We were lucky enough to get a chance to try all these new flavors.  What was our personal favorite? The “615” was just perfect to us! It was a light, fruity wine.  Just how we like it! A sure pleaser for the hot & humid summer months coming quickly upon us.

“As Nashville’s first fully operational urban winery, we’re excited to finally unveil our first wines that have been made and bottled in-house,” said Bill Anton, City Winery Nashville’s winemaker. “A lot of hard work has gone into the making of these, and the result is a line of really diverse and palatable wines. Our hope is that our guests will enjoy and appreciate each bottle from nose to taste, as well as the names and labeling; we tried to incorporate a bit of the city into each one.”

The six new wines—which have been made from grapes sourced from select vineyards around the world, including California, Oregon, New York, Washington State and as far south as Argentina—include the “Centennial” Chardonnay, “615” Sauvignon Blanc, “MelRosé” Rosé of Pinot Noir, “Music Row” Merlot, the “Pedal Steel” Petite Sirah and the 2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasting notes below:

2015 “615” Sauvignon Blanc – Windrem Vineyard, Lake County, CA
A bouquet of freshly cut grass, lychee, grapefruit and tart nectarine parallel the vivid brightness and refreshing mouth feel. Made from organic grapes, this aromatic Sauvignon blanc is a beautiful wine both on its own and as a complement to light dishes.

2015 “Centennial” Chardonnay – Scopus Vineyard, Sonoma, CA
Lemon peel and stone fruit aromas lead this wine, balanced nicely by a low acidity and a juicy mouth feel. Delicate oak influence rounds out this wine, enhancing notes of caramel and vanilla on the palate.

2015 “MelRosé” Rosé of Pinot Noir – California
Crisp and refreshing, this fruit-driven rosé gets its beautiful hue from Pinot noir grown in the rich soils of Santa Barbara and Mendocino Counties. Strawberry, lavender and floral aromas complement the bright acidity and elegant mouth feel. Best served slightly chilled on a warm day.

2013 “Music Row” Merlot – Atlas Peak, CA
Classic, confident, and original—much like Nashville’s beloved Music Row—this Merlot has rose petal, fresh fig and moss aromas with a distinct clove note on the nose. Opens slowly on the palate with plum and mushroom flavors, pulled along by dusty tannins. Earthy and muscular in structure, a terrific food wine.

2013 “Pedal Steel” Petite Sirah – Windsor Oaks Vineyard, Chalk Hill, CA
This Petite Sarah is as uniquely bold as its namesake, “Pedal Steel.” With blackberry syrup, lavender and eucalyptus on the nose, it has an extreme dense purple hue, an oil-like viscosity in your glass and is big and round on the palate with cherry, raisin and sage flavors. Densely packed with tannins with a bang of oak on the finish, it is a perfect match for grilled meats and marinated Portobello mushrooms.

2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon – Diamond Mountain District, California
This Diamond Mountain District Cabernet is rich, ripe and balanced. Loaded with blackberry and cassis aromas, it reveals layers of black licorice, anise and dry raisin. The flavors reflect the aromas as they gush across the palate and then finish with dark berry and dark chocolate, accented with notes of vanilla from French oak barrels.
