The T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research honored Steve and Judy Turner with The Spirit of Nashville Award; Dr. Jeffrey Balser, Medical Research Advancement Award; Bill and Billy Ray Hearn, Frances Preston Lifetime Music Industry Achievement Award; Ken Levitan, Tony Martell Outstanding Entertainment Achievement Award and Becca Stevens, Lifetime Humanitarian Award last night at the 7th Annual Nashville Honors Gala, held at the Omni Hotel downtown. The gala raised nearly $500,000 and has raised close to 3 million dollars since its inception in 2009. Governor Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam and Nashville Mayor Karl Dean joined the sold-out event to honor these individuals whom have made indelible marks on the community.

Pleasant spring temperatures brought out the crowds for the first night of the 23rd Annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival Presented by Regions Bank. Packed Festival venues all across town presented a diverse group of songwriters that covered virtually every genre of music, and there was no shortage of surprises last night.

Country music superstar Brad Paisley will host a night of stand-up comedy featuring comedians Jon Reep, Greg Hahn, Theo Von,Sarah Tiana, Keith Alberstadt and more at TPAC’s Andrew Jackson Hall on Thursday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m., as part of the weeklong Wild West Comedy Festival. Year two of the festival is set for Tuesday, April 14 through Sunday, April 19 in Nashville, and brings a full slate of all-star comedians to its lineup.
