Broadcast Music, Inc.® (BMI)®, a global leader in music rights management, will host Sync THIS!, a two-day event connecting six top music supervisors from the worlds of film, television and advertising with the best of Music City August 11-12, 2015. This invitation-only event will provide a unique setting for emerging BMI artists and tastemakers from the Nashville music community to foster relationships with music supervisors at the top of their respective fields. This two-day forum will feature exclusive performances, a thought-provoking panel and private dinners at two of Nashville’s new chef-owned restaurants. Everything from the shop-local gift bags to the chef-curated custom dinner menu and cocktails, unique showcase spots and rocking performances provide attendees with a truly unique “New Nashville” experience, bringing them from “east” to “west.”
“I’m so excited for this opportunity to bring music supervisors together with talented BMI performers,” said Penny Gattis, Associate Director, Writer/Publisher Relations. “We’re not only showing off the top songwriting talent in Nashville, but also the culinary talent, proving why Nashville is a top destination for all things creative.”
The first night, curated in the style of “East Nashville” will feature dinner at POP, hosted by house chef Daniel Herget and restaurateur/chef Sarah Gavigan. POP was born in May 2014 in a repurposed building in the heart of East Nashville. It’s a convertible restaurant and event space that’s clean, modern and a little bit gritty: every bit representative of East Nashville and its residents. POP exists to help them tell their story through food, art and music.
A performance by The Muddy Magnolias, DeRobert & The Half-Truths and Tony Joe White will follow at the Basement East, a spin-off of the iconic Basement venue. The Muddy Magnolias, one of Elle magazine’s top “Women in Music,” recently signed to IRS records and just finished recording their debut record with Butch Walker (Pink, Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban). The Half-Truths got their start in 2007 as a collection of studio musicians lending their talent to the raw funk label G.E.D. Soul Records. With the addition of DeRobert Adams and his impressive range of vocal skills, the band solidified into the soul powerhouse it is today. Guitarist and songwriter Tony Joe White will cap off the day’s concert. An after-party will follow with performances by Keith Gattis and Friends, showing off the top musicians in Nashville late into the evening.
The second evening in the “West Nashville” style will feature a dinner at Chauhan Ale House, the new restaurant from award-winning author, prominent TV personality, philanthropist and James Beard Award of Excellence winner Chef Maneet Chauhan. An Indian fusion restaurant with a cutting edge and sexy vibe, the Ale House features custom local brewed beers, craft cocktails and dishes influenced by world travels.
Dinner will be followed by a show at The High Watt featuring NF, Lees of Memory and Future Unlimited. NF has made his debut record for Capitol and already has sync placements on ESPN, FOX’s Empire, VH1, NBC, SHOWTIME and more. Lees of Memory is made up of guitarist/vocalist Brandon Fisher and multi-instrumentalist and singer John Davis, the dual guitars that propelled the group Superdrag to international acclaim. They have been making a name for themselves since their energetic SXSW 2015 performances and Grimey’s Record Store Day event in Nashville, which marked the release of their latest 45, Soft Placesb/w Within A Dream II. Future Unlimited, winner of BMI’s Road to Bonnaroo contest, will bring their synth-pop sounds to the showcase.
Sync THIS!, presented by BMI, City National Bank, Downtown Music Publishing, Warner Chappell Production Music and Capitol CMG, will create a vast array of opportunities for sync revenue for local songwriters and music publishers. The pairing of Nashville talent, musicians and chefs will provide a stunning back drop for attendees from around the country to foster relationships while seeing what the Southern city does best.
