Almost 2 years since their EP From The Spark, Grizfolk released their highly anticipated, full-length, debut album Waking Up The Giants [Virgin Records] today. The album is streaming exclusively on Apple Music and available on iTunes HERE. Waking Up The Giants includes new smashing singles such as “Troublemaker,” as well as the four singles from their EP – including “The Struggle.” Fans can also pick up the album on vinyl HERE.
To support this monumental release, Grizfolk joined Conan O’Brien on TBS to perform their single “Troublemaker,” which you can watch HERE. On top of their late night performance, alternative quintet also recently released a brand new official video featuring a Walking Dead cast member. “Set in a barren desert setting, the clip matches the tune’s mainstage-sized hook and chugging bassline with The Walking Dead’s own Josh McDermitt (Eugene!) behind the wheel during a highspeed car chase.” Describes Entertainment Weekly, “We don’t know what originally went sour between all the players involved, but its murderous end leaves little up for interpretation.” Paste Magazine also described “Troublemaker” as “a raunchy mix of electronic synth and guitar,” and SPIN named them one of “Five Can’t Miss Emerging Artists at Voodoo Fest.”
The critically acclaimed Los Angeles alternative rock band unveiled dates for their 2016 winter headlining tour, beginning Thursday January 21 at Voodoo Room in San Diego, CA. Fans can pick up their tickets as well as merchandise HERE.
“When we all met in a studio in Santa Monica in 2013, little did we know that we would be writing our debut full length album Waking Up the Giants,” said Grizfolk. “Looking back and listening to the album now that it’s completed, it truly is a journal of memories and emotions that we’ve gathered these past 2 years. We can only hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
Activision hand tapped Grizfolk to be featured in the new Guitar Hero Live video game. “Troublemaker,” “The Struggle,” and “Hymnals” can be played in-game as well as watched on VEVO HERE.
Grizfolk are about to become your favorite new band. You might have seen them supporting X Ambassadors, Haim, or Bastille, and they made their television debut earlier this year on the Late Show with David Letterman. They’ve got a bevy of festivals under their belts including Firefly Music Festival, Hangout Festival, Free Press Summer Festival, Boston Calling Music Festival, Voodoo Music + Experience, and more. In 2014, Grizfolk blasted on to the scene with their debut EP, From the Spark. Tastemaker Jason Bentley of KCRW proclaimed them one of his new favorite bands, and they appeared on “Morning Becomes Eclectic.” Spotify pegged them as an “Artist to Watch” in 2014, while they scored placements on MTV’s Catfish, Finding Carter, and Generation Cryo as well as The CW’s The Originals and Hart of Dixie. They also penned the end title sequence for the DreamWorks film Mr. Peabody & Sherman.
