Country singer-songwriter and entertainer Billy Ray Cyrus has two immediate downloads upon preordering his anticipated new studio album, Thin Line, including the previously announced “Hey Elvis” and now, “Tulsa Time”.
Written by Danny Flowers and originally recorded by Don Williams in 1978, Cyrus adds his own spin to the classic depiction of life at a slower pace and features Aerosmith’s guitarist, Joe Perry.
“Joe Perry is a magician on this track; what a gift,” said Cyrus. “The irony behind this cover is that it’s Vernon’s [Cyrus’s character in television series “Still The King”] most successful hit.”
Cyrus will release Thin Line on September 9th through Blue Cadillac Music. Cyrus describes the term Thin Line as, “How I live my life; it’s a balance between art and reality,” which serves as the theme of the album.
In total, three select tracks will be available to download prior to the album’s launch with a special pre-order price of under $10 on Amazon and iTunes. The third, “Thin Line,” will be available on August 12.
Cyrus’ television series on CMT, “Still The King” airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT. As a writer and executive producer of the series, Cyrus also stars as “Burnin’” Vernon Brown, a one-hit wonder turned Elvis-impersonator struggling to get back on his feet. After a run-in with the law, Brown is sentenced to community service and ends up masquerading as the community’s new preacher, and re-connecting with his old flame, and a daughter he didn’t know about.
Cyrus’ co-stars include Joey Lauren Adams, comedian/actor Kevin Farley (the late Chris Farley’s brother) and Madison Iseman along with cameos by Randy Travis, Darius Rucker, Wayne Newton, Erik Estrada, John Corbett, and more. View the official trailer for Still The King here.
