Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends, Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon & Craft Beers On Menu At Music City Food + Wine Festival

Music City Food + Wine Festival is pleased to announce the return of Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends, an all-star roster of guest chefs scheduled to cook with celebrated pitmaster Pat MartinPappy Hour, an exclusive bourbon tasting with Preston Van Winkle of Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery; and an expanded selection of Craft Beers from Tennessee and around the country at the sixth annual festival, September 14-16: http://www.musiccityfoodandwinefestival.com/.

 

Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends:

Led by acclaimed pitmaster Pat Martin (Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint, Hugh Baby’s), Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends offers festivalgoers the unique opportunity to experience and taste wood-fired ingredients that have been slow roasted, grilled and barbecued over live fire throughout the weekend at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. Featuring a host of friends, including some of the most decorated chefs, pitmasters, musicians and beverage experts from across the country, Pat Martin & friends will serve whole-cooked meat and fish, lamb, hog, goat, beef, coal-roasted summer vegetables and other ingredients cooked low and slow using a variety of cooking equipment and stages of live fire.

 

“This is one of my favorite events of the year,” says Pat Martin. “It’s always a special time because it is an opportunity to gather my buddies, hang out and have fun cooking together.”

 

The interactive, live-fire stations are scheduled to feature a rotating cast of friends, including: Tyler Brown (Southall); Trey Cioccia (The Farm House, Black Rabbit); Tamie Cook (Tamie Cook Culinary Productions); Bill Darsinos (GreKo Greek Street Food); Billy Durney (Hometown Bar-B-Que); Sarah Gavigan (Otaku Ramen, Little Octopus, POP); Patrick Hallahan (Musician, My Morning Jacket; Restaurateur); Sam Jones (Sam Jones BBQ); Roy Milner (Blackberry Farm Brewery); Elliott Moss (Buxton Hall Barbecue); Zach Parker (Scott’s-Parker’s BBQ); Edgar Pendley (Haute Iron Co., Urban Grub); Chris Shepherd (UB Preserv); Vivek Surti (VEA Supper Club); Tandy Wilson (City House, Mop / Broom); and more special guests to be announced.

 

The guest chefs will dish out tasting-size portions on a first-come, first-served basis on Friday night, September 14, from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., and on Saturday, September 15, from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends is open to all festivalgoers, and tickets are still available for sale for Friday night and Saturday day. The experience is also included in the sold-out All-In ticket option.

 

Pappy Hour:

Preston Van Winkle, great grandson of iconic bourbon maker Julian P. “Pappy” Van Winkle, will join forces with Roy Milner, Blackberry Farm Brewery’s chief fermentation officer, for the third annual Pappy Hour on Saturday, September 15. Van Winkle and Milner will lead attendees through a tasting of neat pours, including 12 year Van Winkle Special Reserve and 15 year Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve, paired with Blackberry Farm Brewery’s award-winning Classic Saison and Vintage Abbey Quad from the Blackberry Farm Brewery archives. These long-time friends will share stories about their acclaimed beverages, creating the ultimate bourbon with beer back pairing.

 

“I’ve been looking forward to working with my friend Roy for a long time,” says Van Winkle. “Roy and Blackberry provided my introduction to traditional Saisons and I fell in love with the style and his beers absolutely sing with my family’s bourbons.”

“Preston and I have enjoyed a friendship for years based on a few simple ideas: respect for quality, building meaningful relationships and enjoying life,” says Milner. “I look forward to sharing this experience with him and new friends in Nashville.”

This intimate tasting of bourbons from the Van Winkle family’s portfolio paired with beer backs from Blackberry Farm Brewery will be accessible to All-In and Saturday Ticketholders only, and attendees will be selected at random from a pre-registered list to experience this limited-seating tasting. In order to receive further details for access to this event, Saturday Tickets must be purchased by 12:00 midnight CT on September 6th On September 7th, All-In and Saturday Ticketholders will receive an email from the Festival with detailed instructions on how to register for a chance to be randomly selected for the tasting.

Craft Beer:

Music City Food + Wine is also pleased to feature a diverse selection of beers from some of the country’s most beloved breweries, including: Bell’s Brewery; Blackberry Farm Brewery; Devils Backbone Brewing Company; Guinness; Gypsy Circus Cider; Hap & Harry’s; Jackalope Brewing Company; Music City Brewing Co; Napa Smith Brewery; Wicked Weed Brewing; Yee-Haw Brewing Company; and more to be announced.

The Friday Night Ticket ($165 per person) includes single-day access to Friday, September 14 festival programming at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, including the Official Drink of Nashville competition and the Friday Night Throwdown; Grand Taste, with more than 80 beer, wine, cocktail, and culinary tastings; access to Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends; and more.

 

The Saturday Ticket ($165 per person) includes single-day access to Saturday, September 15 festival programming at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, including Grand Taste, with more than 80 beer, wine, cocktail, and culinary tastings; cooking demos; panel discussions; access to Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends; and more.

 

Gospel Brunch Ticket ($85 per person) will return to Walk of Fame Park on Sunday, September 16, featuring a dynamic roster of restaurants and chefs serving creative brunch favorites. Get a jump-start on the day with eye-opening cocktails, wine, coffee, and a spirited live gospel brunch performance from Gayle Mayes.
