Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the album release party for RCA country artist CAM’s debut CD entitled ‘Untamed’ at the Cordelle in Nashville.
CAM first landed on Nashville’s radar when Bobby Bones played her debut single “Burning House” on his syndicated radio show, and she’s being gaining momentum ever since.
OK, first what stands out the most about this artist, aside from her obvious talent, is her personality. If I can only use one word to describe CAM, it would be “vibrant”. From the moment she steps onto the stage, you are brought right into her bright, happy, and yellow-colored world (her signature color). Oh, I dare you to see CAM live and NOT get drawn into her world. I dare you! You’ll find yourself smiling, singing along when CAM asks you to, and placing your arm around your neighbor swaying along to her music. It happened to me, and the whole room filled with music industry folk last night. Be prepared! I call it the CAM experience, because you’ll probably never want to leave after that.
Oh, and if you are lucky enough to get to speak with CAM, like I did, you’ll feel like you have just talked with a long lost friend. It’s true, and she’ll probably give you a big hug. It’s all very authentic. She just seems to genuinely like people. Trust me, I have been around some artists that you seem to be inconveniencing them by talking to them for a minute and/or asking for a picture. It’s rare, but it certainly happens. With CAM there is an immediate warmth and authenticity that will emanate from her from the moment she walks on the stage through the moment you have a chance to meet her off the stage.
There is just something very special about her. I hope more people have an opportunity to experience her live show and meet her in-person, because this artist is worth supporting.
Her new album is due to hit stores on December 11th and online outlets. Buy it! Support this amazing artist.
My favorites off the album are the newly gold certified “Burning House”, the upbeat & fun “Untamed”, and “May Day”, but I truly love the whole thing from this great artist. She is different and a breath of fresh air in a genre that so desperately needs female artists to break through on country radio. Think she is starting to do just that and hope it continues. She’s a little bit of traditional country mixed with the new country blended with a large dose of authenticity. She’s simply CAM, and that’s a great thing! Support her!
