, and the fun “Way Too Pretty For Prison” with Maren Morris. To be honest, I could probably just go straight down the list and tell you what I love about each and every track. It is THAT good.

With the women of country music struggling to get radio airplay and the days of artists stopping by retailers like Wal-Mart gone since they are not really carrying physical cds anymore due to the shift towards digital music and streaming, Lambert worries how she will get her music heard and out to the masses. As with artists of all genres, not just country, the way now to get the music out there and to be able to continue making it is through persistent touring since they can not rely on album sales anymore.

I hope as long as she can, that she continues making music and her fans continue to support her. Buy the album and see her perform live in a town near you.

Also, catch her on some of these upcoming TV appearances:

Friday (11/1), she’ll hit NBC’s “TODAY” and ABC’s “The View” and Sunday (11/3) she’ll chat with “Sunday TODAY” host Willie Geist for the Sunday Sitdown.

Later Friday night, Lambert will perform an intimate Wildcard set and chat with iHeartRadio’s Brooke Taylor during the “iHeartCountry Album Release Party with Miranda Lambert” at the iHeartRadio Theater in New York City. Fans can tune into a radio broadcast on iHeartMedia’s Mainstream Country radio stations and a 30-minute video stream on iHeartRadio.com/MirandaLambert on Nov. 6 at 7:00
